Introduction

Welcome to my Top Lane Rengar Guide.
First thing I want to say that, my English is not very good, so it will be hard to understand in some parts of my guide. Also this is my first guide, so hope you understand.
About this guide, it's a new way to play Rengar. It's all about using the new season 3 item Sword of the Divine and Rengar's skills to take down the enemy team's carry as fast as possible.I have found out that this item makes a perfect combo with Rengar's Savagery. A combo of Sword of the Divine, Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge and Savagery, will take you only 2(maybe 1) seconds to take down the enemy team's carry.
Iterested? Now let's get to the details!

Skill Explanations

Unseen Predator
While in brush or stealthed, Rengar gains bonus attack range and his attacks cause him to leap at his target. This bonus lasts for ~0.5 second upon exiting brush or stealth. This will happen regardless of whether or not his target has sight of him, and has no internal cooldown.
Additionally, Rengar builds 1 point of Ferocity with each ability he uses on enemies. When reaching 5 points of Ferocity, Rengar's next ability becomes empowered, granting it a bonus effect.

This passive allows Rengar to build Ferocity, the replacement of mana. Ferocity is very impotant. It not only makes Rengar's skills stronger, but also allows you to use a same skill twice. Remember that, if you are going for a combat, make sure your Q, Savagery, is not on cooldown, and your Ferocity bar is about 4 or 5 points. I suggest leaving 4 points only, because when your Ferocicty bar is full, it will turn Yellow, can be easily noted by enemies, and make them run away from you. Use normal Q to reach 5 points of Ferocity and Q again, that makes a better strategy.

About the leaping part, there something new users should know:
+Don't focus on using this skill to harass opponent in the early game. Try to farm, and avoid gank. This skill is used for ganking and chasing, not for harassing, leave the harassing part for Bola Strike.
+When chasing low HP targets, note for the one running into bushes.
+Enemies can avoid bushes, making you hard to gank, so don't depend too much on this skill while ganking, use your Ultimate instead.

Savagery
Rengar's next basic attack deals bonus damage and grants him increased attack speed for 4 seconds.
Empowered: Savagery deals additional damage equal to 100% of Rengar's attack damage, and the Attack Speed bonus is doubled.

This is Rengar's main skill. Save your Ferocity for this skill. Empowered Savagery deals a crazy amount of damage. Use normal Savagery to farm, harass and build Ferocity, but remember to save Empowered Savagery for combat. Since this is the main source of damage, max it first.
Remember one thing: you gain attack speed after using Q, so it's very good in a 1vs1 combat.

Battle Roar
Rengar lets out a battle roar, damaging enemies and gaining bonus armor and magic resist for 3 seconds.
Empowered:Battle Roar also heals Rengar for 40 + (20 × level).

This skill brings the survivability for Rengar. The damage it lets out is magic, and not very high, so if you play offensive way, max it last. In general, you can chose between maxing this skill and Bola Strike after Savagery, depending on your match-up and your playing style.
Note: to build Ferocity, your skill must hit enemy, and since Battle Roar is an AOE skill, try to hit the minions without being harasshed by the enemy champion or miss.

Bola Strike
Rengar throws a bola at his target, dealing physical damage and slowing it for 2.5 seconds. The slow decays over the duration.
Empowered:Bola Strike initially roots his target for 1 second. The slow is applied in full after the 1 second, and decays over the remaining 1.5 seconds.

Offensive, Defensive and Utility. Never underestimate a rude weapon like this. You can you this skill in many way: harrashing; farming; ganking. The damage is also physical, with AD scailing is 70%, very high for a CC skill. Since the damage and slow increase per level, I max it after Savagery. As I said before, you can max this skill last if you want to play tanky, but if you're scared of ranged enemy, and they don't let you farm, Bola Strike is your resolution!

Ferocity bonus: In some situation, you have full ferocity, and your enemy is on low hp, I suggest using this skill instead of Savagery. Why? You may have damage, but your enemy may has a way to escape from you like Ezreal's Arcane Shift or Corki's Valkyrie, so 1 second rooting and 1.5 seconds slowing will surely help you get the kill, instead of having a powerful blade, but the only thing you can do is eat their dust. So, make a smart choice!

