Introduction

After playing Nocturne a few times, I felt that other people's builds weren't good enough to maximize on nocturne's capabilities. My Build focuses on jungling, ganking, getting great damage out early game and being tanky enough to take a few hits, kill, and get out alive. It's just too good, they can't handle it. Nocturne is a great champion that fulfills very many roles in the team. He is unique in the sense that his very useful passive is essentially his bread and butter. Please rate, comment, and give some good feedback!

Runes & Masteries

Right now, as I'm still buying the right runes for Nocturne, I'm using Armor pen marks, armor seals, cooldown glyphs, and Armor Pen quintessences.

I might plan to replace the cooldown glyphs with attack speed glyphs. Although cooldown is always awesome, Nocturne's passive might be better off with just more attack speed.
I get the Armor and Armor Pen so that jungling is faster and easier. As well, your early game ganks will deal ****ton of damage seeing as how you basically deal true damage to some champions.

Masteries, I go with a 21-0-9
This is to maximize his attack power while having good utility for exp and buff duration.
The usual masteries, nothing too special.

My friend "i bite u" favors a 20-0-10 build for longer buff duration. Longer red buff= more dmg, more slow

Items

Items....... THis is where I think I have the advantage over other builds :P Nothing too out of the ordinary, nothing ******ed like a hextech gunblade (i've seen them used =_=)
Your main items for early game are...

Madred's Razor- for the good jungling, can be upgraded to either wriggles or madred's bloodrazor. Really depends on the opposing team, if their tanky, go for bloodrazor.

Brutalizer- GOOD early game item! good armor pen, cd, and good dmg at a cheap price. This synergizes well with the runes and his skills.

Boots- You can get whatever Boots you want! Boots that I would suggest are Merc treads for the MR and decreased CC. Mobility for better ganking, lane covering, and all that movement speed goodness! Bezerker for moar AS.

Upgrade Madreds to this if you choose to.

Mid Game:
Frozen Mallet- Now is the time where teamswill be having team fights, pushing lanes, and ganking. This item will improve your survivability, chasing, and ganking. A great item overall, useful throughout the entire game.

Madreds' Bloodrazor- If you decided to get this item instead of wriggles, mid game is the time to work on it. Generally, I prefer this item as it synergizes with your passive. Its a good item, improves your attack speed, and helps you get more dmg off champs.

Late Game:
Banshees Veil- AWESOME ITEM on NOCTURNE. Depending on the other team, you can get this item in mid game INSTEAD OF FROZEN MALLET. Just think, with your Shroud, you can block 2 spells l0l! Perfect for making those spellcasters useless, as well as improving your ability to be unstoppable when chasing/ganking someone.

Bloodthirster- Increased damage, lifesteal. What else do you need?

I know these are 6 items already, but if the game hasnt ended yet, you can sell your brutalizer for an item of your choice. More dmg? Stack another bloodthirster. Too many ADps? get thornmail. Or if you want, just upgrade ur brutalizer to a Youmou's. Up to you what item you want at the end. You can even sell Wriggle's for another item if the game is really taking too long.

The mid to late game items can be re-arranged anyway you like depending on how well you are doing, how farmed you are, and your opposition.

The reason why I dont go for Youmou's is because Brutalizer is just too good of an early game item but there are many items better than Youmou's late game depending on situation. By all means, if you like Youmou's and feel that it fits nocturne's gameplay go for it.

Why not get Attack speed items?
I build Nocturne as more of a bursty character with great survivabilty. The moment you go in, you should be able to get a lot of damage in already. Frozen mallet helps you finish your kills while your Duskbringer helps damage and chase. Your Shroud already gives you great Attack speed and if your spell shield worked, you get double that! No need to get attack speed.

"4/5 People got thornmail rendering me doomed when i focus anyone." -Bbqlol
If people are getting thornmail because you are just too good, then start either... Getting more MR, or ask your teammates to kill that person, while you attack someone else.

Skill Sequence

With Junggling, you want to max out your Duskbringer, and get a few points into Shroud. After maxing Duskbringer, honestly, you put more points into either shroud or unspeakable horror. Sure Shroud gives you more attack speed, but putting more points into unspeakable horror gives you more fear time. It really depends on your style of play.

