how is this a tank build?

Her E scales with her AD. You can engage with your E and be tanky enough, and with your crazy lifesteal and heal you will survive enough, especially with a tanky jungler.

Lawl dude,this is not tanky at all,you cannot use your shield like that.It's cool-down simply does not let you to.You will never be as tanky as a normal fighter Riven.This build is too oriented on damage.This is not my style,I like tanky DPS Riven.And dude, Riven is one of the tankiest characters I have seen( Xin Zhao...).
Don't rely on your jungler,you're the solo top,your jungler sure will not hang at the top lane at all times,so you to be yours.Also,your build,it's not quite promising early game.You don't know will you face 1 or 2 enemies.You must rely on yourself,but with the build like that,you just cannot.Cool-down on your shield is just too big for the combat,you will not fight like 5 seconds,because that is not enough to kill somebody if with you build.You don't have too much damage early game,but enemy will sure buy some HP,armor if it's not a noob.I have seen AD Rivens,but I know they are not as nearly as good as tanky DPS Riven.

We will see,it's enough to build Randuin's Omen, Warmog's Armor, Force of Nature, Atma's Impaler, Guardian Angel, Trinity Force to be far,far stronger that yours.Try the build and see for yourself.It is important about buying order(about all builds,and your,I also dislike your buying order).Also,because they have 2500 elo,doesn't mean that they know to play Riven.Let me give you my view of her.She is a classical combo dependent champion.It is not about brute force,it's about utility and thinking,so it's all in mind,time it right and you will see how tankyDPS Riven really shines.I will not down-vote this build because of the fact that we have totally different thinking,but try that build out,and see for yourself.Also,if build doesn't work for you find my Riven guide and try that one out,if not that,try the second one,that is for DOMINION.If you guys really think that AD [rive]] is better,I will give it a shot and make a build in my guide for her,but I still think tankyDPS Riven is a lot more better.

I think you see Riven differently than I do. On that, I can totally agree. I might try out your build sometime. I don't see why not. But I'm not sure if it'll work for me, as I really rely on my lifesteal and ability to kill all the enemy quickly to be my tankiness. Maybe you could try out my Riven, you may be surprised at how surprisingly tanky she is.
