One of your greatest priorities, is farming. Ahri has a unique passive that when she gains 9 stacks (from hitting enemies with spells, maximum of 3 stacks per spell) she gains 35% spell vamp on her next hit. This is very useful when low on health as you can run up to a group of 4+ minions, cast an orb of deception and regain almost a third of your health or more!

One thing to remember when playing a co-op versus A.I game, be sure to include the enemy champion in your AoE farm shots, this will make them run away, giving you some breathing room. This is important because, near the beginning especially, Ahri is very squishy! (which is why iceborn gauntlet is taken...). another thing to to note, do NOT over extend yourself, you can and probably will die if this happens. As you go along you will notice that is often target for ganks. This is only detrimental early game as you will surely die without aide, however the later the game goes the greater your defense grows and you will be able to counteract the enemies easier. Another thing, feel no shame in using your ultimate ability to escape from enemies, essentially Spirit Rush is a flash, that can be used 3 times within 10 seconds, that also deals damage to 1-3 enemies.

A very good rotation to use when engaging an enemy player is to open up by using Fox-Fire, quickly using Charm on the opponent, and then casting a quick orb of deception to finish them. If needed, you should use your ult, but make sure using this ability doesn't bring you too deep. (Use it twice forward then once backwards to make sure you can escape turrets or other enemy champions). If you don't know you're going to hit with charm, another rotation to use, to make sure you don't waste Fox-Fire is as follows. Open up with Charm, assuming you hit the enemy champion follow up with Fox-Fire and then Orb of Deception and Spirit Rush if needed.

Do what you must to survive, even if that means using your ultimate to escape. Always use orb of deception to farm and gain 9 stacks of essence theft to gain 35% spell vamp. Use orb of deception when you have full essence theft on a group of minions to keep yourself from needing to recall, or on an enemy or group of enemy champions to help survive a gank. Always open up in Champ vs. Champ combat with Charm as your first or second hit. Use clarity when you are low on mana to avoid recalling or ooming in a team battle.

As can be seen in the above picture, i did a good job farming minions, making sure i used Orb Of Deception to get first and final hits (at higher levels the magic creep is killed by the cast and return of Orb of Deception). Another thing i made sure to do was use Essence Theft to my advantage, as i rarely had to recall (usually only recalled to buy new items :D). As can be seen i had to carry my team in order for us to win, just a small example of the power of Ahri if used properly. P.S as you can see i did not build properly that game, but even so i still did good! That just proves how decent Ahri is even if you mess up your build.
