In lane (Early game)
Lane like a *****. Stay far behind your minions. Use ever ounce of range you have to cs. Once you reach level 2 begin to zone and poke your opponent. Miss cs if you must to avoid taking damage. If you are up against a good early game opponent such as Leblanc or Zed, farm safely over effectively. If you see top or bot pushed up, call your play in chat or ping it. You should come up from the bush farthest behind your enemy, then send in the soldiers.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS KEEP ONE SOLDIER IN YOUR BACK POCKET UNLESS YOU GO ALL IN. The reason for this is that if the jungler comes, and you have no soldier, you are either burning flash or dying.
Mid game - Late game
By this point you should be assisting the jungler in taking objectives and ganking. Abuse your damage potential. Remember your ult can be used as both a defense and an initiate. Remember to roam and help push the lanes.
Azir is best known for his amazing zoning in lane and in fights. You can use your soldiers to stop enemies from csing or even manipulating enemy team movements. If you see an enemy going in for a minion, place a soldier to block his path.
When it comes to sieging with azir, you can use your soldiers to zone enemies away from a tower. Also, if you place a soldier above a tower, it will deal magic damage, which can be key when shredding turrets.
When a fight breaks out position yourself behind your front line. Stay far back. If you see that the enemy team has their carries out of position, use your W-Q combo to send a soldier right into the carries. With your insane DPS, it's also possible to shred enemy tanks, do this if you can't reach carries. It's okay to die in a fight, but not until after you delivered the most possible damage to the enemy team and hopefully completed the mission of destroying the other team. If you happen to get jumped by an enemy assassin use your ult to just shove them aside.
