This build is brand new for Dominion! I took a very long break from League of Legends because I kind of hated it for a while, but now I'm back with a new guide! I hope you all enjoy!

Please do not flame/troll this build. If you played with me and either I sucked or you didn't like me, please remember, I'm only human and I'm not claiming to be the best. Thank you.

Intro To Lux and This Build

Born to the prestigious Crownguards, the paragon family of Demacian service, Luxanna was destined for greatness. She grew up as the family’s only daughter, and she immediately took to the advanced education and lavish parties required of families as high profile as the Crownguards. As Lux matured, it became clear that she was extraordinarily gifted. She could play tricks that made people believe they had seen things that did not actually exist. She could also hide in plain sight. Somehow, she was able to reverse engineer arcane magical spells after seeing them cast only once. She was hailed as a prodigy, drawing the affections of the Demacian government, military, and citizens alike.

As one of the youngest women to be tested by the College of Magic, she was discovered to possess a unique command over the powers of light. The young Lux viewed this as a great gift, something for her to embrace and use in the name of good. Realizing her unique skills, the Demacian military recruited and trained her in covert operations. She quickly became renowned for her daring achievements; the most dangerous of which found her deep in the chambers of the Noxian High Command. She extracted valuable inside information about the Noxus-Ionian conflict, earning her great favor with Demacians and Ionians alike. However, reconnaissance and surveillance was not for her. A light of her people, Lux's true calling was the League of Legends, where she could follow in her brother’s footsteps and unleash her gifts as an inspiration for all of Demacia.

"Her guiding light makes enemies wary, but they should worry most when the light fades." –- Garen, the Might of Demacia

Hello everyone, my name is Apollymia and I am back from a very long break. This is my Dominion specific guide. It can work for Summoners Rift, but you will need to switch items around. Enjoy!

Masteries and Summoner Spells

Masteries

I use a pretty basic 9/0/21 AP caster build. I make sure to grab the 5% Cooldown Reduction and a little bit of health and mana regeneration. Dominion is very fast pace, so you need to be fast with it. I try my hardest to get as much CDR as possible so I can spam my lazer at people low or trying to back cap. You can easily change this to fit your needs, but this is what I typically go with.

Summoner Spells

Clarity is always nice because Lux has a pretty small mana pool and kind of high mana costs, so I like to hang onto this, even in Dominion. I don't use it as often, but it helps you get mana when you need to run or kill an enemy on the fly and you're OOM.
Flash is amazing on Dominion. You need a lot of speed on here, which is why Ghost is also really good. I use Flash mainly to get away or closer in an instant.

Skills and Runes

Skills

Illumination is Lux's passive ability. Lux's damaging spells charge the target with energy for 6 seconds. Lux's next attack ignites the energy, dealing 20-190 (depending on Lux's level) magic damage to the target. Basically, every time you use an ability, Illumination is put on your enemy. If you auto-attack them or use another ability on them while it's active, you hit harder. Which is why you see some Lux's go AD, even though it's not very effect seeing as all of her spells run off of magical damage.

Light Binding is Lux's lockdown. It locks down two enemies, champions or minions, dealing a certain amount of damage to it's target. The second target it hits, if any, will take half the damage of the first target hit, the stun also only lasts half that of the first locked down enemy. Be careful to note that it does not pass through minions, so take time to line up your skill shot if you're aiming for champions. I like having this maxed first, regardless of what map I'm on, because, I like having a strong lockdown. Most of the time on this map you will not be fighting alone, so you are not the only output of damage, so it's not as important to get your higher damaging spells first. Maxing your lockdown will allow you to hold your enemy in place long enough for your team to burst them to death. I find this essential on Dominion.

