Introduction
runes are pretty straight forward. they add to early game DPS and tankiness. straight up AD pen marks and quints, armor seals, and MR per level glyphs. you live pretty well with this set up.
do damage. Thats what your masteries are all about. get the extra point in turret damage boost, so when you get the kill top you take their turret and give your team positioning and gold boost.

here is where we get a little awkward. I posted the main items for someone lookin quickly who wants a DPS solo top Olaf.
my core Olaf items are: Frozen Mallet, Maw of the Malmortius, and Berserker's Greaves. I almost always take Blood Thirster. Last Whisper is a good early game item for our Q and E, but I usually dont keep it. attack speed is what makes Olaf truly OP. with his natural lifesteal late game, along with the bonus damage from all your bonus hp, you just need some attack speed to win. we can go plenty of places with this. Phantom Dancer is nice if you also want some movespeed. Madred's Bloodrazor is amazing if their team is goin tanky. Wit's End is always fun if you need more Magic Resist.
okay, here is how I play Olaf solo top:
start with Doran's Blade and head top. harass/farm with Q, wait to go b until you can afford: Boots Ruby Crystal and a Vision Ward. extra gold for hp pots is always nice. finish Frozen Mallet and Berserker's Greaves asap. while youre workin on them, pick up a Vampiric Scepter or two. get a Wriggle's Lantern for your early game. you'll be selling it later for your Blood Thirster. Choose if you need Magic Resist or damage more, and then build either Maw of the Malmortius or Blood Thirster depending on what you choose. You should pretty much win at this point.

I take a point in Q at level 1 because of its short cooldown and high damage, as well as a nice slow. its great for ganking their jungler and harassing. take E at levels 2 and 3. grab W at 4 for the little bit of sustain, and go back to maxing E. E should be done by level 9, because it does a lot of damage compared to most champs health at level 9. its the best move to have leveled up for mid game. Your actual damage output is from your W, but thats late game damage. E is early to mid, W is late game, and Q is harass/slow. it does some nice mid game damage too.
Heal and Flash will get you fed. you're strongest when you're low hp, but you want to live though the fight. Heal is exactly what you need to win those brawls when youre at low hp. its also nice so you can spam your E without any worry of losing HP.
Teleport and Exhaust are the only other possible summoner spells for Olaf in my opinion. he's a tough brawler, he just needs mobility and surprise. Teleport to a ward and exhaust their carry, and destroy him. these two are really great alternatives. theyre actually better late game, but Olaf is best if he gets fed early game.
