Masteries
Introduction
Here's a short summary: get your passive on
Song of Celerity and you have a slow, and then if they try to get away, you can stun them with
Crescendo.
Hi guys, well this is my first guide, and I'm making it because people have complemented me on my
Pros / Cons
Pros
- Has Stun and Slow - Crazy Damage when you build AP - Others underestimate you - She can heal! |
SPACE | SPACE | SPACE |
Cons
- Squishy!!!! - Counter Jungle can destroy her - Generally can't win 1 on 1 fights - Very Mana/Blue Dependent |
Masteries
Defense is key for jungling when you're as squishy as

Skill Sequence
With a jungle Sona, there's only way to run. You have to up your
Good Summoner Spells to choose from
Well, its smite. You gotta have it to succesfully jungle. This is a must!!!
Great for gap closing and running away.
Very useful to chase down an enemy or flee from one :P
What to buy and why to buy
-
Durability against minions just when you start jungling. I usually sell it to get boots after I get philosophers stone. -
health regen and mana regen. You go OOM (out of mana) extremely quickly. And it also gives you a nice 5gps -
Health and gold per second. You are an extremely squishy character. You want to build as much health as you can. You get targeted in fights, so you want to survive as long as possible. You sell this near end game, you don't need to upgrade it to
Randuin's Omen. -
Again, survivability!!! -
mana + health + ability power. Must have as soon as possible so that you can gain the full effect of its bonuses. -
the
Infinity Edge of all AP casters -
in unison with your
Power Chord-
Hymn of Valor, grants ridiculous instant burt. -
has a great active and grants cooldown reduction -
Health + slow + AP = win
You can build her however you want, it always depends on how the game is going.
Jungling

The numbers show you which way you go. The Yellow circles tell you when to use smite.
When getting blue, you will need a very strong leash. I usually ask top(or whoever is closer) to damage them as much as they because its pretty much impossible for
Sona to kill it without a leash.
Use the pots!!! rather than your
Aria of Perseverance because you will be very short on mana early on. I rarely ever kill the golems on bottom because they are ridiculously hard to kill without smite, so only take them if you have smite and the health and mana for it.
After you kill the wraiths the second time, you should have more than enough money for philosopher's stone so go buy that and if you still have more you can always sell your armor for boots and go for an early gank.
The rest of the game is different every game. Look at the map at who needs ganks, whose lane you need to hold.
Also, you're a jungler/support. Get wards when you can. You're very vulnerable to counter jungles and if someone tries to gank you while jungling, you cannot win a 1 on 1.
Ganking
Now the fun part...
Usually I go for an early level 3 gank on bot (if I'm on the blue team) or top (if I'm on the purple team) if that lane was pushed to much by the opposing team, if not I just go back to the base and jungle around some more.
When you level up to 4, you can do some serious damage. Put 3 stacks on your
Power Chord turn on
Song of Celerity and use your
Power Chord on their ad carry/solo top. 40% movement speed reduction is quite significant. Now, you spam your
Hymn of Valor and
Song of Celerity to close the gap and deal a lot of damage with your teamates.
When you're level 6, its pretty much the same thing, but now you have an amazing 1.5 second stun with
Crescendo. What I sometimes do is if they think they're safe at the turret but have low health, I just surprise them by flashing in blasting
Hymn of Valor (which has quite a long range) and
Power Chord-
Hymn of Valor and back away from the tower taking usually 1 or 2 hits from it and getting the kill.
Team Fights
In team fights,
Sona's job is to heal heal heal and stun with her
Crescendo when necessary. [You are a support. Your most important job is to support.
Focus on healing, that's your most important job. W > Q > E. If you have blue buff and/or plenty of mana, spam all 3 if you can. If you go OOM, use only your heal.
Only use your ult when you there is 3 or more enemies who will get affected by it. It can also be used to help with your teammates:
Nunu,
Vladimir,
Galio,
Amumu. Be smart. Know what your team needs and when they need it. Every game is different and everything is situational.
For example, galio's ult,
Idol of Durand, gives a 2 second taunt and brings the whole team into position for
Crescendo which will cc the whole team for another 1.5 seconds totaling up to a good 3.5 seconds of crowd control.
