31.03.2016: Change in the "maximal gold income" spoiler for

Hello there,
This will be my first guide for League of Legends. I started in season 5 with League and also started playing ranked games that season. Before dynamic queue I filled most of the time in the position what was not covered from my team mates. Obviously I played a lot of support. While often stuck in the support role, I started to experiment with some potential unusual support champions.
In this guide I want to show you how

It is not the usual full AD

How often have you played a tanky support and did not die during the team fights, but when
your team mates died you did not have any option to get away because you have no mobility?

Crucial for this build is the 45% CDR and the tank stats.
TL;DR:
You will not deal much damage to an enemy, but you will make up the lack of damage with your constant CC.

While still being able to finish of an escaping low life enemy with

or if a team mate is near, you can pin the escaping fool down for him.
Form my runes I take my standard
Thresh page, which provides good defense stats and some AD for early game damage.

Starting Items: 1x
Relic Shield, 3x
Health Potion, 1x
Stealth Ward
As a support you want to start with a gold generating item. For a mobile tank,
Relic Shield works best in the late game, and early you will give your ADC some sustain.
For maximal gold income
Next to your
Relic Shield you should purchase 3x
Health Potion and a
Stealth Ward.
First Back: targon's brace,
Boots,
Vision Ward,
Health Potion
targon's brace
Gold item vs Sightstone
Boots give you some nice movement speed which helps you to go back in lane faster, roaming and dodge skill shots like
Mystic Shot.
With the
Health Potion you will have more sustain, but only buy them if you really need them.
Vision Ward
Pink warding
First Items:
Sightstone, face of the mountain,
Iceborn Gauntlet,
Oracle Lens
Rushing
Sightstone next is very important to provide some vision for your team mates. You can ward the dragon pit, provide some deep vision and fast ward the bushes if you have a fight with your lane enemies and they try to hide in a bush on the lane. But don't forget to switch your trinket to
Oracle Lens.
Next item will be face of the mountain or
Iceborn Gauntlet. I prefer the
Iceborn Gauntlet for the nice slow it provides. with your low cool down abilities you are able to smack the passive: Spellblade with ease in-between your combo for some extra damage and a nice slow. Beside,
Iceborn Gauntlet has some nice attributes for you which will make you stronger with the 65 AD and able to spam your abilities more often with the 20% CDR.
When you have finished face of the mountain you have a very nice passive and another 10% CDR, some HP and HP regeneration.
face of the mountain passive
Boots:
Ninja Tabi,
Mercury's Treads
Choose based on the enemy team composition. AA reliant or AD heavy:
Ninja Tabi, CC or AP composition:
Mercury's Treads. Don't forget to upgrade with the
Enchantment: Captain so that your allies can catch up to you faster.
Other Items:
Locket of the Iron Solari vs
Banner of Command:
Both provide a very nice MR aura for your team mates. If your team pushes well, go for
Locket of the Iron Solari for the nice passive. In a team fight you can catch all 4 allies with it which is a really nice buff. But if your team lucks pushing potential, I always go for
Banner of Command. You can use it to push top lane while skirmishing around the Dragon spawn, same works in late game for Baron when you let the bot lane push. Additionally it will give you a good amount of gold if you use it correct. Sometimes in longer games I get up to 1000 gold back from my super minion.
Zz'Rot Portal
Very good to push turrets, lanes or defend your own turret. You will have a nice movement speed bonus around turrets, it also gives you some gold back and, if not destroyed, lasts for an eternity. Similar use as
Banner of Command. If your team gets the Baron buff, you can easily push a lane by yourself with
Zz'Rot Portal and
Banner of Command combined.
Frozen Heart
Very useful against an AA based team with champions like
Master Yi,
Jax or
Kog'Maw.
Mikael's Blessing
Good against champions like
Malzahar,
Morgana or
Lux.
Frozen Mallet
With that item, you can slow escaping enemies for your ADC or slow engaging enemies for your ADC to escape.

The next ability we will max is our W

Why are we maxing E

First of all. Many Junglers start at the camp in the bottom lane. With your first point in E

In lane you can use

Also you can use your shield for the ADC if you stay in front of him as a meat shield.
You are a support. You don't go for kills. Remember.
Flash: Escaping some tricky situations. Or gap closer to demobilize an enemy for you teammates to catch up.
Exhaust: Slow, damage reduction and AD/AP resist reduction. Put it on the strongest enemy.
Ignite: If the enemy team has a
Soraka,

Now we come to the play style.
Witch your 45% CDR your abilities are all on very low cooldowns. So if a fight starts, you activate you ultimate
Blade of the Exile first. With your ultimate your other spells have a wider range and AOE. Then you use
Broken Wings to get in range, already knocking them up. Right after that spam your
Ki Burst to stun as many enemies as possible. Finally
Valor out to safety. Your teammates should have been able to deal a lot of damage while the enemies were knocked up or stunned. When you throw in some AA in-between your combo, you can get maybe 3
Iceborn Gauntlet passives off when you don't do you combo too quickly.
In safety you will see that you spell are already off codlin to use again!
45% CDR:
Broken Wings ~ 7 seconds CD
Ki Burst ~ 4 seconds CD
Valor ~ 3 seconds CD
So you are good to go in again.
Thanks to your AOE spells, your allies deal +3% DMG through your
Expose Weakness
.
After you rotated through your abilities some rounds, the enemy team is getting low health points. At that moment, you can use your ability
Wind Slash to execute the fools. Best use it when most of the enemies are below 25% health for maximal damage. Even though you are not building a lot of AD,
Wind Slash will deal a lot of damage.
After you cleaned up the fight, you can easily push one or two turrets with you
Zz'Rot Portal and
Banner of Command.
The enemies will hate you and your allies will love you. After you won the game, collect the honors you get for trying something unusual and pulling it off that good.
