Kennen: Aggression in All Things

Updated a bit, might have a lot of mistakes :p point them out for me :D

Well i dont think that this masteries are the best for Kennen, and Flash with Ignite is not good for him too.

If new players of Kennen will read your guide they will play not good as they really can play him.

Make some changes, work on that ! ^^

^ Well, marbles to you, sir! I also have played Kennen for a while, and also was inspired by Hugenjpanda to write a guide. But since I'm busy, I'll vote up this one. I use a similar build, but I go 21/9/0, AP quints, Flat Health Seals, get Rab's before Zhonya's, go Abyssal and end with Lich Bane. However, you, unlike Hugen, you go into great detail about Gameplay, very strong guide.

But I wonder - I have tried it a bit myself - how would Morello's/Deathfire Grasp work? One hand, CDR is nice for a mage, as it adds more DPS, but on the other, unless you check yourself, you will run out of Energy like my cellphone.

Well, while I myself use more offensive masteries, your masteries are all over the place. (Yes, I stalked you.) You don't specialize in anything, while your choices in the Utility Tree are fine, you don't go for the upper-tiers in Offence, something that a Carry should do. Since you already use Flash, I guess you're talking about Ignite. Kennen is fast enough, without Ghost, and AP Carries need to burst someone down, so Ignite is perfect for finishing the target off.

If new players use this guide, they will know what to do! tehAsian has a detailed guide on gameplay, teamfighting, and item discussion. As harsh as I may sound, you're build just gives a few notes on each.

Will a player suddenly trusted into playing Kennen find your guide more useful? Maybe. But if he read chose a guide ahead of time, he would have better understanding of Kennen with this one.

About that...
I said in the beginning that this guide was for more experienced players. Also, being tanky is kind of what kennen is about, since he's not actually supposed to nuke anyone because of his ****py ap scaling (.75:1, .55:1, .65:1), its usually enough in the offense tree to have the 15% magic pen and the rest arent actually beneficial. A 18 AP boost at level 18 isnt worth it IMO, its really small and unnoticable ._. .

Also, flash is good for positioning your ultimate better, but ghost works as well if you chase people, but when you think about it, you have an almost constant AoE stun and while stunned, any movement ability can't be used. Ignite was more for the extra damage early game, it really helps get those stacks ^^

I used to get rabs before zhonya too, but then i realized i was putting in a ton of risk. zhonya is a key item for kennen, there have been countless times where i was saved by it, ulti on or off. After looking at 21/9/0 masteries, it seems to be better than the defensive tree now. thanks for that insight! :3

I've tried morello before, and ive liked it. your Q becomes incredibly spammable and, seeing how it does the most single target damage, can help with kiting and bringing down people faster. but, i generally try not to get cdr because as fast as energy regenerates, using 45 energy every 2 seconds can really drain it quickly. theres also been situations where with 10 or 15 extra energy i could use my E to escape, but ended up dying. as with the deathfire, ive never tried it, ill look into it asap.

I use DFG as a part of my burst/Taker Dominion build, but that's more about takin' a kid down than team fighting, so it isn't optimal for Kennen's kit. However, I think the energy problem could be solved by Energy/5 per Level Seals.

I also went Zhonya's then Rabs, but it all comes down to how soon and often teamfights are occuring. If you feel like they're going to start soon, by all means get the hourglass. However, your damage output soars when you get the cap and you probably will be able to do a number on your opponent before they can focus you: easy kill for your team.

Also, get a point in Summoner's Wrath instead of Mental Force, you get more 5 AP and 5 AD when Ignite is on cooldown as opposed to 1 AP the whole time.

Good job with the guide, very complete. I liked reading it.
I will downvote now becouse i think putting a mejais in a core build is crazy; this depends 100% of the skill of the player and not the power of the champion.
Well you are putting some emphasis in aggression, and i like that. I like a lot your masteries, i think they are the best for kennen, and they are the same that i use, but i dont like mercury threads, i'll preffer getting more damage with magic pen boots, and lich bane, well, i think there are better choices that that item, it have a good passive, but you are loosing some mana that you dont have.

The second guide, hmm i dont like exhaust for kennen, leave that for the ad carries. So how i was saying, i dont like that defence masteries and that runes, but the item build there is ok.

The reason mejai is in the core build is Zhonya's Hourglass. These items give great synergy together, imo. Zhonya's Hourglass is rushed after mejais to safeguard your stacks, and it makes you invincible so you don't lose them. Also, mejai is more like keeping your ap up while you get your zhonya, so you dont fall behind in damage while grabbing survivability items.

as for Lich Bane, it fell in the situational item, not the core build. you can completely ignore it if you like ^^. you can also switch merc treads early game for sorc shoes, as i sometimes do, but late game you should ALWAYS get merc treads. a CCed champion is a dead champion.

Last, the second build was for optional items, masteries, etc, lol. dont pay attention to it.
