Pros / Cons
Easy Harrassment in Lane from Level 1
- Ahri's Q at max range does more damage when it hits than when it passes through a target and goes out farther then turns around and comes back. If you use this to pick off the caster minions of each wave, it leaves the laner no chance to farm or get experience. This is also an effective tactic to use if they come up to last hit. At level 2, landing a charm into her Q gives even more harrass as her Charm amplifies all her spells, especially her Q. By Level 3 and Void Staff, Ahri can kill, making her a terror of mid lane.
Lots of inherent sustain
- Ahri's Passive allows her to remain in lane longer and farm more than most other mid lane champions out there. At 9 stacks of her passive, she heals. Use this on minion waves as they walk in a line as it grants the most heal possible.
Cons:
Charm Dependent
- Ahri is heavily dependent on her charm to make landing her combo easier and more deadly. Don't throw you charm out early on if you're not at least 80% sure you can land it successfully. Missing it puts it on a long cooldown early on and can put you at a disadvantage if your opponent comes at you, as it is a major deterrent to many of the low elo aggressive players.
Mana-Hungry
- Ahri's spells use a lot of mana early and she doesn't have a lot of built-in Mana Regeneration (as shown in this build as well). As her spells are on a very short cooldown (especially her Q and W), don't be so hasty to go all out too early or you could be left with cooldowns and no mana. Be very conservative with your mana early and don't just throw spells out if they won't hit champs. Don't take this as only use basic attacks to last hit. Use Ahri's Spells to farm as well and be sure to have a heal on-hand (courtesy of the passive proc), just in case you get ganked early or are playing against an aggressive poking laner.
Ahri's Q, Orb of Deception, is essential to clearing waves quickly and getting the most out of her Essence Theft Lifesteal passive. As this spell is amplified by Charm and crucial to gaining early lane dominance, I learn this at Level 1 and max it first by Level 10.
Ahri's W, Fox-Fires, is mainly a counter-harrass spell that prioritizes champs, use it to deter champions from getting near you to harrass you. Since it mainly is used for counter-harrass and extra damage on charmed targets, I learn this spell by Level 3 but max it by Level 18
Ahri's E, Charm, is mainly a utility spell who's stun duration lengthens as you rank it up. As it is an important Utility Spell, I learn it by Level 2 but max it second by Level 14.
Ahri's Ultimate, Spirit Rush, has a variety of uses. It can be used to escape, close distances, and dive past minion waves to line up a charm and the rest of her combo for a well-deserved kill.
A few combos you need to master to master the Foxy Lady are as follows:
-- Land her Charm (E) and follow up with a quick Orb of Deception (Q) for quick harrass.
-- Land her Charm (E) and follow up with Orb of Deception (Q) and Foxfires (W). If you have ignite and want to go for an all-in, Drop Ignite as her Charm is about to wear off, and follow up with a few basic attacks. If played right, this will kill by level 3.
(A follow up to the prior mentioned combo is to add her ultimate in. Described as follows, this play can kill if executed properly.)
-- Use the 1st of Ahri's 3-Charge Ultimate (R) to dive through the caster minions to line up a Charm (E). After charming the enemy, Use your Orb of Deception (Q) and Foxfires (W), Ignite and then use the 2nd and 3rd charges to clean up a kill on your opponent before escaping back to the safety of turret after completing your combo.
