Spell vamp is a magic stat. The spell vamp works as a counterpart of life steal, but instead of regenerating health based on autoattacks, the regeneration of health is based on damage done by champion abilities. It works off of activated item effects, summoner spells, and abilities, regardless of the type of damage done.
Life steal is an offensive stat that converts a percentage of the physical damage dealt by a champion's auto attack (and the small number of abilites that proc on-hit effects as noted below) to health regained.

Since Acid Hunter does apply on hit effects, besides those of his passive and shield slow, it does not work with life steal, but does work with spell vamp as an ability. I agree pure AD carries should not get defensive items(other than Wit's End or Atma's Impaler in certain situations), but Urgot should not be built as a pure AD Carry, but more as an AD Caster. Built as only AD his usefulness falls off late game since he can be easily CC'd and focused. Even in tournaments when he is played in an AD Carry role his build still includes items that make him tanky.
And what about "(and the small number of abilites that proc on-hit effects as noted below)"? :) OK i understand, then it's my fault and i was wrong. I think i need check it better in-game.
But. Still in lategame there's Warmog's Armor . Wit's End is situonal item too,of course. Building items is depending on your enemies. I can't say just "Buy this, buy this, replace this over this..." I think you understand me. I showed you base way how i recommend it.

Quick note on the Hextech Gunblade, lifesteal does not work on Urgot's Acid Hunter only his Auto-Attack, but Spell Vamp will work since it is an ability. I am not positive but the spell vamp might also work with his Noxian Corrosive Charge but as an AOE.
My other problem with this build is that you have no Armor or Magic Resist. If he gets focused at all, which usually is the case, poor Urgot would melt. Since he has no built in escape(except his ult. in lucky cases) and you have no Tenacity any form of CC would stop him in his tracks. You should list a few defensive items, such as Frozen Heart and Guardian Angel, into the situational items.
Eh,sorry but no. It does not matter if it's spell or auto-attack. It's depending on type of dmg it's dealing. Spell vamp is for Magic dmg and Lifesteal is for Physical. And AOE is giving you only 75 or 50% of dmg they deal to your lifes.
About defensive. Have you seen any Ashe,Miss or i don't know....Vayne,whatever with deffensive item? As defensive item i have Warmog's Armor there. You don't have to build it as last item. If you want, place it before BC. About escapes.. You can sometimes use "DEADTURN" with your shield to slow down chasing enemy.

I think urgot is better ad, which you seem to have. However Hextech Gunblade isn't that great for him. If you like the lifesteal then take the bloodthirster, it provides ad and 20% lifesteal with max stacks.
As wrote above... Read all build,Bloodthirster has been written in situonal items as replace to Hextech, with wrote situations to replace Gunblade. :) Gunblade is item which you should take when you know you need some early bonus for your shield and sufficient AD bonus and lifesteal. Try it once with Bloodthirster, once with Gunblade and you will see big difference between those 2 items. But Bloodthirster is pure dmg item, hextech has some bonus to shield and it's nice when it's online longer just because you can hold it with bonus ap! :)