Prismatic Barrier is Lux's bubble. It will only bubble ally champions. As far as I know, it does not have a cap for how many people you can bubble, the only condition is that they have to be in the way of the bubble to get. It sort of acts like a boomerang and bubbles twice, instead of most bubbles only ticking once. So if you need to bubble an ally and they're not in front of you (or behind you or beside you, whichever way you decide to throw it) if they manage to get between you and the bubble before it returns to you, it'll bubble them. The bubble will always hit you, no matter where you throw it. I always max this last because I don't find it very usual to have it above one point for most of the game. On top of that, you level fast enough to where, you'll have your fully leveled bubble in less than ten minutes.

Lucent Singularity is Lux's best harassing tool. It's a bit difficult to describe, but think of it like Morgana's Tormented Soil, but if you hit your E again, it explodes. Contrary to popular belief, it does NOT do more damage the longer it sits on the ground. Which is why you see Lux's throw it and instantly explode it. It also acts as a slow. Any enemy, minion or champion, that passes through it, will be slowed by a percentage, making it a great escape when combined with your ]Light Binding. They are also an amazing harass combo. Locking them down, then throwing Lucent Singularity takes out a good chunk of their health, even at low levels. Lucent Singularity is also an amazing scouting tool. Throw it into bushes or just out of your view, and it will reveal the surrounding area. It will reveal the entire inside of the bush, much like a ward would. It is clearly visible by the green/red ring around it when thrown on the ground. This is great to help spot early ganks and counter them. I max this right after Light Binding, but it really is up to the player.

finales funkelnFinales Funkeln is Lux's ultimate. It's a lazor beam, that after a short delay, launches a, well, lazer. Depending upon your level, it can hit anywhere from 300-1000 magical damage. It's launching mechanism is much like Ashe's or Ezreal's but with a range limit. On a 3v3 map, it'll go from your tower to the enemy tower. Put a point into this whenever available.

Runes

Greater Mark of Insight - 9 - Magic Penetration
Greater Seal of Replenishment - 9 - Mana Per Second Per Level
Greater Glyph of Potency - 9 - Ability Power
Greater Quintessence of Insight - 3 - Magic Penetration

The runes are pretty straight forward and can be easily changed to suit your particular needs.

Items

At the start of Dominion you get 1375g, which is a pretty nice increase from Summoner's Rift. The following are the items, in order, that I get, and a small insight as to why.

Prospector's Ring is the Doran's Ring of Dominion. It give's a good bit of starting AP as well as mana regeneration and some bonus health. Anyone not new to Lux will know that this is typically the best starting item besides buying your boots flat out. Which, you could also do but, this early in the game you don't need the CDR. At least not yet.

Boots of Speed are pretty nice right off the bat, and unlike on Summoner's Rift, you don't have to sacrifice your boots for your ring or vice versa.

I grab these starting out just in case I get in trouble. If you find that you don't need them either by the time you get your ultimate or by the time of your first death, just sell them back.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity are always my boots of choice. Feel free to switch them out for Sorcerer's Shoes if you want more magic penetration. Gold gain is increased to 3 per second instead of 1, so you can get these pretty quickly, regardless of what boots you choose.

Rabadon's Deathcap will be easier to get then it was on Summoner's Rift. With the increased gold gain you should have this relatively quickly. Regardless of which map you play on, this is an AMAZING AP caster item.

Sheen is an item I've avoided for a long time, but with Dominion games short, money not being a problem, and burst damage being more important than ever, I finally caved and started playing with this in my build. And I've gotta say, I kinda love it. I've gotten several double kills and a triple kill because of this item. (not bragging, making a statement) I highly recommend throwing this into your build.

Tear of the Goddess allows you to satisfy almost any mana problems you may have on Dominion. I personally like it because, at this point, I won't run out of mana in team fights and can easily use all of my abilites without fear.

Morello's Evil Tome will get you that last bit of CDR you need, as well as some AP and mana. Now, after I get this, the game doesn't last much longer, but every game I have tested this build with, I have been able to buy my Morello's, regardless of whether I was fed or feeding. You should not have a problem getting this. But, if you are playing Dominion, you most likely will not make it any further into the build. The rest of the build is for if the game lasts longer than normal or you are playing Summoner's Rift.

