The Ultimate Guide to Yone Jungle [Patch 12.18]

By baeyry

Yone, The Unforgotten

Yone has always been one of those most banned and broken champions from his release. He can be playing top, mid, or ADC, but I will explain how you can play him as a jungler. I have a lot of experience with him and have played over 400 Yone jungle games. I played him mid before this I thought of this idea about 1 year ago.

This idea came to my mind over 1 year ago about 3rd march 2021 (Yes, I know the exact date). I have always been a jungle main and I used to play Kayn, but I was doing a very bad job and that's when I was thinking of maining Yone mid lane, and again I was losing a lot of games so I decided to play him as a jungler to see how it goes. The very first games were frustrating as I didn't know what to do much but after some time I was starting to climb with him.

Now the question:

Why Yone Jungle?

Yone has a ton of mobility, so ganks are really easy for him. He can easily E in then R to catch the enemy from escaping. You don't have much time in your E so try to use it as late as possible to where your enemy's escape is and use all of your abilities to let your ally finish the enemy up. He actually has a very fast jungle clear so help out your allies as early as possible to take first blood or help them get ahead, as that's a jungler's job.

Pros

An Assassin
High Mobility
Has CC
Fast jungle clear
Mid-Late game monster
Good Teamfights

Cons

Weak Early game
Hard to Master
High ban/pick rate
Pretty easy abilities to dodge
Important but some hard combos
Very low win rate
PASSIVE ABILITY
Way of the Hunter
Yone deals magic damage with every second Attack. In addition, his critical strike chance is doubled.

Critical strike chance above 150% is converted into 0.4 bonus attack damage per 1% additional critical strike chance.

Q
Mortal Steel
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Range: 475
Yone thrusts forward, dealing 20/40/60/80/100 (+ 105% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage.

On hit, grants a stack of for 6 seconds. At 2 stacks, this skill causes Yone to dash forward with a wave of wind that Knocks Up for 0.75 seconds and deals 20/40/60/80/100 (+ 105% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage.

W
Spirit Cleave
Cooldown: 16 seconds
Range: 600
Yone cleaves forward, dealing 5/10/15/20/25 (+5.5/6/6.5/7/7.5% target's maximum health) physical damage and 5/10/15/20/25 (+5.5/6/6.5/7/7.5% target's maximum health) magic damage.

If Yone hits, he gains 35 - 55 Shield (+55% bonus Attack Damage) for 1.5 seconds. The amount of Shield increases by 50% for each champion struck.

E
Soul Unbound
Cooldown: 22/19/16/13/10 seconds
Range: 300
Yone enters a spirit form for 5 seconds, leaving your body behind for the duration and gaining 10 - 30% ramping Move Speed.

When the spirit form ends, Yone snaps back to his body and repeats 25/27.5/30/32.5/35% of all damage he dealt to champions during this time. You may Recast this skill during spirit form.

Recast: End spirit form early.

R
Fate Sealed
Cooldown: 120/90/60
Range: 1000
Yone strikes all enemies along a path for 100/200/330 (+40% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage and 100/200/330 (+40% bonus Attack Damage) magic damage, teleporting behind the last champion hit and Knocking Up victims towards Yone.

Primary (Precision)

Lethal Tempo

Lethal Tempo has been Yone's best keystone as he is an auto attack champion. Even tho he still does a lot of damage from his abilities too, having the extra attack speed to do more damage between abilities is good as he builds attack speed items. Attack speed is important for him to do the most possible damage. When in your E you will be able to get it to 6 stacks but by the time you'll be back so that's why I don't use Lethal Tempo as much.

Triumph

Triumph is just the best options since you don't have many choices. It can help you to tower dive early and maybe get first blood. You don't need the shield from Overheal nor do you need the extra mana/energy regeneration from Presence of Mind, because you resource-less.

Legend: Alacrity / Legend: Tenacity

Attack speed is crucial for Yone, so taking Legend: Alacrity is a wise choice. But if the enemy team has a lot of heavy CC that you can't dodge, Legend: Tenacity is also another very good option, since you already get enough attack speed from items.

Last Stand

You can take any combat runes, but Last Stand is just the best as you don't have sustain which makes it a good choice to get it. If there's a Cho'Gath or Volibear on the other team, you can take Cut Down as they'll mostly build them as a tank. Coup de Grace is also an option but I don't use it as much.

My Favorite:

Sorcery

Phase Rush

Phase Rush is by far my favorite and most used rune. It gives you a ton of movement speed, paired up with Chilling Smite, your E and Nimbus Cloak you can get about to 750 movement speed with boots. It also gives you slow resist so it's easier to gank against enemies like Dr. Mundo or Nasus that slow a lot.

Why my favorite?
Phase Rush is my favorite rune as you can easily proc it with Q > W > AA or R > Q > AA. It's also very useful in skirmishes or so called teamfights where you can run around very fast and dodge every possible skill shot.

Nullifying Orb/Nimbus Cloak

Nullifying Orb synergizes really well with Immortal Shieldbow, but I get it only when they have atleast 3 or more AP Champions. Something to note is that Nullifying Orb's shield will activate before Immortal Shieldbow, so be careful. I still prefer Nimbus Cloak as you get a lot of movement speed.

Celerity

Celerity is good with basically any thing that gives you movement speed like Phase Rush. There isn't too much to say about it. Take it every game as you don't need ability haste from Transcendence nor do you need Absolute Focus, because if you get low, you won't be able to regenerate that health for the AD that it gives.

Waterwalking / Gathering Storm

You can get Waterwalking any time you want, but I recommend Gathering Storm better as Yone is a late game champion so the bonus AD you get is useful for him.

Domination

Predator / Dark Harvest

When going Predator you can go for an invade get a bit of gold from first blood and Treasure Hunter, then you can back if there's enough time and buy Boots so then the next time you gank, it'll be easier. It's basically like Phase Rush No.2. If you want better scalling and think that the game will continue for a lot of time, you can also get Dark Harvest for the AD it gives. Paired up with Gathering Storm you'll get even more.

Taste of Blood

Taste of Blood can be useful to have some healing when ganking. It can do a pretty good job paired up with Triumph as you will have even more sustain in tower dives. You can also take Cheap Shot but I like Taste of Blood just better because you're very squishy and still need a bit of healing.

Eyeball Collection

Since you're a jungler/assassin taking Eyeball Collection is your only choice as you don't need Zombie Ward or Ghost Poro since they're mostly used for supports. You can also go for an invade to get a bit of AD. If it backfires you will mostly get it stacked up by ganking or teamfights.

Treasure Hunter

When talking about "Hunter" runes, any is good on Yone, but I mostly like Treasure Hunter especially when taking Predator. It can give you some gold in invades, ganks or teamfights but any other rune you get also works. I like Relentless Hunter as well for some more movement speed. Ingenious Hunter could also work for Immortal Shieldbow since it's on a long cooldown. Ultimate Hunter is not neccesarry as you can still easily kill enemies without your ultimate.

For the jungle pathing, you always start red. Then you can take W level 2 so killing raptors and krugs will be a little bit easier because of the shield and the damage in a cone. Then you go to the wolves and then blue. If you think that the enemy jungler will get the scuttle crab before you, you can get it after you've gotten the blue buff and then do the gromp. From then you can either gank mid or top.
Thank you for sticking around!

Thank you for looking at this guide!

This guide was about my Yone jungle and how you can try it out for yourself! When I started playing him as a jungler I started climbing with him and I hit diamond 2! Right now I am platinum 3 and If I can get to diamond, then so can you!

Thank you for reading this guide and never give up! :)
