A new way to play Sona.
Hi, I'm bwritter from the LoL Ready Up app. Welcome to a new way to play Sona. This gold-generating, infini-casting AP powerhouse has carried my team to victory more than once.
The extra +5 gold, in addition to your masteries, pushes Sona into a mid-game power house. Mana regeneration here means you should never have to go back to base until you have 2000+ gold, or at around the 12 minute mark. Completing the item set turns you into a late-game terror, chunking tanks down 40% at a time, healing your team for hundreds of HP at once, pulling everyone away from danger and reversing bad team fights. You'll have the enemy jungler cursing your name. Expect Sona to be nerfed sometime in Season 6 if everyone starts playing this way.
Pros / Cons
Not all is rosy here though. Sona is a glass cannon, so play like one. Don't get hooked or pulled, and stay away from enemies with significant crowd control. Failure to stay in lane as long as possible will hinder your ability to reach your item goals in time for mid-game.
That said, this build really thrusts you into a carrying position. The gold generation keeps you in the game, even when you're down by several kills. The mana regeneration makes for limitless lane sustain, which you will use to soak up passive gold from minions you don't have to kill. You will experience bursts of CDR twice, once before mid game, and again as team fights begin in full. In the end, you are an AP powerhouse throwing abilities into action as fast as you can mash them all the while single-handedly keeping your team alive with crazy amounts of healing and shielding.
