Hello, after lots of searching for builds for season 3 I couldn't really find one for my style of play. So in turn I worked this build out from scratch and think I found a nice one. Now if you're looking for lots of kills this may not be for you. This build is geared more towards team fighting and countering a gank in middle lane. This is accomplished by building in to penetration of both types, magic and armor. The reason for this is because I have found that late game Katarina can be "limited" on her damage output in team fights, so while in team fights not only can Katarina pick off the weaker links but heavily damage those pesky tanks as well.

You're masteries should be divided up equally on AP, Damage, Magic Penetration, and Armor Penetration. The masteries I have chosen are what I prefer. Otherwise, with a nice divided mastery set, you could get just as good or even better results at the end of the game. Although just starting out I recommend this set up.

The runes are a very important part of this build. The reason being that only one item in the build gives you magic penetration. So in turn you have to get it from you're runes. Now the reason I chose the runes I did was simply to A.) Get nice penetration from the start and B.) To be able to deal a descent amount of damage from the start. You'll notice from looking at this, I have built Katarina to be sort of a hybrid, the items will also reflect this for the soul reason being that she can be a high damage output middle lane champion.

Now for the skills, The reason for the order in which i pick the skills is mainly to be able to A.) get early kills and B.) runaway quickly, and not feed. With this build it is the absolute worst thing you can do because you will probably never catch back up. That being said following this skill sequence can help stay alive and live another day, as well as getting quick and early kills.

The reason for the items I have chosen is to really capitalize on you're penetrations and Katarina's Ultimate. Secondly you may have noticed some cool down reduction as well. This is a very good attribute for Katarina because she doesn't use mana or energy. Also not that there is roughly the same amount of magic damage and regular damage, again to highlight on the hybrid type build. The main idea of the build is fairly prominent, Dealing lots of damage through area's of effect as well as some slowing of enemy champions. Its all about the Damage output. Unfortunately early game can be kind of slow with a build like this. A good Katarina player can get an early kill though and it really takes off after that. Farming creeps and getting early kills are essential for this build!
