Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Threats to Renekton with this build
|Aatrox||Just push the lane and keep him pressured, if he tries to push out punish him and force him to trade.|
|Jax||Probably one of the easiest match ups for you. E towards him, bait out his E, W him, Q him, AA and then E away. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.|
|Nasus||Very easy match up, combo him whenever you get the chance and you will have an easy time.|
|Lissandra||You can easily kill her Pre Lvl 6 with a few combos just dodge her Q's and its GG.|
Hello, my name is d3ity and I am here to give you a short but fairly detailed guide to Renekton! In my opinion Renekton is one of the best Top laners at the moment and in this guide I will hopefully convince you to think the same. So enjoy and don't be shy to leave feedback.
Pros / Cons
Super strong laning phase.
Pretty mobile in lane.
Can be easily kited.
Hard to come back from behind.
Has trouble vs Ranged champs in lane.
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Okay so the reason for these runes are pretty straight foward.
9x Armour Seals; The pretty much standard Seals on almost any champion at the moment.
9x Magic Resist Glyphs; Simply because 9/10 times there is going to be an AP champion on the other team.(IF for whatever reason the other team has only AD damage dealers then you could run 9x CD Reduction Glyphs)
3x Attack Damage Quints; Same reason as the Attack Damage Marks.
Okay so secretly this is the part I am most excited to write about.
Up until patch 5.22 I would run 21-9-0 on my Masteries but with the new mastery sets that has all changed for me. While a lot of people will still run the equivalent of 21-9-0 on these new masteries which would be 18-0-12 I choose to run 12-0-18 and heres why;
Grasp of the Undying
Yes that's right, 1 mastery made me change the way I set out my masteries!
The reasoning behind it is pretty simple but makes such a HUGE difference in lane as Renekton. Before you had pretty decent sustain and your damage output/trade potential was great but with this mastery your Sustain is insane and your damage/trading goes through the roof in the laning phase. The fact that it STEALS LIFE = to 3% of YOUR maximum HP from enemy champions is insane. Oh and did I mention you can do it every 4 seconds that your have been in combat?? So basically whenever you have been hitting minions, taking damage or dealing damage to a champion for 4 seconds your next Auto Attack steals life from an enemy champion. MADNESS.
Okay so here we are at one the strongest parts of Renektons game.
The main thing you will want to do against most champions is bully, and bully hard. Once yout hit level 3 and have your Q, W and E you become an absolute powerhouse in lane and your combo for trading is just off the chart.
The combo goes like this;
Slice and Dice Towards the enemy, Auto Attack, Cull the Meek, Auto Attack, Ruthless Predator, Auto Attack(This AA will proc your Grasp of the Undying ), Slice and Dice Away from enemy.
Continue to do this whenever the opportunity arises just don't forget to CS!
If you manage to get your enemy down to under 50% HP, are level 6, and have got your first back items you can most probably dive them under tower to secure a kill or just straight up fight them and win fairly easy but that is something you have to judge for yourself by assessing how much damage you are dealing and depending on enemy abilities etc!
Another small point I would like to add is warding, heres where you should look to put your wards when available;
ThePINK dots are the standard wards I place.
The Black dot is where i place one if I think the enemy jungler is counter jungling.
There are 2 situations that can happen here but both will link together at some point as I will explain.
Situation 1: Okay so going on the assumption that you have won your lane or the game is past the laning phase here's what to do if the enemy team is forcing fights/Trying to skirmish. Whenever possible group up and either protect your carries or dive onto the enemy carries. You also want to be around to help them take objectives.
If your Carries seem particularly squishy or are significantly behind then you want to protect them if the enemy team has a hard engage or any assassins. Although if possible or if you feel that your Carries are not going to get dived onto then you do whatever you can to get to that back line and start tearing through it and peeling/zoning them away the best you can.
Situation 2: Split push your *** off and Teleport for the 5v5 fights at objectives or whenever your team needs your assistance. This is what to do if the enemy team isn't grouping/your other lanes are far ahead. Force the enemy team to come and deal with you and open up the map for the rest of your team to push too. Just make sure you don't get 5 man gank sqauded and keep those wards handy.
I hope you enjoyed my guide. Match history and some video clips to come. I know its not very long and it is my first ever guide so ALL feedback/criticism is much appreciated. Thanks for your time!
