Intro
He is and will always be a game-breaker. He is purley amazing, just gotta love him.
And I felt that I needed to make a Amumu build, just to see if I really know enough about this lovely mummy!
And I am trying to keep it as simple as possible!

Amumu - The Sad Mummy
First of, this champion is a tier 1 pick, for this to change Riot has to make some real &%"# happened to the game. He is a great jungler, he is quick and efficient. He can jump in on any lane and gank at level 3 (similar to champions like Udyr etc). All it requires is that you hit with your bandage toss.
Amumu is an incredible strong tank if he gets a few early kills/assists and he can practically carry a game through early/mid game. He is very item dependent, and his therefore his participation in fights is very important, get ganking!
Amumu is a very strong jungler because of his area damage. He clears out the jungle in a speed that can compete with most of the best junglers. He is often also at decent HP when he is finished with the route and is ready for a gank asap.
The best route for Amumu to go is beginning at Blue -> Wolves -> Wraiths -> Red -> Double Golems
Amumu should get red befor double golems IF he has the health to do so. If you have the right runes, have used your health pots as you are supposed to, you will be somewhere between 50%-80% which allows you very capable to do red (Which increases its damage as time passes) or to go gank.

It is not very much to say on how to gank as Amumu.
What I can recommend though, is to either Bandage Toss in to the champion you are ganking, or run into the lane showing yourself, wait for the reaction/flash and then toss it. If you wait, it is often much easier to hit with Bandage Toss, or force a flash.

Greater Mark of Insight for red once to deal close to true damage to most minions.
Greater Seal of Resilience for a good early game and little damage taken from creeps.
Greater Glyph of Focus for reduced cool down on the ultimate later on.
Greater Quintessence of Fortitude for increased early game and better survivability early on.
I feel that 0/21/9 is the spec that gives him the most as a champion. As I used to use 0/20/10 I realized that I was taking to much damage, and therefor I tried to change. It was amazing, it means quite a lot when it comes to the damage that both champions and minions does to him.
You try and fail, this time I made it right!

What items you should get is very dependent on what setup you face, the items listed on this one it for a varied setup with a bit more AD that AP.
I find it that Amumu does not stack HP/level as much as I would like him to, and therefor I find it that buying HP items early on is the best way (maybe not, but it has helped me a lot lately pr. 07/08-11). Getting an early Heart of Gold along with Merc'sgives me the early health + MR that would be preferred.
FOR BALANCED TEAMS:
Follow the items listed above.
FOR AD HEAVY TEAMS:
Rush Sunfire Cape followed by Thornmail, before going for more HP: Warmog's Armor or Randuin's Omen which grant's some team bonus by the use effect.
FOR AP HEAVY TEAMS:
Rush Force of Nature and Banshee's Veil/ Aegis of the Legion before you go for you go for Warmog's Armor
If your team is dominating, you are getting a bit fed or you are tanky enough already these are some of the items you might consider:
Rylai's Crystal Scepter, it grants you HP and AP which increase how tanky you are, and you deal way more damage.
Abyssal Scepter, grants you AP, MR and you reduce enemy MR with an additional 20 to add with your passive.

Passive =
Cursed Touch - Auto attacks reduce enemy Magic Resistance with 15/25/35.
Q = Bandage Toss - Allows you to grip an enemy and stun at hit and pulls you to the target, a great gank/initiate ability
W = Despair - Amumu starts crying, dealing damage in % of max HP.
E = Tantrum - Amumu scratches enemies around him dealing damage and reducing physical damage taken. Each hit that lands on Amumu reduce the cool down with .5 sec. (The reason why Amumu is not to have dodge)
R = Curse of the Sad Mummy - A game breaking ability, Amumu entangling all enemies within 600 range.
Start W-E-E-Q, then max E first, then W, and finish with Q.
If you have good opportunities to gank at level 3, then go for it and go W-E-Q. Max in the same sequence.

SMITE
FLASH
Must for every jungler is Smite, and Amumu is very dependent on this spell.
Flash Size 32Flash is very practical in many situations, flash in for gank, escape or to get a hold of a runner.
What you can use:
What ever else you want, but I would clearly recommend having those two on Amumu, Ghost won't really help as much as Flash, and is therefor not as good of a pick as Flash.