Spells

Jungling
Smite- JUNGLING NEEDS SMITE get it fo sho! As well, counter jungling is always fun to steal someone's buff, and run away trolololololololololol-ing
Ghost- chasing, so that you can land another duskbringer? sweeet. escaping with duskbringer? more MS LOL

Laning
Flash- pretty good summoner skills, useful in almost any situation.
Ghost- See above
Ignite- Getting those last few hp bars off, guaranteeing(?) a kill.

Duskbringer- MAX this. Spell is great for jungling, catching up to enemies, harrassing and dealing damage.
Shroud- Great skill if used properly. Either put points into this or Unspeakable Horror depending on your gameplay.
Unspeakable Horror- Good skill to guarantee a kill. Fear works wonders.
Paranoia- Great ultimate and good launch range. Use to kill squishies by themselves, gank, join a teamfight, pick off a low hp champion running away, tower dive.

Creeping / Jungling

There are many different jungling routes for Nocturne. Here is Stonewall's suggestions...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8KLA6HEilQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUWhQMPlB-c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7Z3fuV0PIY

I usually go wolf camp, Wraith camp - smite the big wraith, double golems.
Depending if they having a jungler or not... I might go jungle in their jungle go gank, or go back to base. Generally, I try not to go back until I have at least 700 gold to buy madreds. Get Blue buff around level 3-4 and Red Buff before ganking. Not too hard to jungle, just watch Stonewall's vids and personalize them to your own liking.

General Things I would advise:

WARDS- these are essential if they have an enemy jungler. As a jungler, you must help provide intel to your allies.
Map Awareness- Junglers totally need map awareness to either inform an ally of an incoming enemy gank or set up your own ganks.

Gank often- when you gank, try to get the kill. If you cant get the kill, you can still use a spell and leave. Remember, you are Nocturne. Gotta keep them scared. Play mindgames!

Ganking

As said above, gank as often as the oppurtunity arises. Try not to waste so much waiting for your allies/enemies to get into position because you will actually lose exp/gold by doing this. Seeing a lane being very aggressive? shoot some skills in there, get them scared and go back to jungling.

As you hit level 6, looking for ganks is especially important. Nocturne is at his prime at mid game. Champs wont all be clumped together so WARDING is especially important. Catching a stray squishy running around= ULT AND KILL. Ping to let your teammates know where you are going just in case you need back up later.

Nocturne's Ultimate is incredibly more useful when you have sight of the map. I can not stop stressing this important fact. Catching junglers by themselves or squishies running around and stopping/killing them is important. It helps you farm and get buff for late game. Good champions to be with are Twisted fate and Teemo. Tfay's ulti has great synergy with yours and teemo's shrooms can act as spammable wards to help you land ganks better.

Fighting/Farming

Nocturne's fighting style depends on the situation.
If you are with your teammates.
Harrass with duskbringer and when going in, shroud to stop any potential spells fired at you and unspeakable horror the target you are going for. remember, your passive is GREAT, splash and increased damage. Its what you will be mainly using to kill.
If you are not with your teammates, and they are in a fight.
Ulti in when you are in range. MAKE SURE you are in range and same thing. Use your shroud if you think you will be hit with a spell. Use your duskbringer and fear on your target. If you get low, get out of there.
Ganking.
Start with either paranoia or Duskbringer depending on how far you are from the target. Do the same combo, keep attacking. If they manage to get out of your attack range, Duskbringer or Paranoia to FINISH HIM.

Remember:
You are not the initiator.
Do not waste your paranoia going in if you are already there.
Shroud is EXTREMELY useful. Use it properly and you'll survive/deal dmg much better.

Farming.
Easy stuff here. Duskbringer+Umbra Blades= easy farm.

Conclusion.

Nocturne is a GREAT champion for ganks, dealing damage, and chasing. However, in teamfights, he can be squishy if targeted. As a result, my build focuses on jungling, ganking, and survivabilty for mid and late game. The Star Item of this build would be frozen Mallet. It helps you get the kills and helps you get out of there. Remember to ward often, map awareness is a must for Nocturne. If you are not a ******, you should be able to get a great KDR every game with Nocturne.

The items are merely what I find effective on Nocturne. The early game items and frozen mallet are what I think works on him. If you do not like the lategame items, you can customize them to your liking.

Play Nocturne like you are Nocturne. Play mindgames with your enemies, make them **** their pants everytime you ult. Make them wet their pants while you wet your pants in enjoyment.

Please Comment and Rate. I'd especially like to hear how your Nocturnes turned out. I'd especially appreciate feedback about how to improve this build.

Have fun.
