The new LoL game mode Arena is rocking in popularity

You can even find tier lists of the new LoL game mode without even being live in the official servers.

Game modes are a hot topic in the League of Legends community, mainly due to the lack of new ones mostly. But this time things are different with Arena, the new 2v2v2v2 game mode, which despite not being out in the main server is already amassing a set of followers who will like the game to be a main-stay.

Reactions on Arena – New LoL game mode

The 2v2v2v2 mode centered around deathmatch rounds was released in the PBE about two weeks ago, and since day one of its release players are going crazy about it. Comments like “the new game mode saved league of legends”, or a “breath of fresh air” were thrown around by many Reddit users and League content creators.

To have a sense of the hype behind it. If you just log in to the PBE server with a fresh account right now and queue up for the mode, you'll get a match in four to five seconds! (Despite the average time saying it is 20 seconds of waiting time).

Moreover. the addition of a ranked ladder (with the Gladiator rank) has made the competitive players look around to find the best comps and champions.

Tier list, guides, and highlights for the new LoL Mode

Without delay, we have tier lists

Tier lists are a staple of competitive gaming, if you have played League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, or any competitive game you would have known already about them.

Players do really want to know what’s the strongest X (champ, build, etc) to have a higher chance to win games. Either by playing the OP picks, banning them, or acknowledging which ones are worth respecting. That's why Tier Lists are to these day one of the most searched content..

LS's and Elite500's Arena Tier List

So expecting one tier list this promptly was a stretch considering how little time the game has been out, yet none other than LS(Analyst and previous LCK caster) and Elite500(High elo streamer) created a tier list of ALL the champions in Arena.

Both content creators have been open in their livestreams about their excitement on the new game mode. Picks to highlight from this early tier list are Kayn and Syndra as the most OP, and the tier Z being conformed by the likes of  Corki, Kayle, Shaco, Zyra and Heimerdinger.

Not saying tier lists are everything though, you still need a grasp of the fundamentals of the game or understand your champion to its fullest.

New LoL Gamemode Guides

Alongside the tier lists, Elite500, known as one of the best Vladimir out there, also created two guides talking about champion synergies with the unique mechanics of the new mode, his first guide being Paladin Mordekaiser, a setup that makes the juggernaut into a healing support machine in the game (with specific augments).

Early Gameplay Highlights for the new LoL Gamemode

But not everything is competitive, players and content creators are having a ton of fun with the new game mode. For instance, in the Protatomonster's Youtube channel, you can find compilations of flashy plays with commentary. of many steamers trying out the new mode.

Talking about streamers, the game mode is doing fine in the livestreaming platforms such as Twitch, where you can find many streamer channels playing out the mode.

Despite the good feedback and playrate, there is always going to be detractors of the game. Comments that go as far as saying that the lack of minions or objectives does not make any sense and makes the game mode boring...

Still, the positive comments heavily outweights the negative regards the game mode itself. Discussions on balance and bugs well… is another topic.

What’s different with Arena, the new LoL Game Mode?

From the older ones such as former Twisted Treeline and Dominion to the modern era of modes with Nexus Blitz and All For One (Debatable), all of the game modes has something in common, a new fresh perspective on how the game can be played. Arena is taking that one step further.

With an entire mode revolved entirely around battling it out in 2v2 fights, this is going to cater to the players that only like going straight to the action and nothing more, 0 minions or objectives, only champions in a ring battling it out.

Still, there are elements of objectives in prioritization of plants or using well the champion cameos, and customization plus strategy with augments selection, unique comps, and item builds. Besides that, only the fiercest gladiators will end up being crowned as champion.
