Intro

Hi. I'm EvilLurker. I recently played a lot of Sion support since I really love the champion, and I love to try out different support roles (See my Karthus support build).

I recently stumbled across a really comprehensive video guide about top win rate Sion support, and fell in love with it.

Soon enough, after trying it out, I hit 80% win rate.

Always remember: Sion is a LATE GAME monster. Never give up if the enemy team is ahead.
I won against teams who were insanely ahead.

Check out the video for an in depth guide for Sion support:

Runes

For runes, I either take standard AD marks, Armor seals, MR glyphs and AD quints but its situational. For hard poke lanes like Zyra/Cait etc, I go for Health regeneration quints for more survival.

Masteries

Masteries are pretty much self explanatory. Extra gold per 5 and full defensive.

Items

Start with 3 health pots and relic shield. Rush Sighstone and Targon, depending on how ahead you are. I usually rush boots of swiftness or lucidity, and then rush Redemption + Locket for full support itemization. If I'm really behind I just go full tank, with Sunfire Cape and the rest of the support items.

Skill Sequence

E -> Q -> W -> R is the most common and useful, but I'd go for Q for the first 3 levels if they have 0 tanks.

Spells

Sion is a good support because of his armor reduction/slow/poke from his E, his heavy CC from Q and his inherit tank stats from his shields and abilities. W gives you free HP which helps out Face of the Mountain scaling, and E applies armor reduction for faster kills and pokes. If you can land your Q's, it's going to hurt like a *****!

Pros / Cons

+ Great poke with E
+ Good survival in lane when played right
+ Can initiate teamfights like a boss
+ Can protect the ADC quite well with his CC
+ Tanky with his HP scaling
+ Monster late game
+ Can make insane comebacks

- Susceptible for heavy pokes on bot lane, relies on his ADC in such situations to trade back
- Considerably weak when enemy team is ahead
- Must play with patience
- Must know when to engage
- Takes a few games to realize how to play
