Agree with Nameless, it's more about the mental aspect for me.

Being beaten by your own father after making a mistake is just... wrong :|

A whole generation seemed to do just fine under that principle. Heck, several generations for that matter. Your generation is too squishy. Beating your kids makes them build tanky for life. :V

-Verbally repremanding your between 1-6. fine

-Spanking your child when they are between 6-10. fine.

-Grounding or verbal repremands from 11-Death. fine as well.

-Beating your child IS NEVER OKAY.

There's a difference between punishment and abuse. What this guy did to his daughter with CEREBAL PAULSY is abuse. And it was because she "illegally downloaded music" or that's what I've heard.

I'm fine with the idea of spanking a child, but boderline assault....Yeahhhh no.

I'm not gonna lie~ What she got really was not a "Beating" that was a lickin' at best. Yeah the guy was layin' into it with the belt but belts don't even hurt that badly.

In my opinion, beatings involve fists, wooden objects, electrical cords, **** that actually does damage. **** that's actually going to impact you.

I do agree in a sense with some of what Toshabi is saying, but not everything he is saying. Mostly I'm agreeing that this wasn't a hard beating. A belt isn't even going to do more than leave a welt or a red mark.

I wouldn't agree that any logical man would hit their child. I would even go as far as to say a good parent could probably get most messages across without ever having to touch their child.

But I will also say that ever child is different, some are INSTINCTIVELY more rebellious and wild natured than others, and as a parent sometimes you run out of ideas/options and may be unsure of how to react.

If you're within the ages of 14-18, of course you're gonna feel like no child should ever be hit and anybody who thinks to hit a child should never have kids. But as you get older, and I mean over the age of 21, your views on children and views on teenagers between the ages of 14-18 do change and evolve and you look back on what happened to yourself and see things differently as well.

This is not a cliche thing guys, it happens to everybody when they get older. I can tell you now I was saying the same thing when I was 18, and now I can objectively say, I don't know what the **** I would do if I had a rebelious kid. Lol.

You ever been hit with a belt buckle? Those are metal, hard, and possibly sharp. They leave more than just welts or red marks, try cuts and blood.

Not that bad lol.

But I've always had a high pain tolerance and tough skin so what's my word good for.

Yeap. Those can cut you.

I still don't think belts are that bad.

Wooden cooking spoons are no fun, but not really that bad either I guess, looking back. Electrical cables are worse than belts.

Erm, I kinda agree with Jeffy. I mean seriously, who here has NEVER illegally downloaded something?

Yeah, I thought so. Everyone and their mother does it.

Me.

I didn't ever download anything illegally on someone elses computer in ~2005 who was also a politician.

It's all about context.

it's not the just physical hitting that makes it a beating. Screaming and swearing at your child does just as much damage mentally as hitting them would physically.

So, it's the swearing and spanking that mean this child will have a terrible life?

What about the state judge with pirated music on his computer?

Seven years ago, that **** was a HUGE deal. He would have been martyered, his life would have been completely ruined if that music was found.

Remember, this was back in ~2004 when people went to jail for pirating music, and he was a state employee.

You think it's 'normal' to beat your kid for doing something wrong?
Don't get kids. Ever.

**** yeah.

You think that children learn when they aren't punished?

Also, the actions that took place in the video were not what i would consider a "beating" or what anyone should consider a beating for that matter.
Tri lane for life.

Point being some people are just fanatic about certain things.

Apparently this fathers thing was the law.
