Introduction

First off this guide is a SIMPLE guide, not going extremely deep into Leblanc but allowing anyone who reads it to get grasp of her and learn Leblanc by themselves.
And this is my first guide :)

Who and What is Leblanc?

Leblanc is a mobile AP assasin who focuses on single target burst (taking down squishies).
This guide is meant to show you how I play Leblanc and why she is so fun to play.

To be honest, when I first bought Leblanc I was around level 14 or so, I basically facerolled everyone with the QR combo, but that was it. I dropped her 4-5 matches after I bought her. I had no clue how much more pontential she had. When I started playing her again at level 30 and I actually noticed how to combo, everything became so much easier and fun.

Also even though I've spent a while playing ranked games, Leblanc isn't my favorite pick there for a couple of reasons:
1) She isn't as capable of carrying a team as other AP mids.
2) She gets easily counterpicked.

Again I repeat, this guide is to give you advice and knowledge on how to play Leblanc. But to master her everything comes with practice, always reflect on your mistakes.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
  • Extremely Mobile
  • Very fun to play
  • Easy to learn
  • High Burst
  • Excelent Roamer

Cons:
  • Squishy
  • Hard to master
  • Early Game dependant
  • Hard time farming

Masteries

because Leblanc tends to have a hard time farming because of her single target spells ( isn't really reliable to farm with until late game).

I like the utility tree due to the fact that I take deathfire grasp early so taking that 1 point on is quite helpfull.

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

Ive been asked a couple of times why to take these runes as Leblanc. I mean Armor? Why?

First of all, Leblanc relies a LOT (if not completely) on her early game debut. If she stays even early she will be, remember this word, USELESS.

I take the armor runes because I tend to do early trades, which involves taking minion damage and several autoatacks.
Since Leblanc has really good mobility you should learn to avoid any skillshots with your W, so taking armor runes is the best option for general laning.

Why no mana regen runes? I get OOM really quick on Leblanc!
If you can check the item build, you will notice I take plenty of lane sustain pots, this will be further explained.

The other runes are pretty standar, non-scaling (flat) in order to get the best out of early game.

Summoner Spells

Explanation:

Must have for any assasin to be honest. Secures kills, allows early firstbloods and snowballing.

Fits perfectly with Leblanc's mobility, allows to gapclose and combo from really far away. Also allows you to do incredible jukes. Great synergy with Leblanc.

This spell can be really good if you are duoing or premading, even in solo que. Teleporting to a random location and then surprising your enemies with a combo can turn the tides in any lane.

Items

This is probably the most important part in Leblanc's gameplay. How you build is very important.

Item Sequence

Health Potion 50
Health Potion 50
Health Potion 50
Health Potion 50
Mana Potion 0
Mana Potion 0
Mana Potion 0

With the current changes on Season 3, now every champion has more movement speed and boots give less movement speed. This allows mid laners and top laners to try different early builds.

This is my standar first buy. Why?
  • It allows you to stay in lane for ages.
  • Almost always wins when trading Vs any mid with boots + 3 pots (except when ganked or heavily outplayed)
  • Allows you to force your enemy back early which gives you exp advantage.

On your first back you will have 2 options:

Buy or buy +

Buy the boots if you think you will be able to snowball easily and are against a champion that isn't able to burst you down so easily.

I always prefer to buy the Ruby crystal + Amplifying tome, it is a must when laning against or since they have high burst damage. Certain oponents will be explained later on.

Rabadon's Deathfire grasp This item has godly synergy with Leblanc. Your combo + Ignite + Deathfire grasp is an overkill on any adc and a sure kill on 90% of the AP carries. (Varies on what they build, etc etc.)

This item is extremely good for any AP caster, no matter who this item will increase your damage by a lot.

If you are really ahead, with this item and your current build you will start dealing true damage to everyone. But anyways this item is really good on Leblanc because when you get this item the enemy team will probably have some Magic Resistance, so a Void staff will fix that.

This item will allow you to juke even harder, although you will rarely get to the point of buying this item.

I do not like this item. Indeed it can be very good on Leblanc due to its snowballing potential but the fact that you can LOSE ability power doesn't seem worth it. This item will also make the enemy focus you. Leblanc's job is to dive into teamfights and combo squishies. With this item you are gambling that you will survive. And the fact that you have Mejai's will make the enemy want to kill you more. This is why I do not recomend this item. Can be situational though.

