Explentation: In my opinion reduced dmg is better then 6 dmg when taken dmg. You will save much more health and can gank more effectively.
Welcome to Olaf, The Berserker guide by Playmode!
So, this is my second guide created with the reason. I top builds on Olaf, and they are pretty good, but there are always something with what I must disagree. Mostly builds. So i wanted to show u this build which works fine for me, ranked or normal. Dragonborn has joined the league!
Pros / Cons
- Big HP pool
- 340 TRUE DMG every ****ing 4 SECS!
- Stun, Fears, etc immune duo to ultimate! (Free run)
- Tanky champion but still is dealing nice amounts of damage
- Nice MS thanx to Quints, Masteries and Trinity Force
- Good wearer of Oracle Elixir
- Low time ultimate, do not waste it for nothing!
- Your E is dmging u aswell, so we need build HP items
9x Greater Mark of Desolation - Every AD needs that. What is more, it works well with ur ult. 15 Mark, 6 Masterie, 30 Ultimate + 10% of all. For example, some1 have 200 armour. Now he have only 129 ;) Only other viable choice is Greater Mark of Alacrit[[ngle fights.
9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist - We wont buy MR items, so this helps a lot.
3x Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed - Going somewhere? (Better ganking from jungle, faster jungling, works well with ultimate)
I go 1-21-8 with new masteries. Here is some explentation why:
Summoner's Wrath - Your Ghost summoner spell will give u more speed, what u need on more effective ganking from jungle, chasing/escaping enemies, synergise weel with your ULTIMATE!
Hardiness , Tough Skin , Indomitable - Less dmg taken from monsters in jungle, better protection if enemy enters your jungle for counter-jungling.
Durability + Veteran's Scars - More HP, more tanky, more Reckless Swings!
Initiator - Faster jungling, easier ganking, again synergise well with your ultimate, the speed is our priority, no one catch/escape you. In this build we are focusing on all what can give us speed.
Evasion + Honor Guard - Less dmg, more tanky. We are off-tanks, if tank is dead or on your way to teamfight, you are the only chance of your team to engage enemy team.
Juggernaut - Bigger HP pool, you are builidng lot of health items so this help u a lot. What is more, it will give you 10% reduced disables time, what just help your speed.
Good Hands - Less time spent dead, less time beuing useless.
Swiftness - More speed? Yummy (speed is our priority, with ultimate it's your deadly tool)
Improved Recall - We dont need Summoner's Insight bec we dont have any spells in it, bigger mana pool is too useless. Rather 1 sec less to add u are more speed to jungling, and from that situations when u need fast fast fast to recall to avoid death.
IF U DONT LIKE DEFENSIVE WAY PLAYING OF OLAF, YOU CAN SIMPLY GO MORE OFFENSIVE WHAT I CAN SHOW U ON MY BUILD 2. ITEMS ARE THE SAME, AND THIS IS MY OLD WAY HOW I WAS PLAYING HIM.
I recommend playing defensive style, bec we are focusing on surviability, not dps. In my opinion, offensive masteries for melee dmg is only for ad carries and these champions who have fast and effective autoattacks, olaf is different. Olaf main source of damage is E, his awesomeness is lifesteal and slow, his movement speed and his IMMUNE. But as I said, if u feel to go more offensive way, feel free to do it.
Ghost - Ragnarok + this speedy thing, Trinity Force, Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed, Swiftness , something like Frozen Mallet and your victims will be soon... wait, where are they? Too good for escaping, just press D + R and say hello.
Smite - We are junglers, hunting dragons, we must STEAL the power of that flying *****es, we are DRAGONBORN!
OTHER VIABLE SPELLS
Exhaust - Replace this with your Smite when u are not goin jungle, disabling enemies dmgers can be rly the reason of winning team fights, what is more, this spell is just amazing for 1v1, chasing, escaping.
DO NOT PICK
All other summoner spells. ****ing simply.
We will pick Vicious Stikes for first bec of bonus DMG and Lifesteal what is necessary for jungle. Ask ur team for pull blue golem for u, bec u will need to spam w for lifesteal. Second skill will be Undertow. Try to throw your axe through all monsters, and not very long, throw it with only minimal range so u will be able to pick it without moving and spam more often (TRICK: Throw it only after autoattack, you wont lose your dmg). Some people like upgrading Reckless Swing for third level, pick this only if u need to gank very fast if ur teammates have trouble at lane, but upgrading Vicious Strikes on lvl 2 on lvl 3 will help u stay at bigger health in jungle. After that just simply upgrade Reckless Swing for big dmg and after level 9 you can choose what to upgrade between Q and W. Q for more CC, W for more survi and dmg. I prefer CC for chasing/ganking/escaping/disabling them in team fights.
This is my new favourite way how to jungle. Olaf is strong jungler and he dont need support of team to pull your blue golem, what is more, this is more effective way how to go, because you will get your experience faster duo to respawn of your monsters in jungle faster, when u are starting with them.Items and abilites are the same.
Start at golems, target big one first, use smite. Then wraiths, target big one first. Wolves, target big one first. Blue buff, target your golem first, use smite on 40% HP for 6% bigger damage. After blue buff fast recall home, then go again on golems, they will usualy respawn in time when u come to visit em. After that wraiths again, red buff and after red look for gank :)
You have your little yellow Wriggle's Lantern for a reason. First reason is effective mob killing, and second free ward every 3 min. This is the map where is the best to put wards to help ur team. Warding is work for supports, but why not to help them save little gold with ur again ,,FREE,, wards? Red circles are MOST IMPORTANT places where to put ward like Dragon's or Baron's caves or solo top / bot lane. Other to counterjungling or protecting your own jungle.
Vampiric Scepter - 15% Lifesteal Passive ( 12% Scepter 3% Masteries), 9% Lifesteal Active ( Vicious Strikes ). Your jungling can not be easier. What is more, you can build fast your Wriggle's Lantern for your jungling without wasting your gold on potions. What is more, your hunting on dragons will be easier and you will get FREE WARDS EVERY 3 MINUTES!!!
Mercury's Treads - Best boots in game, 25 MR, 35 Tenacity in boots, just AMAZING. (Pick Ninja Tabi only if they have lot of AD champions or fed Tryndamere, etc.)
Frozen Mallet - Slow em, dont make them go away, let them feel the power of your Reckless Swing . What is more, you will get more HP what u need for your W and E.
Warmog's Armor - More HP, more tanky, more DMG with W and Atma's Imapler.
Atma's Impaler - You have now very nice HP pool. 45 Armour for survi, 18% crit for lucky criticals, and massive of AD thanx to your big HP pool.
Trinity Force - E have 4 sec cooldown. With blue buff even lower. Movement speed, Health, Mana, Damage, more critical chance, what more u want!?
The Bloodthirster - Sell your lantern for this beautiful thing lategame.

I'm still new with my skills of making guides here, but I'm not new at league. Bec of that I will increase this guide later for a SURE! All I know is here bec I wanna show u how works champions in-game, help u master it earlier, and decrease amount of noobs in game, bec I hate them so much! (And I'm sure that I'm not alone...)
