There are just so many better first major items to get instead of that. Same goes for revolver. Good item, not as good as an early Guise on Kat.
Zhonya's Hourglass, for example, is a great first major item if you go up against an AD midlaner. Another would be Abyssal Scepter (a little less better but still).
Or I could be talking out of my ***. Either way, WOTA + Gunblade is stupid.
And besides, the spellvamp from both items isn't really that helpful. Only one of Kat's spells are single-target, and it isn't even that strong.
It's an extremely cost-effective item for AP. But people rush Haunting Guise these days for the early defense and gank power.
I agree it's cost efficient but i find it better to go straight Blasting Wand with the gold needed to buy Hextech Revolver or even earn another 400 gold for a quick Needlessly Large Rod.
Or maybe that's just me HA HA...
Wrong, of the two, you should get Hextech Gunblade. Sinister Steel and Death Lotus both scale from AD as well, and guess what? Both are your main damage output.
Otherwise, everything else you say is fairly accurate.
I stand corrected. Season 2's Will of the Ancients has higher spellvamp and cheaper, that's why i recommend it. hehehe...

I will give you my opinion here while reading your guide so i could enumerate my comment.
1. Hextech Revolver pre-6 won't help you regen as much as a couple of Health Potions will.
2. You should never buy Hextech Gunblade and Will of the Ancients together. NEVER!!! I suggest Will of the Ancients if you must because you really won't need the damage, although the active is nice.
3. I strongly suggest you complete Rabadon's Deathcap first before you buy spellvamp item because you won't really heal any if you don't do any substantial amount of damage.
4. This is a personal preference, I don't really buy any spellvamp item on Katarina because if she got focus on by the enemy team the spellvamp will not save you. Aim for more damage and buy Zhonya's Hourglass instead if you ask me.
5. Enchantment: Furor is a waste of gold. Katarina has high mobility on her own. It only grants bonus speed if you do single attack or single target spell, you're not an Auto-Attack champ, and your only single target spell is Shunpo.
6. "I won't go into detail on the other items as they are pretty straight forward."
BIG mistake. You should always explain EVERYTHING when making a guide.
7. Your guide is a bit incomplete. (I'm being generous when i say "a bit".)
Also, the stuff that is there, it is too white, make it more attractive to read
Also, suggesting Katarina to play mid AND top without making a top-specific build is just silly. Also, putting Kata botlane can work to your advantage sometimes. Lane swaps can sometimes turn the tide.
Eh? I'd rather not miss out on exp and farm, tbh. Who knows, I could probably get a kill without Needlessly Large Rod.
Don't make these kinds of assumptions please. Explain everything in detail.
So explain to me why this should be a reason why your guide should be bad? There's no actual reason why your first guide couldn't also be an extremely good guide.
But in this case, this is a bad guide, in terms of build, explanation and structure.