Sight Ward If you are winning, the enemy AP carry will most likely start crying for ganks, so always have at least 1 ward in order to stick to that side when fighting. Remember Leblanc is really squishy, so if you get CC'd you can get bursted down pretty easily.

Skills

Passive - Mirror Image

(Innate): When LeBlanc is brought below 40% health, she instantly becomes stealthed for half a second. When the stealth fades, she creates a Mirror Image of herself that can move, deals no attack damage, has 53 + (17 x level) less health, and lasts for up to 8 seconds. This can only occur once per minute, regardless of cooldown reduction. The illusion's autoattacks will proc on-hit effects (including damage).
Leash Range: 1125 (estimate)

Explanation:
I honestly like this passive, it is very hard to master but you can actually do what Leblanc does best, given her title "The Deciever" it is pretty obvious.
This passive can save you and can make the enemy champion cast a finisher on your mirror image. Ive had a couple of Fioras who ulted my clone and ended up saving me. Avoid messing up with this passive.

Sigil of silence Q - Sigil of silence

(Active): LeBlanc projects an orb towards her target, dealing magic damage and marking the target for 3.5 seconds. If the target takes damage from one of LeBlanc's abilities, the mark will trigger, dealing magic damage and silencing the target for 2 seconds.
Cooldown: 6 seconds
Range: 700
Projectile Speed: 2000

Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana
Initial Magic Damage: 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+0.6 per ability power)

Secondary Magic Damage: 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 (+0.3 per ability power)

Total Magic Damage: 90 / 150 / 210 / 270 / 330 (+0.9 per ability power)

Explanation:

This allows you to do some early harass on your enemy and becomes a great assasination tool at midgame. This is what makes Leblanc, Leblanc.
This is Leblanc's most basic spell. A single target spell.

W - Distortion
(Active): LeBlanc rapidly dashes to a target location, dealing magic damage to units near the location. In the following 3 seconds, she can activate Distortion again to blink back to her starting location.
Range to Center of AoE: 600
Radius of AoE: 250

Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 mana
Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 seconds

Magic Damage: 85 / 125 / 165 / 205 / 245 (+0.6 per ability power)

Explanation:

This skill allows Leblanc to be the assasin and deciever she is. This is like a built in flash, even better due to the fact that you can double press it to return to your previous location.
This spell can also be used for harassing. W to get closer to the enemy and land a Q then W back will allow you to do free damage if you do it fast enough.

E- Ethereal Chains
(Active): LeBlanc flings illusionary chains in a line towards a target location. If it hits an enemy unit, it will deal initial magic damage and leash to it, slowing their movement speed by 25% while the leash remains. If the target remains leashed after 2 seconds, the target takes additional magic damage and is rooted for a few seconds.
Cost: 80 mana
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Range: 950
Leash Range: 1000

Initial Magic Damage: 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 (+0.5 per ability power)
Delayed Magic Damage: 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 (+0.5 per ability power)

R
Total Magic Damage: 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 (+1.0 per ability power)

Root Duration: 1 / 1.3 / 1.6 / 1.9 / 2.2 second(s)

Explanation:
This is a skillshot similar to Ahri's charm or Morgana's Dark Binding with one big difference. You do not need this skillshot to land in order to innitate a potential trade. You usually use this skillshot as a follow-up when trading, if you land it, it will slow the enemy hit by it and root it in place after a short duration. This spell can decide whether you get a kill or not. It can also be used when someone is chasing you, if you land this, it will be almost impossible for them to keep chasing.

R - Mimic
(Active): LeBlanc casts the previous spell she cast. The mimicked spell deals significantly increased damage.

Cost: 100 / 50 / 0 mana
Cooldown: 40 / 32 / 24 seconds

Damage Increase: 10 / 25 / 40 %

Explanation:
Boom.
This is probably the easiest AP lvl 6 nuke in the game. It requires minimal effort to land it and it does tons of damage. It mimics your last skill cast, so if you cast Q and then R it will do x2 Sigil of silence meaning that the first one will proc the silence. It can also be used when escaping + means 2 flashed, this is what gives Leblanc her sick escapes and jukes at lvl 6.

Role - Lane destroyer

In this section I will describe her role in the current meta.

Leblanc has 3 main tasks.
  • Shut down the enemy mid in the laning phase.
  • Roam Top and Bot in order to get kills.
  • Destroy the ADC on teamfights.

