Very linear kit, easy to dodge with all your movement speed. Only a medium threat because she has high enough mobility to follow up if you gank and will be able to burst you to death around level 6 if you eat the charm into a wave. Generally tho if you can live in the laning phase you will outscale so just harass 1-3, look for a play to make bot and play safe around 6-8. End build you can pink a bush and one shot her.
Akali
Pretty simple when she shrouds red card a minion in center and throw your Q. If she shrouds in a fight ult for vision and your team will nuke her. Just don't let her sneak away from lane and communicate MIAs because if she gets a double bot you'll have problems and realize why she got the nickname "Snowball-kali".
Anivia
First kill will determine a lot in this lane. You can't kill him, he can't roam. Lane will typically be decided by first gold gap by kill, cs, gank, or tower.
Azir
He counters you early so just try farming under turret and lining up your Qs for harassment, when hes half of lower use your flash to all-in and you should score the kill 6-8. I would recommend not leveling your ult til level 8/9 because you dont really want to leave him alone at your turret and could use the extra damage to win the skirmish.
Annie
Not too common of a match-up anymore but besides a flash tibbers you have the lane shove and gank play all game long.
Brand
Skill-match up. If you can weave between skill shots you will poke him down pretty fast just watch out for the jungler ganking and his ult if your jungler comes to counter.
Cassiopeia
Pretty difficult lane because of her range. Early roaming is a necessity try to follow some of the ganking tips below to secure some pressure in other lanes because sitting mid is not going to get you anywhere in this match-up. Abyssal would be a possible 6th item and late game you can burst her down but not until probably 4/5 items into game so just try and stay relevant til then.
Cho'Gath
Keep Red Q wave and Blue E him when he goes to CS. As long as you make sure he doesn't get over 3 stacks you shouldn't have much problem with him. Use your range to your advantage and be sure to recognize the animation for his rupture to juke it effeciently.
Diana
Pre-6 is a cake walk, after that avoid her outside of a teamfight because unless you CC chain burst her she will kill you at level 6 with ult. Use turret stun to outplay but besides that laning options are limited.
Ekko
Complete counter pick. Similar builds just you have range and easier CC to land. Your combo will kill him before he can ult if hes under 35% so just poke and bait him whenever the junglers passing to E you. Free Money.
Ezreal
Was more of a pain with runeglave but now just need to stay behind wave so to avoid Q harass and should be fine.
Fiddlesticks
Stun him when he channels ult, Blue card Q him as he throws his silence, and red clear the wave when he trys to drain minions so that he has to unteather or take full wave aggro.
Fizz
Absolutely crucial to trade with him levels 1 and 2. Failing to will result in seeing the screen in black in white level 3. Trick is in close skirmishes flash the E or if hes turret diving with E flash towards side of lane/turret so he cant Q through you out of turret range. He will all in levels 3 and 6 so be ready for it and gank whenever he is back buying or at blue. Early drags are also good to do 2 man with jungler if you see him freezing.
Heimerdinger
Your Red card and Q will demolish his turrets with ease just line them up so your Q will hit at least 2 turrets along with the wave.
Gragas
Can't really kill his fat a**,but should be able to cs. Just watch out for the body slam/ult combo that normally he tries in order to set up the gank.
Jayce
Definitely not a fun match-up, he has poke that needs to be respected. Wave clear hinders your roam and he has fairly good all in when he does his combo. Farm from a distance and try to counter gank or make plays with your ult bot/in their jungle.
Karma
Difficulty in this match-up is pretty even with the deciding factor on how well you can dodge her skill shots.
Karthus
FREEEEE MONEY! One of your easiest match ups. You poke him down in like 3 Q's and can fight better in close/mid range than he can. Also stunning him during his ult channel will probably make him rage quit.
Kassadin
Spell shield and mobility is threatening but lucky they nerfed him so Blassadin no longer 2 shots us :)
Katarina
Lane phase is free money. You out-range, out-poke, and out-roam. Roaming is team-dependent tho. You will only be as fed as their team over-extends. She will be as fed as your team over-extends.
