Odd Items on Kassadin?

Hey everyone, I'm interested in picking up for a staple mid. I like his kit a lot but I never really got into him. But since I'm looking for a champion to fill my "Assassin Mid" role, he looks like my best fit.

My question is, as he is a melee range AP assassin that does auto attack, would it be viable or worthwhile to build or ?

Naw It's not. Kass's kit doesn't allow him to tank up damage while autoattacking.

Diana can do so because her ult and E help stall for her autoattacks while her W helps to tank up damage.

Alright well now I know. I never have playyed an AP assassin before. (I don't consider one) so i was curious.

I'm guessing just go for DFG deathcap then? XD

I once made a Kassadin go 0/5 or something of the sort when I was playing Talon. Outside of laning phase, he bought RoA and Malady, and hard-carried his team despite how badly he'd been doing, getting various quadras and triples. I have no idea how it worked, I have no idea why it worked. All I know is one thing: It worked.

So Malady could be something to consider. :P My guess is my team was just plain ******ed and completely ignoring the Kassadin auto-attacking them to death, but who knows, maybe it actually is legit.

But yeah Gunblade and Nashors are both bad. He doesn't really auto-attack because QE does a lot of damage and it's on a really low cooldown, so you basically just QE, wait ~3 seconds, QER in and kill someone.

If you want to pay some assassination power for sustain, Hextech Gunblade could be a great solution cause you also deal AA dmg with your W and AOE dmg with your E, but i think Nashor's Tooth isnt viable as an assassin with the AS and the CDR. you do more DPS but less burst.

Pretty much no.
You only ult to get into melee range when chasing singular targets down but that's already rare in teamfights.

So his W isn't at a true source of his damage and there's no point in amplifying it? I don't play assassins, Im actually clueless.

Diana builds it for the AS and CDR which procs her AoE passive, it increases her damage by a lot. Kass doesn't usually desire to stay in the middle of the fray, and his ult doesn't necessarily place him in AA range (hers usually does unless they push her/jump away). I don't think any of those item's is noteworthy on Kass but could be wrong.