The first task - Shutting down the enemy Mid laner.

Leblanc isn't concidered as good as other AP mids when it comes to carrying games due to the fact that she falls off lategame, she has only single target damage in comparison to other AP mids (Karthus, Katarina, Orianna, Ryze, Lux). This is why you need to make up for that. How? Destroy the enemy AP carry. Make him get into midgame with defensive items or no items at all. Leblanc's laning phase is really strong so abuse that. You win against almost every standard AP mid, your burst is insane. If you can't farm as good as other AP mids, don't let them farm either. Sigil of silence them on cooldown and harass them.

The second task -Roaming top and bot.

Since we know you won't be that great lategame, get your Carry fed by going bot and abusing the hell out of the enemy carry. Do the same with top, allow them to snowball. You have the mobility to do it, Leblanc's ganks are Godly, she has a gapclose, a slow+snare and a silence. Towerdiving with is very easy if done properly.

The third task - Shutting down the enemy AD carry.

When lategame comes by, you will have your . Your main role is to into the fight and Sigil of silence + + the adc. This will take him down aslong as you are somewhat fed. If not it will atleast allow some team mate to comeby and lasthit him. Don't forget to use again to return to your previous location to avoid dying. After killing the enemy AD carry, try to land on whoever is near and Sigil of silence + on the enemy AP to silence him.

Leburst

Comboing.

I've seen many people just spam the + Sigil of silence + combo and that makes me sad. It is true that this combo does a lot of damage, but she can do so much more.

Always try to follow up your Sigil of silence with , if you land Sigil of silence and then distortion into the enemy, you will proc the mark doing extra damage. At level 2 this is at least 50% of your enemy's HP.

When lvl 6 comes by try to have your Sigil of silence as your last casted spell. Why? Because if the enemy comes in range you can do another type of combo. You can simply into him (It will deal 10% more damage) and then Sigil of silence, this will proc the Mimic sigil. After this to proc the Sigil mark and then them. By the time ends you will most likely have your Sigil of silence again. If you do all this properly at lvl 6, you will have a sure kill.

So remember, always try to proc the Sigil of silence mark by using a follow up spell.

Laning phase

Level 1

Spam your Sigil of silence on cooldown. Try to land some sneaky autoattacks whenever you can.

Level 2
Follow up your Sigil of silence with to silence the enemy champion and avoid taking damage back. This combo will take them really low.

Level 4
Land your whenever you see a chance, if needed. Always remember using Sigil of silence before in order to silence the target.

Level 6

As previously explained. will allow you to do several different plays. The standard one is going with as a gapcloser and then Sigil of silence + and a if there is an opening.
(remember that if the target is silenced he won't be able to flash)

Hard Lanes

-In progress-

Galio

With all honesty I hate laning vs this guy. He will just sweep the floor with you. If he is not braindead he will outpush you and make you farm under the tower. There is very little you can do. He will ignore your damage due to the fact that it will be ridiculously low. Just try to keep up on farm and be somewhat usefull midgame. Your only hope is to roam like there is no tomrrow. Giving up your lane isn't a bad idea. If you can swap lanes with your top, do so.

Conclusion:
  • You will lose your lane.
  • You will be underfarmed.
  • You won't kill him.

Mordekaiser

This guy can be pretty annoying. He will push 24/7 and will block your harass. But nevertheless keep spamming your Sigil of silence like there is no tomrrow. It will eventually bring him low enough for a kill. Just avoid giving him free farm. He has no escapes so ganks will come in handy here.

Conclusion:
  • You can kill him.
  • He will outfarm you.
  • Needs to be shut down early.

Talon

Against talon you need to play smart. You both have the same kill potential although he has one advantage. He can silence you when he gapcloses. At lvl 6 you need to have some survivavility. Always try to land a chain on him when he gets too close. Dodge his harass and spam your Q. You will win trades early because you have a single target spell which doesn't pull minion aggro.

Conclusion:
  • You can outplay him.
  • He is killable.
  • Avoid letting him outpush you.

Final Comments

Leblanc is a really fun champion to play.

This guide is still under construction, I'm adapting to Season 3 as well so I will try to update this guide as often as possible.

Leave any comments if you'd like to know specific builds or matchups I'll be sure to check them out.

This is my first guide so please don't be too harsh on me.
