Introduction

Hey Ladys 'n Gents and welcome to my first Guide on Mobafire, which is about Lucian, the Purifier!

A little something to myself, I'm 21 years old and live in Germany!
My current Division is Platinum V and my main Lane is Bot.

Why I chose to make a Guide about Lucian?
Because I think Lucian has a really nice Skill Kit with alot of Kite potential. He also provides 2 AoE Skills, 1 escape Skill and 1 pretty awesome Ultimate which can turn a lost fight around!

Have fun and please leave a comment! :)

Runes

Runes

Domination
Electrocute
Predator
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

I like to run 9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage for the early Attack Damage and the ability to last hit more easier and to trade better. Those are pretty much standart runes for every AD-Carry. If you are pretty save with last hitting, you can also use greater mark of armor penetration, even though I highly recommend using the flat Attack Damage marks.

For Seals I recommend using 9x Greater Seal of Armor because you need some armor against the enemy AD-Carry so you recieve reduced damage. I don't see any other seals beeing more effective than armor seals for the AD-Carry.

The Glyphs are 4x Greater Glyph of Attack Speed to grant some additional attack speed and 5x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist for the early poke the enemy support provides. You can also go 9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist or 9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist.

Last but not least, I use 3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed to get a huge early attack speed boost to win trades and last hit better. If you are not that good at last hitting because of the lack of Attack Damage, you could also use 3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage.

Skill Sequence

Ability Sequence

Depending on the situation, I like to start off with my Piercing Light to poke or push the lane. As second skill, I put a point into Relentless Pursuit to eventuelly follow up or disengage, also depending on the situation. But normally just to have a different escape than to burn my Flash.
I put my Lvl 3 Point also in my Piercing Light to get an early advantage on the damage it provides to poke the enemy and win possible trades.
In generell, I like to max out my Piercing Light first, followed by my Relentless Pursuit and than my Ardent Blaze because I like the low cooldown and when Relentless Pursuit is maxed out, it needs no Mana to be casted. And as normal put a Point into The Culling at Lvl 6, 11 and 16.

Items

The Starting Items should always be:

On your first back, you should be able to buy either a:
or, if you don't have that much money:
Depending on how much money you have left, you can also by buy: and/or a second and you should sell your and buy a

If your lane is doing pretty well, you should aim to get those Items first (in buy order):

If your lane is doing not so good, go ahead and buy those Items first (in buy order):

After you've finished your Core Items, you should look at the enemys and choose what you should build next:

If the Enemy Team is AD-Heavy:
or

If the Enemy Team is AP-Heavy:
or

If the Enemy Team has alot of CC:
or

If the Enemy Team has alot of HP:

Pros / Cons

Pros:

- Really nice Burst
- Mobile Champ with an escape
- Provides 2 AoE Damage skills with a long range Ultimate
- Nice kiting potential due to his Ardent Blaze speed boost
- Decent HP at Lvl 18 (for an AD-Carry)

Cons:

- Mana hungry Early/-Mid game
- Needs alot of practice to master
- The Culling can be interupted/dodged easy

Teamfights

In Teamfights, you have to be way in the Background to not to draw the attention onto you so early on in the fight. When the Tanks engage, you activate your Youmuu's Ghostblade followed by The Culling to get maximum Damage out of it. After that, the Enemy Tanks/Assassins will probably try to burst you or the AP-Carry down ASAP due to the Damage output. Your support should try to peel for you by providing CC. When the enemys are stunned/slowed/snared or what so ever, you should make good use of your passive. Skillsequence should looke like

Youmuu's Ghostblade -> The Culling -> Auto Attack -> Relentless Pursuit -> Auto Attack -> percing light -> Auto Attack -> Ardent Blaze -> Auto Attack

Use your Relentless Pursuit right after the Auto Attack from The Culling because for every Lightslinger shot, the cooldown from Relentless Pursuit is reduced by 2 seconds if an Enemy Champion got hit. After you used Ardent Blaze + the Auto Attack, your Relentless Pursuit should be up again every second.

Summary

Overall, I think that Lucian is a viable pick as an AD-Carry due to his awesome Skillkit and Kite potential. Of course it takes some time to get used to him, but that's most likely like every other Champion. If you are completly new to the AD-Carry role, try practicing in a Bot-Game how to Last Hit and to get used to the Skills. If you are feeling safe with that role, you can play in normal Games aswell, but shoulnd't focus on wins, but more on Lucian.