Thrill of the Hunt
Rengar activates his predatory instincts, stealthing himself after 1 second (delayed up to 3 seconds if taking damage) and revealing all enemy Champions in a large radius around him. He gains movement speed and generates 1 Ferocity per 0.75s while stealthed. Lasts 7 seconds or until he uses an ability.

How I love this skill. With this, Rengar become the ultimate assassin. From lv6, this has became your most important skill. With Thrill of the Hunt ready, you can give the enemy team's carry a hurt attack!
How to use: use it to ambush, escape and check the enemy team.
Ambushing: Take you only 1 second to become invisible, give you bonus movement speed and Ferocity per 0.75 second. This ultimate give you every thing you need to take down your prey, so this is the best way to use Thrill of the Hunt.
Escaping: Since Rengar has no skill to escape, this is your only hope, but wasting a good ultimate like this just to run is kinda... dumb! But if you want to save you trophies ( bonetooth necklace), don't be afraid to use this skill to save you life. Try to run into a bush to avoid incoming attack and spell, then quickly turns invisible with only 1 second delay. Avoid using this skill to escape with 3 seconds delay, I guarantee 50% of the time you will just die and waste your ultimate, so please considering using it well!
Checking:Though it's a good way to use this skill, It's only strong when you have lv14 bonetooth necklace. With that, you can stay invisible for 10 seconds, which mean you can spend 5 seconds, running around, checking the enemy team, and 5 seconds left to track down the carry. This is a difficult way for newbies, remember that.

Summoner Spells

These two are my fovorite for Rengar.
Ignite ensure the kill, while Ghost have you catch up your prey, and work well with ultimate
Other choices
: Never a bad choice for any champion. You can replace Ghost with this to escape after the assassination.
: For beginners, but I don't find this is a good way to play Rengar.
Bad choices
: Though it's a good spell, you already had Bola Strike, and with this build, it takes you only 2 seconds to take down the carry.
: Good early, extremely bad late game. Also, your Battle Roar makes a better first-aid kit.
: You're manaless, you don't need this.
: Why the heck is Smite in the bad list? Because we will not play Rengar as a jungler in this build, sorry for all the jungle rengar fan.
: I don't plan on dying.
: What are you doing here?!?

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush
x9: Attack damage is important.
x9: Help Rengar stand longer before AD champions.
x9: Rengar is lack of magic resist.
x3: More attack damage
Overall: this runes page help you farm alot better, increase damage output early game.
Other choices
Greater Mark of armor penetrationx9: This could be a little hard early game, but late game damage is insane!
x3: A little bit faster to "catch their trail!"

Masteries

My masteries are 21-9-0, focus on maximum your damage output, as well as giving Rengar more muscles.Important Masteries
Summoner's Wrath : 5 bonus attack damage while Ignite is on cooldown, a little help to your farming, and 8% bonus movement speed to Ghost (35% bonus instead of 27%).
Weapon Expertise Sunder : armor penetration is never redundant for Rengar.
Lethality : critical damage is important in this build, since you will buy Sword of the Divine in any build.
Frenzy : important too, because you may need some more speed to finish your target if 3 times Sword of the Divine are not enough.
Executioner : low HP champions become your main target, or the third strike from Sword of the Divine, which deal the least damage, will have enough power to execute the carry.
Durability Veteran's Scars : you're very squishy, this will have you survive Ignite and poison.
Resistance : I choose this instead of Hardiness because Rengar's base magic resist is lower than base armor.

Items

This is the second important part, so please read carefully.

Starting Items
x3
Good starting items. Giving you mobility and durability.

Not a bad choice, but lack of mobility. Pick this if you choose greater mark of armor penetration.
x5
Extremely durable, use to against high AD champion such as Renekton, Garen, Jayce.

Core Items
Your first core. Take this before upgrading your boots. Help you farm and dealing as much damage as possible. Since Savagery increases next attack damage, it will help you take back a large amount of HP. With combo Savagery and Bloodthirster, you can stand much longer in a fight than you think. In a 1vs1 combat, thing item is the key to victory.

bonetooth necklace Rengar's signature item. Take this after Bloodthirster, or after B. F. Sword if you have problem farming. Your purpose purchasing this item is to upgrade Unseen Predator and Thrill of the Hunt, in addition, bonus AD and armor penetration are not bad. All the effects this item bring to you are all good, but focus on the ultimate. 10 seconds invisisble, that is insane! Building stack for this item is very hard, but remember, assists will also give you stacks, so make sure to throw a Bola Strike at the focused target to ensure the assists for early gank.

