Intro

Hey ya'll, I go by Continentleman on Mobafire. This is my first legit guide. I love Pantheon, as we share the same heritage. Anyways, I've practiced this build a lot, and I hope you have the same results I do with Pantheon. I'm not the biggest fan of him on SR, but on Dom, built right, he's insane. I play him as an initial top fighter who's job it is to roam the map to push, defend, and assassinate as necessary.

Runes

Not much to say here. Desolation marks and quints for armor pen, as Pantheon's skill set works very well with armor pen.
Armor per level seals and MR per level glyphs are much better than flat ones in dominion, as you'll be leveling up quickly (obviously).

I go R > E > Q > W

Heartseeker Strike is such a good spell in dominion. There will be a lot of team fights, so try to position yourself well to maximize the damage on HSS.

Use Aegis of Zeonia to initiate and interrupt certain abilities. Katarina's Death Lotus comes to mind. It's fun sometimes if an AD Sion decides to turret dive you with his ulti active. If you are both a relatively low health, wait until he pulls turret aggro and stun him. He will most likely be dead if you play your cards right.

Items

Starting off with a Prospector's Blade and longsword provide you with a hefty amount of AD and health at level 3. Yes, you will be slow, but I usually burn ghost at the beginning to get to the speed buff so that I maximize my boosted speed time, which is more explained in the summoner spells chapter. If we cap top, I will stay until I have enough gold for my boots 2.

As a quick side note, check out the enemy team. If they have a lot of auto attackers or simply AD champs going top in the beginning, take a Cloth Armor in addition to your Prospector's Blade. This will help you survive that level 1 fight at windmill, and will help you get your Ninja Tabi more quickly.

Your boots depend heavily on your matchup. Ninja Tabi will be your bread and butter, as many champs you will face on dominion will either be auto attackers or bruisers. You don't need the ionian boots since you will already have enough CDR from your The Brutalizer/ Youmuu's Ghostblade, Frozen Heart, and masteries. You can pick up a pair of Mercury's Treadss if you are facing a fair amount champions dealing magic damage, and / or a lot of champions with stuns and other forms of CC.

Finish your The Brutalizer as soon as possible. It's a fantastic item for Pantheon, and shouldn't be looked over. Don't upgrade it to Youmuu's Ghostblade until you finish your Frozen Mallet.

I grab a Giant's Belt and Pickaxe after my The Brutalizer. I get the belt first for some more survivability, and then a Pickaxe for more damage in between finishing my bigger items. If I simply finished my Youmuu's Ghostblade or Last Whisper, I would be too squishy for my own good. You want to be able to hold positions and stay in the fight for as long as possible.

Now kids, don't forget to use your Youmuu's Ghostblade active! Using this in an important top fight will quickly turn the tide. You will be a damaging monster. If you get focused, that's ok. You will be tanky enough that you can still deal a fair amount of damage and give your teammates a chance to pummel some face.

With masteries and items you should be at 39% CDR! Frozen Heart will help your matchup versus auto attackers. The mana isn't that important, but the armor will help you eat up turret aggro if necessary. It's one of the main CDR items in this build.

Summoner Spells

Garrison works insanely well with Pantheon. If you see a small group of enemies attempting a turret capture, jump in there with your Grand Skyfall and see if they attack. If they do, pop Garrison then stun the one with turret aggro (or squishy) with Aegis of Zeonia. Proceed to kill the one you stunned and then move on to the other.

Ghost is a pretty standard dominion spell. I use it at the beginning to get to the speed buff on our side. Make your way top and proceed to fight. I use Ghost in these other situations:
When you need to...
  • Chase down enemies
  • Get to a capture point quickly when you either don't have Grand Skyfall up or know you will need Grand Skyfall in the very near future
  • Escape
I take it over flash for those very reasons. Mobility is very important in dominion.

Other viable choices:
Exhaust
If you are playing draft pick and the enemies have a lot of auto attackers

Ignite
Not as useful, but good for champions like Dr. Mundo who think they can turret dive and be OK with ulti.

All the others aren't that imporant... make sure to take ghost, kids!

Why Frozen Mallet over Entropy, and why not both?

Frozen Mallet will allow you to stick onto enemy champions much harder. It's a great health item overall and especially for dominion. It provides a small amount of AD, but you get your AD from other items. I also pick this over Entropy because the combination of health, ad, and ArPen from the Frozen Mallet / Last Whisper. Entropy's active is nice but you're an AD caster and won't be auto attacking that often.

I don't take both because they are simply too expensive. I would prefer to have Frozen Mallet and Infinity Edge as my expensive items. Last Whisper and Youmuu's Ghostblade are not too expensive and coordinate well with your other items.

Gameplay, Roaming, & how and when to effectively use Grand Skyfall

(Really quickly, one tip is to shoot off your E four times before the game starts in order to proc your passive :D )

Grand Skyfall is one of the best spells on dominion. I use it in many scenarios, like the following:
  • Defend a capture point
  • Help assault a capture point
  • Backdoor a capture point
  • Escape from a losing fight (make sure to use AFTER enemies have used abilities which could disrupt it)
  • Chase down a fleeing troublesome enemy (don't do this often)

This spell can change the tide of a fight. If your teammates are losing a fight at top, jump in on top of them. They will either stay there, fight, and take the damage, or run away and suffer more damage from my team.
Win-win.

Using Garrison with Grand Skyfall- these work very well together. I already described this up in the summoner skill section, but the jist is that you ulti in on two or so enemies capping your point, pop Garrison if they try to fight you, and watch them die. It's fun.

The skill order in a fight goes Q > W > E > Q > E, and repeat. Make sure to use Aegis of Zeonia on enemies like Katarina when she pops Death Lotus. Use your stun on a pesky Sion when he pops his ultimate to focus him down and take him out of the fight. Using your Aegis of Zeonia on carries then bursting them down with Q, E, and auto attacks is your main role. Assassinate them.

Roaming Pantheon!
When playing Pantheon, I will usually stay top and base myself around it. Don't be the only one there in case you need to Grand Skyfall into a fight to take or defend a point! If you have an adequate number of people defending top point, you can roam. This means taking the healing pots on enemy sides, taking mid buff, and being in fights wherever you are needed. Pantheon's greatest strength is his ability to be where he needs to be, when he needs to be. Having the enemy not know where you are is quite scary, especially with tihs build!

Proof of Pantheon's power!

I did lose two of those games, but you can't win every one. Dominion requires good team work which some people tend to lack...
I also came in first in every game except one, but that was a rough game. Truly rough.

I know that you can easily throw the game to get high personal score, but there's no point in doing that. The best solution is to try your best and attempt to secure the win.
