Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
They say that death isn't funny. It isn't, unless you're Shaco. He is Valoran's first fully-functioning homicidal comic; he jests until someone dies, and then he laughs. The figure that has come to be known as the Demon Jester is an enigma. No one still alive knows from whence he came. There are rumors, but one must not speak of them too loudly lest Shaco come to jest. It seems unimaginable that such a threatening figure would be allowed to remain at large. There are those that believe he is an assassin for hire, left to roam until he is needed. Others believe that Shaco is simply too clever, evading authorities at every turn. Still others believe that he is the demonic manifestation of humanity's dark urges, and therefore cannot be stopped.
''Whatever you do, don't tell him you missed the punch line.''

Hey, I play Shaco since a month on ap after seeing some good ones and taking some strategies of them. I would'nt say that im a excellent player, but I almost always have very good stats with AP Shaco and i win 90 % of my AP Shaco games. I don't care if u think that AP Shaco is useless cause I know he's not. Just don't read the Build if u think it. It's very funny to play AP Shaco and I hope u will have the same fun with him that I have everytime. Please don't be to hard to my English because im from Germany and only learned it in school.
Pro's and Con's
-Extremely high damage
-Good escape helper
-Funny to play
-You often get flamed from enemies after killing them
-Bad vs tanks, and magic resisters
-Difficult to play
-You have to know where to place ur JitB
-You often get flamed at the start of the game from ur team
I work with MRP as marks, flat AP as seals, AP per lvl as glyphs and flat AP as quintessences. Also possible to take are Manaregeneration per LVL as glyphs, flat AP as marks, flat AP as glyphs or Armor as seals.
I go for 9 in the Offence Tree for better dmg and cdr. Therefore I take 21 in the Utility Tree
- Shaco stealths himself instantly and teleports to target location. His next attack is guaranteed to critically strike.
Shaco instantly stealths for 3.5 seconds, and teleports to target nearby location. If he attacks while stealthed, the attack is guaranteed to crit for 40/60/80/100/120% bonus physical damage.
This Skill is your main escaping skill, if you use it to get away from enemies try to jump over walls or jump in the direction the enemy is coming to you. Just try not to do the expected. After getting Lich Bane it's also a good dmg skill.
- Shaco creates an animated Jack-in-the-Box at target location, which will wait, stealthed, to Fear nearby units and attack them when some come nearby.
Shaco creates a Jack in the Box at the target location. It will Stealth after 2 seconds, and pop out when an enemy comes near, fearing nearby enemies for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds and attacking them.
Its attacks deal 35/55/75/95/115 (+0.25) magic damage and it lasts for 90 seconds while stealthed or 5 seconds while firing.
These little evil puppets are your main dmgsource. Try to put them in bushes when next to enemies or in often crossed routes. It's also very usefull to help teammates to escape. Just put it in the way of your enemies to fear them. Try to put it behind the golem or in the bushes of the golem if you wanna kill him in early game.
- Shaco's Shivs passively poison targets on hit, slowing them and applying a miss chance to minions. He can throw his Shivs to deal damage and poison the target.
Passive: Shaco's attacks poison his target, reducing their movement speed. If the target is a minion, it reduces their chance to hit by 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% for 2 seconds.
Active: Deals 40/80/120/160/200 (1+) magic damage to target enemy, and poisons them for 3 seconds. Upon activating this ability the passive is removed until Two-Shiv Poison becomes available again.
This Skill is ur 2nd dmg skill, its good to get kills, good to deal dmg in lategame, good to slow, and in combination with deceive awesome for kiting just hit shiv and then deceive then shiv again, if ur real fed u gonna to hit ur enemies ( As long as they are squishy).
-Shaco creates an illusion of himself nearby, which deals 75% of Shaco's damage and receives 150% increased damage. (Deals half damage to turrets.) On death, the illusion deals 300 / 450 / 600 (+100% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.
Lasts up to 30 seconds.
This Skill is the most underestimated Skill of Shaco. It's hard to use right. But if you are able to do it, then you will get awesome results. If Karthus or Caitlyn hits her ult, you can dodge it when pressing your ult in the moment before it hits you. Therefore it give's u a bit of extra dmg in early game. And the last thing, after the last patch, Shaco's ult got buffed so the puppet looks like the real shaco, even the items are right. Also the AP-Ratio is awesome, when u have 600 AP, it deals 1200 magic dmg.
I start with Dorans Ring for mr, life and ap. The perfect Start item for AP Shaco because u can spam puppets like mad and wont get out of mana, u just loose mana when u also use your Shiv and Deceive. If I go back with more than 1.200 gold I take Mejai's Soulstealer and if possible Boots of Speed. If I have less money I take Boots of Speed and Meki Pendant. Afterwards I upgrade my Boots of Speed to Sorcerer's Shoes and get Morello's Evil Tome. I take Morello's Evil Tome instead of Deathfire Grasp (which is also possible), because it gives me more ap, more cdr and im not used to activate Deathfire Grasp and so its pretty useless for me. Now I get Rabadons Deathcap, afterwards Rylai's Crystal Cepter and then Lich Bane. The reason why i take Lich Bane that late is that I need all the other items early cause they provide me the health, cdr and dmg. If I'm really good and feel like not needing hp I take Lich Bane before Lich Bane. When playing vs Karthus I take Zhonya's Hourglass instead of Rylai's Crystal Cepter or Lich Bane. If I need mrp i get Void Staff instead of Lich Bane or Rylai's Crystal Cepter. Instead of Sorceres Shoes it's also possible to get Boots of Mobility or Boots of Swiftness.
I have 2 different ways for my early game, the first one I use when the enemy team got no jungler. The second one is when the enemy got a jungler who starts at blue buff.
1. If your team and the enemy team got no jungler you go to your Blue Buff (if your team got a jungler u can also do the enemy golem, this will loose you more hp) and do this , afterwards you should be LvL 2. Then u go on ur lane and take puppets in the bushes and try to lure the enemy in. It needs some practise to do it but after some games it should be easy for you. Try to get some char who can hold a solo lane as lane partner because you won't be at your lane always.
If the enemy team got a jungler you dont do the golem. Go to the bushes next to the wraiths and place all puppets you can get there, after 3:40-4:20 the enemy jungler will come and u will be able to kill him. Afterwards you'll have a blue buff go on your lane and do the same things that are also mentioned above.
In the Mid Game your Job is to get fed. For you it starts when you got Mejas and boots. Try to gank between your lane, the enemy jungle and the mid lane. Try to help ur teammates escaping from enemies with placing JitB to fear the enemies.
In the Late Game your Job is to place JitB at strategic points for saving your team doing Nashor for example, trying to trap enemies, kite enemies with Shiv and Deceive, help your teammates escaping and lasthit enemies who are escaping.
Good/Bad Lane Partners
I hope my Build helped you playing AP Shaco. Have fun with it. If anything needs to be corrected write it in the comment section. I would appreciate any feedback.