Kayle
Lane from hell. His wave clear splash just annihilates you unless you get a lot of kills bot.
LeBlanc
Honestly a lot of people complain, but she only wins til level 10 then you one shot her pretty easily.
Lee Sin
Like all other AD match-ups, won't be easy but he abuse the range factor and wait for him to fall off mid-game and it'll be easy end-game
Lissandra
Her ult is a free-kill when she gets a gank, her mobility also means she will likely counter gank your plays.
Lulu
Her pre-6 harass will likely determine the lane. If she forces you back first you will have some problems, but otherwise should be fairly even.
Lux
Laning phase like Karma is dependent on your ability to dodge skill shots, you can one shot her mid/late but she can be a potential threat if she's stacking meji's in teamfights.
Malphite
Not as common as the match-up used to be a few seasons ago, but whenever some malph main decides to go mid just thank riot for the free-lo.
Malzahar
Annoying lane that will be pretty even but you will likely be backing a lot from his harassing space aids.
Mordekaiser
Easy counter pick just throw all your W blues and E's at him to beat him down as he CS's. After sheen/luden's he will be like an extra minion in the wave.
Morgana
More of an annoyance when she's bot and your team loses, I typically try to ban her because if the ADC gets fed on their team and I need to shut them down the last thing I want is a fed morgana black shield negating my damage..
Nidalee
FREE MONEY! Dodge the spears behind minions and red card the casters. You out-poke and can just stun Q her when she swaps tiger to try and pounce. One of the easiest match-ups.
Orianna
She can't really kill you and you can't really kill her either but you have more roam potential where's she is only great for like dragon and baron pit. Farm-up go bot and snowball off the extra gold.
Pantheon
Your on hit modifiers still get past his shield, your stun has more range, your Q has more range, and your ult has more utility. GG Free Money.
Riven
In the short-lane riven is annoying. Card her as she farms pre-6. If you can score first blood before she gets ult you have hope otherwise you are gonna be hugging the turret for most the lane phase.
Ryze
Ryze has been played more commonly top, but if you see him by some luck thank Riot because your kit totally out ranges him and you will snowball him out of any significance by mid-game.
Swain
You'd likely want to build morell vs him even if he's the only one with high hp regen just you can burst him down more easily. 1-5 Harass 6-10 back off and only all in if you can cc chain him while out of bird-mode.
Syndra
Not as bad of a match-up as people think. Use all that movement speed to dodge the stun then come closer with the Gold Q 2-hit combo while chasing her as she retreats. Play the bushes to your advantage because if you catch her out hit the free combo and she will lose half hp.
Talon
1-5 you poke. 6-18 save your ult and use it when he ults to give your team vision. Both of your damage is high with low defenses so really whoever bursts first but his dash behind you will give him an edge if you Q before he is CC'd.
Teemo
That blind...he is squishy but that blind will win him lane pretty hard. Wait for the fall off.
Tristana
The range, the burst, the AD....Tie with Wu-Kong for hardest match-up.
Twisted Fate
TF is highly dependent on over extensions and making plays unexpected. After mastering TF you will be able to predict him fairly well and can warn your team where he is moving in order to close the door on any plays he trys.
Veigar
Easy lane just late game his ult will hurt you pretty bad so stay outta range from him while bursting their front line and only engage him with flash combo/one-shot potential.
Vel'Koz
Even lane-phase just dodge skill shots and late game try to focus him with 100-0 burst so he can't ult in teamfights. Your split push is better so I like to do that and just pick him off for a cancel even.
Viktor
His lane phase is slightly stronger but your roam is better. His teamfight is strong, but his low mobility leaves him ripe for the picking.
Vladimir
Likely build morell and just poke at him then try to finish him off when you can get a gank.
Wukong
Just awful. His lunge is your AA range and he out trades you with it. If you can stay even in CS without dying by level 6 you likely mis-queued into a bot game. I try just farming under turret and ulting when he stealths in a teamfight but it's definitely a mentally-draining match-up.
