Hey guys this is my first build guide. The reason I chose Garen was because he is a rather safe pick and is easy to pick up. Enjoy! :D

Flash/teleport is great for escapes and map control. Take flash/ignite for aggressive play. Take flash/ghost for escapes/catching. If you want super offensive go ignite/exhaust. I would not take any other spells for Garen.

In lane you should focus on farm. When it comes to trading go Q>W>E and if they are low enough R. You can go E and while your spinning hit q to catch up with them and follow up with a silence. Remember that the lower health they are the more damage your ult will do. Do not open up with your ult, use it as a finisher. If you have ignite you can poke them down to about 40% health you can Q>R>Ignite and if needed E.

Starting Q will allow you to defend red/blue buff and escape if need be. Put the next point in your E to start dealing tons of damage. Then grab W. Garen's W is under estimated. It gives you 20% BONUS armor and magic resist, and REDUCES INCOMING DAMAGE AND CROWD CONTROL BY 30% on activation. That will allow you to come out of trades with more health and allows for easier escapes. Max E first for early game damage. Max Q third. Then W last. As always, max R whenever possible.

I like the health pendant,2 wards,and the 4 health pots. It gives great sustain and vision on river/top. Starting Dorans Shield and a health pot is a good start against ranged champs. On my first back I like to get Brutalizer [if I got a kill] for cool down, damage, and armor penetration. If I need more health or armor/magic resist I will get a chain vest, giants belt, or a spectres cowl. If going full tank do not get the brutalizer. Make sure to get boots between brutalizer and chain vest/giants belt or spectres cowl. Then build sunfire cape/spirit visage. Upgrade to tier 2 boots. Then get Black Cleaver. The rest will depend on their team. Normally I get either sunfire cape or spectres cowl [depending on what I got first] after black cleaver. Then locket [if support/jungler doesn't have it] then watmogs. Zephyr is nice for tenacity , or phantom dancer to move through units freely. Youmuus ghostblade is nice for armor pen, movement speed active, and critical strike [his spin can crit].
