Soul Fighter and TFT - What are we getting

New Chibi Soul Fighter Gwen, a new game mode - Soul Brawl, a Choncc narrative story, and much more coming to Teamfight Tactics for the Soul Fighter Event next month.

Every Summer, players get a special event from Riot, last year was Star Guardian 2022, and while it was fine and dandy, this year their Summer Event is bringing it up a notch with the new Soul Fighter theme.

Inspired by popular fighting games and anime tournament arcs, Soul Fighter, is bringing a lot of cosmetics, modes, and in-game events in four Riot titles: League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift, and Teamfight Tactics.

Teamfight Tactics changes include a brand new mode called Soul Brawl, a new Chibi with its mythic version, the new mini Legends species Khaat'Sai, the new arena Tournament of Souls, and a narrative called the Choncc Dome.

Without further ado, let's get into the details of each of them.

New Tacticians and Mini Legends in TFT

In this TFT patch 13.13, current players are either rolling for the new DRX Aatrox Chibi that just released or are still trying to snag a Little Devil Teemo. Meanwhile, Riot is preparing another neat Chibi for this Soul Fighter event, and that’s Gwen.

Following the theme, Soul Fighter Gwen is gonna have unique features that refer to the Soul tournament, especially her finishing animation which includes a jump kick right in their face, and taking a selfie after (Like the picture above).

Along with a new tactician, we are getting a new Little Legends Species: Khaat’Sai. In this Skin Spotlight video you can check out the incoming Little Legends Species.

A Brand New Arena – Tournament of Souls

Like in every huge event, we get an special arena, this one will be the Tournament Arena, where all of the Tournament of Souls is going to be celebrated.

Game Mode – Soul Brawl

And which games are going to be played in this new arena, well Teamfight Tactics is going to have its own special mode with the name of Soul Brawl.

The game mode takes place across two stages.

  1. Training Phase: Compete for Soul Power against tacticians, with this resource you not only will strengthen your Soul Crown but it will provide additional loot options.
  2. Tournament Phase: Play in a Best-of-Three bracket tournament, if you win you move further, if you lose, you get eliminated, no second chances.

The new temporary game mode will pay homage to the competitive fighting games scene, especially with the tournament phase featuring a Best-of-Three bracket tournament. Much like in previous sets of temporary game modes, you are going to be able to play this mode until the event runs out.

New Narrative Mode – The Choncc Dome

Similarly to the Spirit Blossom Event in 2020, Choncc Dome is this year’s narrative event. In the Choncc Dome, both Champions and Tacticians team up to prepare for the Tournament of Souls (Like in anime arcs).

Not many details are disclosed yet on the narrative history, but regards rewards, the Choncc Dome will be accompanied by an exclusive Event Pass+ (There’s going to be a free version, probably).

When the Event Soul Fighter is going to be available?

It is scheduled to launch on Thursday, July 20th, and will be live until August 28th - almost a six-week total. A little bit later than usual due to the Summer Week Break, but that 3rd week of extra time may help polish everything to make it a perfect event.

About the new patch 13.13, this one is going to be a massive one with changes to over 100 augments, Legends effects, improvements to Traits, and finally nerfs to Zeri, Zeke’s, and Bastion (R.I.P Locket too).
