Hello, your guide is great. I have a question about Shen. After many games there are some match up that are easier and more difficult, that's obvious, but the point is that some match up which in theory should be easy with shen I find quite complicated in early, and in late then beats clearly shen wins. I give you an example, recently in a game had a Jarvan front and had too much damage, I started cloth armor and x4 potions, but was too hurt and kept pushing, though I killed 4 times, my jungle in turn he killed as many as pushing much, but the result was always that came to hit the tower and to his no and when I did I had to leave because he came the middle or the jungle, my question is this situation where a match up easily becomes a hell excess damage even if you do kill as you do to defend the tower, and often had to use the ultimate to help my team and not always had teleport. My Team Heca (jungle), Leblan (mid), Bardo (support) and Jinx (adc), enemy team Jarvan (top), Voli (jungle), akali(mid), caitlyn (adc) and Blitz(support). Jarvan start with Hydra + boot + sunfire cape. At level 1 jarvan Q+ auto...half hp :S
My item order was Sunfire Cape + boot + ZZ rot...no more the game end ( defeat ) :(
Sorry english is not my native language...

Hello Thornhair and Thank you for writing me.
Indeed, Some games can be easy and some of them really difficult as Shen, even going against the same champion.
It depends on many facts, such as their runes, masteries, the way he plays, their team etc. (for example some J.IV are going for tanky runes and masteries, and other are based for early level attack damage)
I remember very well lots of games against Jarvan IV and I don't remember them being a threat overall too much (perhaps early level, indeed because the J IV damage is insane)
Shen is a very strong champion late game and if you manage to get there, you have real big win chance.
As example, against Jarvan IV on top, you can pick some situational items such as Thornmail after Sunfire Aegis if he represent a real threat to you, and rush some HP with Warmog's Armor, leaving the Zz'Rot Portal on late game for strong pushing.
The build which is on guide is a standard build against "neutral champions" (most of them are not such a high threat to Shen), but can be changed slightly according to the enemy team champions) - For example if you are against Teemo on TOP, LeBlanc on MID and AP based champion on jungle, definitely you are going to buy some magic resist as soon as possible.

To talk about Jarvan, if you feel that he is doing problems to you early levels, you can rush Ninja Tabi instead of Boots of Swiftness to block some damage.
Jarvan is a very strong push laner, so yes, I would definitely recommend Zz'Rot Portal to counter his pushing abilities, and trying to farm under tower to throw him back (never leave your tower alone if you play against strong pushers)

What you did with Cloth Armor and 4x potions early it was very good to counter some hard damage based champions such as Jarvan, but from that you can get Ninja Tabi
I am sure that if you have Ninja Tabi, Sunfire Aegis and Zz'Rot Portal or Thornmail if he got some kills, he cannot do anything to you. Definitely.

If you was defending your tower and their middle and jungle came and gank you, pushing you and killing you under the tower, that's definitely not your fault, they just play better that your team (because your jungle and mid lane can do the same but they didn't)
When you are about to use the ultimate I recommend having Teleport ready, for a fast as possible return, because that's the worst risky part: You can lose your tower.
If you are strongly defending it and your team engage into a team fight (and the top enemy champion is still here pushing you), you have to chose: defend your tower with the risk that they will loose the team fight, or to save them winning the team fight with the price of your tower?

So please, don't give up! As far as I've seen, it was your team fault mostly. Shen one disadvantages is that, is a TEAM DEPENDENT champion. With your team together you can win the game. But if your team don't react so much when you are ganked by their jungle and middle lane, along with their top, you really don't have so much what to do.
Early level you cannot fight against 2-3 but you CAN on late!

I hope I can be helpful with this. I will answer to any further questions!

Is not a bad option too. You gonna benefit more on late game from it.
Please let me know how it works :)

Warmog's Armor is such a bad item for it's cost. I would swap it out for something else.

Perhaps it is because of the price, but if the enemy team doesn't have feeded AD or AP carries, I still prefer to build it after sunfire cape. If they have, then i rush one more armor (feeded ad's) or spirit visage early if the got feeded AP.
Anyway, that's my personal opinion through, and gone like this for hundreds of games, but things can changed depending of the game you are :D

Thanks for your point, again. I +rep you!

Good job, bro <3 What an awesome detailled guide!

I also took a look at your Kayle guide as she is my main.
I don't agree with second recall at all. Furthermore, I think Nashor's Tooth shouldn't be finished first. It's enought to get Stinger then rush Guinsoo's Gunblade.

Howerever, I like your writting style and design very much. Gj

Ya bro, Prince Hugin aka Aether Wing Kayle <3

Thanks very much for your sustain :D
I love kayle as well and shen, being my main champions of all times.
On Kayle, Tooth is unique to be even the first one, not only because of the AP it gives, but for enhanced auto-attacks :). All the time i played kayle, I did the same, and it works really amazing :D anyway, there are lots of different ways to build that champ, but i pref this one :D

Thanks again once more for your post <3

Hi there, I recently saw your guide, and runes and masteries worked great for top lane and support, after some messing around, jungle seemed a bit sluggish, decided to change masteries around and found removing the cunning tree, and copying the ferocity tree(1 exception) from top to work better for the clear time, and sustain in the jungle,

replaced double edge with feast

Hello, and thank you for your time.
I am glad that I know there are people who like my guide and I can be helpful.
To be honest, I can classify shen's place somewhere between Tier 1 and TIer 2 on jungler. I know is not a very strong one, but it's good enough to be able to carry an team.
I picked the Resolve tree for the simple fact that "Strength of the Ages" gives you very good and unique tanky status while you do the jungle, specially that with Shen you're going to be a very good tank.
I know that picking this you actually give up maybe on some damage and sustain, and on early levels it's getting pretty hard to clear the jungle.
I removed as well double edged sword and picked Feast, it's very good and strong pick for any early junglers.
You're right that, if you're removing the cunning tree and add into the Ferocity it gives you more sustain, specially Vampirism, which it's life steal could help you and gives you more sustain during all the game. But I split on both of them because I through that jungle buffs last longer, but that's just a personally pick.
You can try and go for it, of course, for Vampirism (more sustain) and bounty hunter (late game) or oppressor (early), while giving up on Wanderer and Runic Affinity.
But try to keep the originally Resolve tree because all of them are very important for Shen.

I hope I can be helpful, and thanks again for taking your time to write me.
Anytime I will answer you gladly any questions.
