Armour penetration to rek your enemies and deal TONS OF DAMAGE!
An awesome damage item for Riven wich helps you with sustain, harass and last hitting, you could also go with a , which would give you some AoE with your AA's, and it could help you with animation canceling.
the last whisperer A must have item for Riven, it gives you a good deal of AD, and 35% armor penetration, witch is something riven needs, because all of her damage is physical.
A good defensive item for Riven which gives you some MR, a good deal of health, and an awesome passive that really helps your sustain, but you could also go with a Ravenous Hydra instead of this item if you think you don't need the defence.
A very good defensive item for Riven, it gives you a nice amount of MR and armor, and a very good passive, especially if you are being focused in team fights.
ruinic blade Riven's abilities charge her blade, causing her to do a BONUS 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 % of her total attack damage on her next autoattack. One of the best passives in League of Legends.
Riven STEPS forward and lashes out in a series of powerful sword slashes that will damage all enemies nearby for 10 / 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 (+40/45/50/55/60% total attack damage) physical damage. This ability can be activated a second time within 4 seconds, and a third time within 4 seconds of that. On the third activation she will also knock up nearby enemies and have a larger radius of damage. All three strikes will deal the same amount of damage. Her bread and butter skill, deals alot of damage and synergises well with her passive.
Riven deals 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 (+1.0 per BONUS attack damage) physical damage and stuns nearby enemies for 0.75 seconds. A very good ability that has an AoE stun, and deals quite a bit of damage.
Riven dashes towards the cursor and gains a 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 / 210 (+1.0 per BONUS attack damage) shield for up to 1.5 seconds. An awesome ability that can shield a TON of damage.
Riven's sword reforms, gaining 20% bonus attack damage, extended range on her damaging abilities and autoattacks for 15 seconds. She is also granted the ability to use Wind Slash once for the duration.
Riven can activate the ability to emit a shockwave in a long cone in front of her that deals a minimum of 80 / 120 / 160 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage) and a maximum of 240 / 360 / 480 (+1.8 per bonus attack damage) physical damage to all units hit based on their missing health. An amazing ultimate that gives her a good boost of AD an is good for finishing off enemies.

Runes
Gives you a good amount of AD, you shouldn't go for [greater mark of armour penetration] because you will end up dealing more damage if you go for the [greater mark of attack damage] runes.
greater seal of armour Gives you a good amount of armor to take less damage and make better trades
The runes give you a 7% cooldown reduction, which is needed for riven to spam your abilities, you could take [greater glyph of magic resist] if you want some extra defence.
gives you a bigger boost of AD, which helps you alot early game and gives a good lane presence.
The thing that sets a good Riven from a bad Riven is weather or not they use their passive correctly. A bad Riven would just go against their enemy and use all of their abilities without putting any AA's in between them, but a good Riven would try to always get an AA in between all of your abilities, because of your passive.
Riven can also hop over walls with her third Broken Wings, it is difficult at first, but with practice it will be as easy as pie. To hop over the wall, you need to use your first 2 Broken Wings then go close to a wall and put your cursor over the wall and activate the third Broken Wings. I found it easier when i was first trying Riven wall hopping if i went not so close too the wall and used Valor + third Broken Wings
Your early game is the most important part of Riven. She is one of the biggest snowball champs in the game, and her level 1 - 3 power is unrivaled. If you can master the her early game you will be in good hands to carry the rest of your team, and deny the enemy toplaner completely.
What you do at level 1 and what items you start is dependent on one thing:
Which enemy champion you will be laning against
If you are against a champion that you will be able to snowball against, you will always be looking to go for first blood, they should be preferably squishy and mele. You do not want to try and get first blood if you are against your counters (Garen, Renekton, Olaf, Darius) but if you are not against them, go ahead and try for first blood. To get first blood, what you want to do is as soon as you reach lvl 3, Flash at them, land your Ignite, AA first Broken Wings AA second Broken Wings AA third Broken Wings AA Valor AA Ki Burst AA, and they should be dead.
What Riven should do mid game, is continuing to try and kill your enemy, and farm. You can also roam and give a some ganks if you are doing well and other lanes need help.
It's late game, time for the team fights. What riven should do in the late game is just stay at the back of your team and wait for your tank to initiate, then prepare your Blade of the Exile, then BOOM, use your Flash in the direction of their ADC and your Valor, AA Ki Burst AA Broken Wings AA Broken Wings AA [[broken wings] AA and move on to your next target, unless your team has already dealt with them.
