so lately in the LCS, Elise and Lee Sin are being played or banned in every match that is going on. My question is why these two currently? Was there a buff in items/champions that caused them to be used more?

They can put down a lot of early pressure and overall are very versatile junglers. They also bring massive utility when played well. Elise with enough CDR can throw down 2 second stuns every 8 seconds and become untargetable about every 10 seconds and lee can change fights with a good kick.

Not to mention they are strong at taking early objectives which is super important in solo queue. lcs

Yeah both of them deal a lot of damage early game, have good mobility, ok tankiness, good CC, and transition okay into the mid & late game. These junglers have the greatest potential to make plays, and snowball their lanes

Both have excellent early game pressure and their versatility and utility allows them to complement loads of team comps. They can build tankiness quite well, have great objective control, and are strong duelists on top of that. The capacity for early to mid game impact both champions have to snowball lanes and change team fights more than makes up for both having lesser late games.

With CDR Elise gaining some limelight for 2 second stuns every 6 seconds with max CDR that's easy to obtain (Lucidity Boots, Spirit of Golem, Locket, and Max Sorcery Mastery). She also can become untarget-able or try to dive a carry every 8 seconds with all that CDR.

Lee Sin has similar ability for diving carries and as stated Vynertje, his kick will completely turn a fight when used properly.

I do not know if you've noticed but not just so big tournaments always dominated by figures that strategic projections may be something to do or type elise lee. It seems to me that players at this level already compete with Stob prepared tactic. Just that they make one mistake and you can say goodbye, because in such matches Score 0-0 is maintained for 20 minutes of the game.

But doesn't Lee have a bad lategame? so if he screws up his early game is it too late to do much for his team for mid and lategame?

Yeah, but he transitions into a tank and still brings very good utility with ult.

And because tanky items are cheaper to build (taking their usefulness into account), they can still get pretty tanky and be useful late game. Lee's mobility is absolutely insane (2 jumps on low cd) and that helps out a lot.

There are a couple things that haven't been answered yet I feel needs to be addressed. It seems that no one has answered the real question of "was there a buff." In a word, kinda. non of their item set have been buffed, and neither of these two have been either. What happened really was two things: Feral Flare for nerfed, bringing out an indirect buff to Spirit Stone junglers, particularly Spirit of the Elder Lizard junglers. And then Kha'jix got nerfed, bringing him down from the top spot as a jungler.

Lee and elise were strong before, during, and after the flare nerfs. Flare was a soloqueue item, and now its a useless item.

Kha was top dog (or insect I guess) but lee and elise were still up there at the time. Were they ever better picks than him? After the last nerf he received before the massive one that dropped him out of competitive play, yes I believe they were better picks. At the height of his dominance though? No way, but they were undeniably still up there as top 5 junglers.
