Hello, welcome to my Sona guide.
Sona is a very powerful support, as you may have experienced.
I dont stack AP on Sona, because her abilitys doesnt scale well, and your team benefits more from these items,than if you build a full ap, cooldown reduction build.
My playstyle with Sona is very agressive and thats why i start with the meki pendant and uprade it into tear og goddess.

These i believe to be the standard support masteries.
I dont take the ward mastery because of the minor improvement it does.

Tear of the Goddess

This item is for helping Sona with her mana cost, Sona is very mana heavy, and need this to be able, to spam her spells (if needed).

Philosopher's Stone

Philosopher's stone and Heart of Gold

Is for the extra gold that is needed, for a support to have a better and more steady gold income

Zeke's Herald

Zeke's Herald

Im in love with this item! This helps your AD carry, a great deal, and almost secures a good early game.

Shurelya's Reverie

This is a must for every support, the movement speed is essential for fleeing or chasing.

Aegis of the Legion

This item is just a good overall item.

Locket of the Iron Solari

I like this item. It gives your team the edge in a teamfight, its also a nice savior from ignite.

Sight Ward

Sight Wards

This is a MUST! EVERY support buys wards, and i left a spot in the inventory for wards because its an item that you must buy trough the game. Every person have to buy wards, but the main source for theu buy wards trough out the hole game.

Archangel's staff

Take this if you want the mana, and the AP, its an ok item for Sona

Soul Shroud

You could take this item, because of the cooldown reduction.

Vision Ward

Take this if they have a Twitch, Shaco, Evelynn, or to clear wards at Baron or alike.

Morello's Evil Tome

I like to take this item, if youre winning the game, and you want to join the party, of fun.

Q
I start with this, because poking with Sona is essential, and you want to do this, trough the whole laning phase. I max this first but heal follow it. This and your passive (power chord) makes a really good poke. A glass cannon Ashe is going to have half hp in level 3, with that poke.

W
This is your heal, it doesnt scale with AP very well, but its good if you max it second. I believe that your Q is better and therefore i max it first but i also think, if you poke them, they are gonna try and poke you, and therefore you need the heal.

E
I take this at level 5 because you should have it, but max it last, because its not as good, as your Q or W.

R
This is your "OP" ultimate. Takes this when you can off cause. In laning phase use it for a burst kill or use it for escaping a jungler or alike. In late game, use it at the start of the team fight to get the upperhand.

I take this because of the escape mechanism that is needed.


This is also essential for the support. It helps the jungler finding the other jungler, or scout their blue buff.


You could thake this instead of Flash, but only take this if you think if playing really passive.


Also this is instead of Flash, but flash is instant and ignores slows and such.


This is a really good summoner spell, that some pro players take instead of Clairvoyance, but i dont take this because the ad carry could take this instead of you.

Again, take this instead of Flash, but they are not gonna exhaust you, so no reason for taking it.


Please dont take this. You dont need it with the mana regen, you get from this build.


You dont need this. But sure you could take this.


A support should stay in the lane with the AD carry, so teleport is not needed.

Dont do this.

You as the support, need to ward, and thats not just at baron, dragon, and lanes.