Lich Bane is amazing with Lux's passive. She hits like a truck and, with Illumination up, you can easily one shot champions with your ulti. (which is soo fun)

Archangel's Staff not only gives you a could deal of AP, but a butt ton of mana. I've never gotten far enough into my build to get the staff, but the build is still very much in the testing stage, so that may change.

Zhonya's Hourglass gives you AP and a better way to survive. The only place I would deem this useful is on Summoner's Rift, because that's where you need the most survivability. (don't get me wrong, you need to survive on Dominion, but from what I've seen you need more burst damage)

Gameplay

This is very much under construction. This is where I will explain a lot about what I know about Dominion, and, at the end I will add some information for playing Lux on Summoner's Rift.

Summoner's Rift

Lux is one of the best mid champions out there (there are better of course, but usually she goes mid if there's no one else). She's also a really good laning partner. Lux isn't strong enough to jungle, but if you need blue buff, grab some help, and mid-late game, if you need extra gold, Lucent Singularity hits hard enough for you to take out a minion camp. I'll try to explain laning and mid in as much detail as possible.

Laning

I usually go top, but that depends on your teammates. Typically, I lane with Jax, because my friend Dan and I play together a lot. And he's honestly a really amazing laning partner. Get Light Binding first. If you get to your lane quick enough, slip into the bushes and wait. If your enemy gets close enough to you, lock them down. Sometimes they face check, and if you can lock them down fast enough and let your ally get off a move, you can easily get a kill. Don't push to hard, Lux is very squishy early game. Play defensive unless you are sure you can get the upper hand on them. At level 2, grab Lucent Singularity and start harassing. Don't just launch this and waste Mana, it's not worth it. Use it only when you are sure they'll go through it. Most of the time, I throw it a little bit behind them, because when they see you cast it, they'll run, and if you throw it behind them, they'll run right into it. If you can get a clear shot on them, lock them down and throw Lucent Singularity. By the time you hit level 3 and get your bubble, depending on how much you're able to harass, you may or may not need to hit Clarity, if not, save it. Only use it if you cannot hit your abilities. Play defensive and harass until you get your ultimate. Now at level 6, your ultimate will only hit for 300-400, depending on runes and such. If they're low enough, use it. If not, lock them down, throw Lucent Singularity, and hopefully hit Finales FunkelnFinales Funkeln. Now, this is also best case scenario, keep in mind that not every game will go your way and you have to have map/situational awareness at all times. Your teammates won't always be able to call MIA's and you need to be aware of your surroundings. Once you get to a certain point in the game, group fights will start happening. Most people expect Lux to initiate, because of Light Binding. Do remember you're not a tank and you're a cute ball of squish, so try to stay as far to the back as possible to avoid early death. You will get focused because Lux is feared. If she's fed and gets all her items quickly, she's dangerous, not to mention she's a hazard for those running away with low health. The key is to be on the defensive at all times and not get cocky.

Mid

I personally hate going mid, because you're more vulnerable to ganks and you don't have the support of a teammate to help you. But don't fret, you're not completely powerless. Be sure to have good map awareness when mid, and hope your teammates call MIA's. Now, depending on who lanes against you, you may need to let everyone know when they have their ultimate. Like Karthus or Twisted Fate. Like when laning, get Light Binding and Lucent Singularity first. Don't get too pushy unless you know you can dominate or drop them. Lock them down whenever you have a clear shot and throw Lucent Singularity directly afterwards. By level 6, if you've been able to harass, you can easily kill them with Finales FunkelnFinales Funkeln. When going mid, you usually get to decide when team fights happen because you'll usually call in reinforcements to gank and push the tower, or they will, and your teammates will come help (usually). Team fights usually happen around level 10, but it all depends on whether you're getting overwhelmed or you really want that tower dead. Like I said before, you need to initiate (usually) with Light Binding and hopefully your team can come together to get an Ace.
