Champion Build Guide

The Stage is Set---Loggit's Jhin guide

By Loggit
About Me
Hi! I am Loggit, level 118 Neeko main preparing for the climb in season 10. I make guides for champions that I love, so that MUST mean Jhin is one of my favorites. Indeed he is. His late-game is insane, and it is very possible to 1v9 carry as him (surprisingly.) Once you start scaling, you get multikills constantly because of how strong he is.
About Jhin
Jhin is a now not so commonly picked, somewhat low ban rate critical strike ADC. With his high damage, brutal root, and insane range, he can lie in wait trapping the enemy jungle and one-shotting anyone who comes too close. His play style is an aggressive one, but works at both long range and maximum attack range. Early game, he is somewhat weak, but late-game can easily dominate the map with his range and get to 20 kills by 25 minutes. If you manage to get any kind of mastery on him, the enemy team will be absolutely terrified. He may be nerfed in the future, but this is honestly not that likely. His traps also make ganking some pretty dangerous business, as you can then see them coming and prepare for the triple kill.
How to Play
So, you just bought Jhin and you are excited to make ridiculously cool plays and get loads of kills and S's. But, you get into a round and realize that you don't actually know how to play him. You get the right items, but find it difficult to make good plays, misplace your traps, miss your W, and can't use your ult. You feel like giving up. Well, fear no longer! I can tell you exactly how to do this. You want to start with your Q, and later on this will become your finishing shot if they are close. Early on, you want to use this to farm minions, by getting the caster minions low then chaining that through them, getting all of the gold. You then auto the warrior minions to death, doing your best to last-hit them. When it comes to canon minions, you want to auto them then Q them once they are low. When it comes to Jhin's W, you do not EVER want to use it as a poke (unless you know it will kill the target). It deals low damage, but does have pretty ridiculous range, and will root the target if they have been recently hit by an ability or auto attack from an ally. !!this is not quite all true, if you take poke runes this is going to be your bread-and-butter!! So you want to have your support initiate with either an auto or an ability, then lock them down with your W. After this, try tossing a Q in their face, then auto as many times as you can. If they are half-health or below, then you can use your Ult and likely kill them. If you do not have Coup de Grace, then make that threshold 1/3 max health. There is not much else to do with your W, but it can be used in times that you are low but can not leave lane to put in some damage. As for Jhin's E, it is a trap. It can be somewhat awkward, but also incredibly destructive. It has some of the highest damage in his kit if you choose to lay low. However, early on in the game, it is not a very good ability. For placement, you can use it to make the river an impassible wall, or you can place them where your enemy ADC or Support are commonly walking through. It gives you vision of all enemies in its circle, and explodes for (possibly) extreme damage after a short period of time. Jhin's Ultimate is one of the strongest in the game. To give a quick description: it is an extremely long range set of auto attacks that can be fired in a cone in the chosen direction. In some more detail, it deals execute damage (damaged based on missing health), and acts similarly to auto attacks. The fourth shot infinty edgecrits, dealing incredibly increased damage. This crit strike is treated as a normal crit, and has the increased damage from the infinty edgeInfinity Edge. Each shot has a base damage of (first upgrade) 50, (second upgrade) 125, (third upgrade) 200, plus 20% Total Attack Damage. It looks to have more range than it actually does when you hover over it and look at the map.
Runes
Runes are often times personal preference, but on Jhin they are extremely based on personal preference. My favorite Keystone is Fleet Footwork because it gives you another boost of movement speed, making it very easy to give chase. You really can use pretty much any keystone you want on Jhin, but honestly he does suffer from immobility until he has at least 60% crit strike chance. Fleet Footwork's healing is not strong enough to justify it being the best, but it does work the best in my hands. You should try all of the rune sets that I have provided, and maybe try to create one of your own to see how you like all of the possibilities. Lesser and Secondary runes are just as personalized on Jhin (and pretty much every champion) as are the Keystones. Experiment with runes, see how you like them all, and have fun. This is honestly the best way to get good with the mechanics of a champion.
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading! This is my guide to Jhin, and it may not be the single most in-depth, but should give you enough insight to get to a good start with Jhin. Explore how he works, and have fun. He is very strong, and not difficult to learn, just difficult to play. He has a pretty low skill cap for a 3 difficulty champion, but it is there for a reason. He has no real combos, and is not particularly versatile. Mess around, have fun, play League, and make some nubs mad.
And remember...

This...is your curtain call.
