Maybe a very stupid question, but it seems a good one to me.
Life steal means that you steal life.
If someone is shielded, that is not "life".
You'd say, that shields do not count for lifesteal,
Is this true?

I think Lifesteal is healing for the amount of damage you do. So since you're dealing damage to a shielded champ you're healing as well.

Agreed, and add that auto attacks ignore spell shields. Also skills that apply on-hit apply lifesteal too.

Agreed, if u deal dmg - u get life. Same with SpellVamp

It still happens on shields. It doesn't happen on Kayle during her ult though.

One would think that since lifesteal's requirements are merely doing damage with an auto-attack, that doing damage to a shield would still give you health.
So, to the best of my knowledge, lifesteal still happens against shields.

Now my question would be, do you still lifesteal if you attack trynd in ulti mode and he's at one hp.

You can hit 500 against a minion which has 300 hp.
You will still get lifesteal from the 500 attack.
Same with the Tryndamere ultimate, but he doesn't have 300hp, he just has 1 hp ;P