Xerath
Skill-shot depenedent champ so personally I like to weave in closer as he uses his CDs and then slap him in the face with the combo and walk out a few times. His ult is fairly easy to dodge with all the stacked movement speed.
Yasuo
The Wind-wall is pretty op when you have only 2 skills that you throw at the same/similar time. Q poke is essential, also don't be afraid to just walk through the wall/ hold the card and walk closer before throwing it as to make him fumble with the shield. His AD will burst you but your stun combo sets up for an easy kill if anyone else is nearby levels 15+
Zed
Similar to Yasuo his ult just denies your whole combo as he proceeds to shred your face. ZHG in this match-up after Ludo/Linch. If your jungler gives you 2nd blue on you should be able to stay relevant with Q harass and ult ganks when he freezes. Otherwise if you get the whole "Blue Card" mentality the game isn't going to look to good.
Ziggs
He has amazing wave clear and a long-rage AOE ult that somewhat counters you, but like Xerath just dodge and weave your way up the ladder.
Zilean
Free Money. Zilean is good vs champs with long CD for their assassination so like Zed so you can ult when he death-marks and revive yourself like it didn't happen. TFs CDs are so low ulting isn't going to do to much even if it works correctly. With his gold card stun he probably won't ult himself right at least 50% of the time.
Zyra
Similar to Heimer just line your skills up to hit more than one-plant and you will weaken her damage output significantly. Poke her with her Q then go in for the kill.
Hey guys! I've been getting requests on how to play Twisted Fate since around late Season 2. Prior to playing League I beta-tested Nazi Zombie maps on Xbox for Treyarch and played Yu-Gi-Oh semi-competitively. I then got into computer games again in 2011/2012 and played Starcraft II and Age of the Empires II, but never had played a MOBA, watched MOBA gameplay, or even knew they type of game existed. I joined League of Legends July/August of 2012 and messed around with Ahri, Darius, and Varus before finally playing Twisted Fate. The first game I played with Twisted Fate I got a triple-kill which to me was like a miracle as I was only around level 10 at the time and had been typically seeing more black and white than color on my screen when I played other champs. As I leveled up to 30 a lot of people complimented my gameplay in normals, but ridiculed my practice style which I admit was out of the ordinary but I believe to be the reason I climbed up the ranks faster than a lot of my friends who had years of experience over me. So at the time I was just starting college so I wouldn't play too much and when I did I would prefer to play vs Ai bots. To me I wanted to be able to beat the CPU in the most outrageous ways possible. First 5v5, then 3v5, 1v3, and finally 1v5. Most people would stop at this point, but then I would get more ridiculous. 1v5 with only rank 1 skills, 1v5 without runes or masteries, 1v5 with only 2 items, etc. Then when I went into normals I would play Twisted fate with Ignite Teleport never flash and refuse to purchase any wards. That summarizes my gameplay for Season 3 and the in-game lobbies would flame me into oblivion. They also weren't such a big fan of twin shadow rushes with homeguard boots but eventually in game they would see the potential and I was having fun while climbing. That season I hit level 30 right at the end of pre-season and was placed in Bronze 2. 10 months later as the season came to a close I was Platinum 2 still refusing to ward or run flash. Season 4 I worked a lot on my champion pool and still mained Twisted Fate but added Zilean, Veigar, Swain, Fizz, Ryze, Viktor, and Jax to my line-up and finished Plat 4 while adopting flash. This season I've worked on my champ pool more and finally started warding while learning Fiddlesticks, Udyr, Warwick, Kha, Cait, Ezreal, Xerath, Tryn, Garen, and Leona. I reached Diamond 5 a month ago with half the games I normally play in a season. I intend on learning a few more champs before trying to push for Masters by end of season. In the meantime I have been asked countless times by friends, allies, and opponents "How do you play Twisted Fate?". Now with close to 2000 games and high familiarity with any match-up I have the time and knowledge to explain that.
