Unfortunately Shrillex, like many things, a few will ruin it for the rest :(
Really, if you want to base your build on another, it's not that hard to recreate it, modify it as you please and give recognition. Having a copy button right there, though, just makes it too easy for people that are not genuinely trying to contribute meaningful builds, too tempting for them abuse it, screw around and troll.
If you really want to improve on someone's build, recreating it shouldn't be a big deal, especially since you would already have it planned out in your head. The description part, even if you tweak and edit the original, it is still frustrating for the original author. No matter what, they will feel like someone is taking credit for their work. So I think the description should be started from scratch anyways.
I'm pretty sure the majority of people will agree with these statements, but as always feel free to let us know if you don't :)

Now if we can only solve the spam rating issue.
People really make it hard to want to make these step by step guides, knowing that when they see it and realize its better they will thumbs down it to make theirs look better.
How about an option to not allow a rating?

As Matt said.
I am not annoyed that much about the info that person copies. Since ppl will know it that it is stolen. Its the Layout and other stuff that makes your guide a YOUR guide. And allowing ppl to just copy paste it was a bit hmmm odd :) Now you can export your own and this is how it should work from the begining. Great job Matt. Thx again.

@CH Were does a build show up on lists on the site if it has no rating? We discussed this but, the obvious answer is "the bottom" and so its not going to do anyone any good to have a non rated build. You can already make draft builds, they are private and won't get rated....

"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning."
How about an option:
Submit to Rating systems: Allowing your build to climb up and be listed as a top build.
Don't Submit to Rating systems: Your build will be viewable by public if searched, but cannot climb in rankings to reach top rated sections. Instead based on views and comments your builds will be organized?
Shooting from the hip.
Or atleast add a MUST POST TO RATE system?

The original concept was to allow people to share and improve builds. Sounded great on paper but unfortunately certain users have taken advantage of it to steal builds rather than improve and share, so it's gone :)
If people continue to blatantly copy builds we will start taking harsher actions, particularly when the build descriptions themselves are copied.
