[10.21] ScaredyKat's d1 Jhin ADC Guide! The Stage is Set

By ScaredyKat
About Me
Hello! Its ScaredyKat! I am a masters peak ADC who plays all ADCs but mains and specializes in Jhin. Jhin has been my favorite ADC ever since he was released due to his theme, kit and overall unique design compared to all the other champions in the game. I also stream so if you're interested in that check out the Conclusion section below. Enjoy!
Champion Identity
Jhin is a lane bully/dominate laner and you'll want to play him as such. Although Jhin scales well, he is best when snowballing hard as traditional ADCs can outscale him due to the nature of his kit. Jhin works best in lanes with engage supports with a lot of kill pressure when the other team lacks tanky frontline. It is not recommended you pick Jhin into a team comp with multiple tanky members as he struggles to get through them unless he's incredibly ahead. Also never pick Jhin when you are an all AD comp as he cannot get through numberous armor stackers.
Skill Order
Always max R > Q > W > E. Pick up an early point in E at 4 and leave it until later just for wave clear and the niche scenarios where you can use the E/W combo to CC to peel and make picks in the mid game. I see some people not put any points into E until level 8 but its just a misplay because you get too much utility value out of E/W if used correctly.

Q - Best used for harassing in lane and dealing with minion wave state pushing and farming. Use this ability only when it is safe to after auto attacking to maximize damage.

W - The best ability Jhin has as it allows him to do damage and root targets from an absurd range. Usage of this ability makes or breaks good Jhin players.

E - an underrated ability that can be used to deal with clearing minion waves, protecting flanks, deals damage on kill resets and also can be set in unsuspecting spots with upcoming objectives to follow up with W for picks.

R - Another ability that determines Jhin players efficiency. This ability can be used to finish off low targets after a fight, deal damage when you've been pushed out of the fight, poke enemies out of lane and or start fights on out of position targets. Starting fights on out of position targets is by far the most underutilized way this ability is used as most Jhin players tunnel on the execute damage the bullets contain. Most of the time it is better to use this ability at a time the utility is useful, such as helping your team run down fleeing enemies, rather than just holding it to execute players similar to Cait ult.
Early Game
In the early game you'll want to play Jhin like any other marksman and prioritize farming and harassing the enemy ADC when they try to farm. Luckily Jhin's Q makes this mission easy as he can both wave clear and pressure the lane push and harass enemies close to dying minions with 1 ability. As stated, Jhin is a lane bully and needs to win lane to scale into the mid game or it will be hard for him to get priority in farming waves. In the lane phase look for opportunities to pick trades when you have 2 bullets left. This is so you can use the combo: AA -> Q -> 4th bullet crit to do short quick burst trades and then run away with your passive. Jhin has a ton of kill pressure into most lanes so always be looking to pressure enemies with this combo as well as harass with bouncing q's and proc W's off of these to lead to follow up CC by your support.
Mid Game
This is where Jhin excels as he is probably one of the strongest mid game ADCs in the game. Spend your time cleaning up lane farm when its safe to do so and then immediate group with your team after the wave has been pushed out. If all is going well due to a good early game then around this time (15-20 minutes in) you should have 2 core items or so, which is where Jhin spikes incredibly hard. When you get your core of IE/RFC or Stormrazor/RFC look for picks every time skirmishes break out by procing your W on unsuspecting targets or by running up with very long range autos with RFC for instant crits into your W root follow up. The benefit of Jhin compared to nearly all other ADCs is he has a very good CC on his W on a small CD. This ability alone is what makes Jhin good and if its not being utilized in the mid game theres hardly any reason to play the champion. This ability also makes a good Jhin useful even when he is behind. Focus on taking all outer turrets and playing for objectives when there is not farm to get.
Late Game
Late game you play like a traditional ADC and group with your team to output maximum damage to help your team win fights. The caveat that Jhin has going for him compared to most ADCs is that in the late game he can 1. make picks with his W that lead to immediate kills/wins 2. do absurd damage to squishy players in a single auto attack due to the raw amount of AD he has in the late game 3. doesnt have to fight front to back like most traditional ADCs. Point 3 is another one of the most determining factors in what makes Jhin players stand out. When Jhin has a full build and makes it to the late game he has the ability to alter teamfights based on his target selection when his RFC proc is up. Due to his insane move speed on critical strikes and long range he can swap targets to squishy targets and delete them instantly while using the move speed to keep him safe and get out. Being able to master this fine line is the highest skillcap Jhin has and will win games that traditional front to back fighting ADCs will lose. Always be on the lookout for when the enemy Mid/adc step up to fight into range of an instant Stormrazor crit turning fights instantly.
