Differences between Summoners Rift and Twisted Treeline for Kayle


Kayle is played similarly on Summoner's Rift and Twisted Treeline, so experienced Kayle players will have no problems adjusting. She can be played both a hybrid style and a more AP oriented style. Currently I have the hybrid runes and abilities listed above, but I will go more in depth on both later on in the guide.

Team comps and Champions good with Kayle

I main support in SR so I tend to try to save my teammates more than I do myself. Me and my teammates usually like running "all in" champions with Kayle.



With Kayle present, Kha'zix can safely dive into the enemy team face first and deal his burst damage onto the carry. He will be safe for a few seconds which gives you and Darius to catch up into the team fight. In pursuit sometimes Darius is always just a few inches short of landing that grab. You can fix this easily by giving him a boost in speed which will greatly increase his threat. The enemy will need to position better knowing that Darius can close the gap even better with a speed boost.



Similarly to Kha'zix, if you have a bold enough jungler to try and insec them, you can ult them so that they can safely do it. Imagine a special delivery from Lee Sin for you a Lissandra to devour. Lissandra herself could probably solo someone, but with you its pretty much guaranteed. Lissandra could also dive in and initiate since she could ult herself, and you could follow up and ult her as well in case she gets focused.

Summoner Spells, Masteries, Runes, Abilities

Summoner Spells


Summoner spells are standard for both SR and Twisted Treeline for both types of Kayle play types. Flash gives an escape or can help secure a kill. Ignite helps with lane pressure and kill securing as well.

Masteries

You should use these masteries until you are comfortable with Kayle. Once you think you can control her mechanics very well, then you can take the 9 points out of defense and put them in Utility. I also typically would go into utility for AP Kayle. I would get 3 points in movement speed, 1 in meditation,3 in summoners insight,1 in alchemist and 1 in culinary master. You may also opt to go into the attack speed for hyrbid if you prefer, but I like the extra bit of cooldown reduction.

You can use this rune page if you are going a hybrid oriented Kayle. I would even consider using this if I was going AP Kayle, because an AP Kayle still auto attacks alot. If you prefer to be a straight burst damage go with:

This ability sequence is for the AP style, but can also be used for the hybrid style as well. This is because Kayle's Q scales off of both attack damage and ability power.

Building Kayle

I just want to make it clear before I proceed and explain item builds that if the game lasts long enough there will be many similar items. When I say AP and Hybrid I do mean in terms of early-mid game playstyle, rune pages, and masteries. They differ enough to matter early and mid game, but eventually late game they'll both seem the same.

Core Items for AP



You your main damage will be your Q and unlike your E, the damage comes all at once. So building the Blackfire Torch will give you an early burst. The lichbane will make it so that your auto attacks will compliment the Blackfire Torch magic damage amplification.

Core Items for Hybrid


A hybrid Kayle focuses on both attack damage, ability power, and attack speed.


Items that are good for both AP and Hybrid

Nashor's Tooth adds more damage the more AP you have so this is why it's beneficial for both. Since all your abilities except your ultimate scale off of AP you would want to build AP later on.

Rageblade not only adds both AD and AP, but will also give you lifesteal and spell vamp if you get low. Additionally for having all these stats, it makes you grow bigger too :P

As stated earlier, since all your abilities do scale off of AP, the Blackfire Torch will increase the damage of both your Q and E. From mid to late game, the added damage is insane.

Wooglet's is a good item when you need more armor, but also because it gives a tremendous amount of ap.

Other good options that are situational would be Void Staff Zephyr

Techniques

A good technique when laning to use your heal on yourself for the speed boost. You then run towards them and Q them. You then activate your E and slap their booty for a few seconds. They are slowed and definitely cannot trade early on with Kayle's attacks. This technique, however, is not as easy as it sounds. You must be close enough that when you do heal yourself, you can close the gap to Q them immediately. Some players can react fast enough when they see you heal yourself to run away in time to not get Q'd. To overcome this misjudgement of distance is to just play more with Kayle. You'll eventually find that sweet spot where you can do this technique effectively.

I see many people using Kayle's ult incorrectly. They will see a player or themselves get really low and then ult them. You should be using Kayle's ult to mitigate as much damage as possible. So for example, if you see Kha'Zix leaping in on you or your teammates with his teammates closely behind, you should ult that target to prevent the jump, missile, and claw damage along with any potential damage his teammates may deal. You will then have a vulnerable Kha'zix who has no escape except for maybe a flash right in front of you.