Time to upgrade your boots. Ionian Boots of Lucidity is the best choice. Since you're a manaless champion, cooldown reduction is very important. But, I think the main reason to get this item, is to lower the cooldown of Thrill of the Hunt. So if you don't think it's a good idea, take Mercury's Treads instead.

Here. Your final part to the "Beast of Divine". This is an amazing item. I can't believe it works perfectly with Rengar. All the detals will betold in the "Strategy" chapter. Just get this after Bloodthirster and bonetooth necklace.

Good Items
More damage. You will only need 25% crit chance, because Savagery gives you x2 attack speed when empowered. Moreover, 3 sure-crit attacks form Sword of the Divine will make a perfect combination with this item.

Cheap but useful. More damage, as well as the armor penetration. This item will break the limit of damage, dealing "tons of damge" each attacks.

This item fix the lack of sustain for Rengar. Get Giant's Belt first instead of Phage, and leave it there until you finish all the cores.

Replacement for Ionian Boots of Lucidity. Since it requires alot of money, you need to farm well. But if you can afford it, don't be afraid to take this amazing item.

Remember after you killed the carry, all of his teamates will focus on killing you, so take this to save yourself, run away, wait for your team to show up and comeback.

Good for chasing and roaming. Don't pick Ghost if you are going to buy this.

More damage, protecting you from AP champions. A good item for 1vs1 combat, since it gives you bonus AD when you're on low health.

In conclusion:

Strategy (Important)

The final part of the guide. Now I will show you how to play Rengar like a divine! What we need is all the cores: Bloodthirster, bonetooth necklace and Sword of the Divine. Some of you may do not know this new item of Season 3. Sword of the Divine passively increases your attack speed by 45%, but will lose the effect if its "Active" is on cooldown. Active ability will gain you 100% and 100% critical chance in the next 3 seconds or 3 attacks, every kill and assist reduces the cooldown by half of the current cooldwon time. Cool right? Now is how the combe works:
+First, activate your Ghost the n your ultimate Thrill of the Hunt (you may not need to use Ghost if it's on cooldown or you want to save it for later chase).
+After that, try to find your target (mainly is AD carry), wait for until the Ferocity bar is full.
+Then, leap into the target, quickly activate Sword of the Divine, then Savagery. The first hit : Empowered Savagery with critical. Quickly press Q again to activate the second Savagery to ensure another crit. The second hit : Savagery with critical. And the last hit with Sword of the Divine will be a normal attack.
So, have you imagined how powerful this combo is? Here the sequence:
=> => (Normal attack)=> => => => (Normal attack)

Practicing is all you need to master this playing style. And focus too!
Here are the explanations about good items for this build
Increases your critical damage, 2 improved critical Savagery are much more insane than any skill you've met!

You don't slash on the enemy's armor, you slash through their body! Armor penetration is a nightmare with enemy team's carries!

Pros and Cons
These are Pros and Cons of this strategy
Pros
+Take you only 2 seconds to take down the enemy team's carry.
+Insane damage output
+Really fun to play
Cons
-Extremely squishy!
-Need a good start and alot of farm, kills.
-For professional Rengar player only.
-Weak late game (actually when all champs are like 18)
-Need to win fast, or the enemy team may spot your strategy, and counter you with Guardian Angel and Oracle's Elixir.

Teamates
Here are some good teamates I want on my team if I play Rengar this way:
Simply, his ultimate, Hemoplague will make it easier to your job. Find a good Vladimir player, and use your combo after he uses his ultimate.
Stand United work well with Thrill of the Hunt, if ya know wat I min! Call your friendly Shen to ulti you after you turned invisible, gap close to your target and let Shen taunt him with Shadow Dash, then the rest is your job!
Another 1.5 seconds of disable. Use your combo before his ultimate, and jump out right when he uses it!
Like Shen, his taunt is good for your combo.
Okama Taric knows how to stun!

and the list goes on:

(well, his ultimate and stun!)

Hardcore Enemies
Here are some enemies that may not be easy to kill, or one will interupt your combo.
His ultimate will totally waste all of your combos!
Kill them, they comes back, kill you, kill your team, and die. Just make sure the AD carry is separated from Yorick.
You sure know why, Undying Rage!
