Introduction

Lux is my second favorite champion for many reasons. She is mobile, her snipes are great for cleaning up and she is a great team champion. For a while I stopped playing her but I have recently gotten back into the whole light mage thing and I find myself wondering why I ever stopped playing her! She is very fun and although some people say she is weak early I find that she has some great harassment, she is able to keep even the most annoying champions pushed back. This guide will cover my item build, runes, masteries, summoner spells, skill sequence, and teamwork.

Runes

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration I went with these because magic pen. is always a good choice for mages.
Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration Even with these and clarity Lux has some crazy mana issues even at 18 but these do help quit a bit.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power I went with these because the flat AP glyphs do not contribute a whole lot and I would perfer a whole 3 more ap than the 1 you get from the flats.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction You can use these for cool downs if you prefer I find that cool downs are GREAT on Lux!
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power More ap! Always a good thing.

Masteries

I went with offense for a few reason, I like to play Lux pure damage while I do have some defensive items for situational purposes the build is mostly offensive. I do have points in utility as well for the mana regeneration because she does have some mana problems at least earlier on, improved Flash and two points in Swiftness for that little bit of extra speed. Now I know most people get Runic Affinity but I find that a lot of times my junglers are greedy and do not offer me blue, sad I know, so I get the move speed instead.

Items

For items I start with Doran's Ring and farm my way up to boots. Now you can go two ways here, you can go Sorcerer's Shoes or you can build Chalice of Harmony and then finish your boots. Depending on my lane i'll go Chalice before tier 2 boots so I can spam my spells more often. After those two just leave the Chalice for now and work on your Rabadon's Deathcap and then go for Lich Bane. If you do not want Lich Bane just yet just get the Sheen and leave it. Zhonya's Hourglass is next on our list for the armor, ability power and of coarse the invulnerability. If you are not having problems with attack damage enemies go ahead and finish your Athene's Unholy Grail otherwise now is the time to get it. Last is up to you, if you only need the magic penetration go for the Void Staff or if you need the magic resistance go for Abyssal Mask.
Mejai's Soulstealer This item is a good item especially if you are getting kills but I find that I do not get it very often this might just be me but it is a very nice item and you can feel free to get this, unless you are not getting fed.

Skill Sequence

Okay now on to skills. A lot of Lux players get Light Binding first, but I find that Lucient Singularity helps you farm better. Since I play Lux purely offensive I only get 1 point in Prismatic Barrier once at level 4 this is becuase there have been times when I did not learn it untill level 13 and I have died countless times because that little bit of warding was not there so I like to get I point in at 4 then not again until 14. I always get points in Finales Funkeln (note: this spell is now called Final Spark but Mobafire has yet to change it) whenever possible, that one was a given though, its a great source of damage and at rank 1 I believe its only an 80 second cooldown but with max cooldown reduction and rank 3 it will only be 24 seconds!

Summoner Spells

For summoner spells I prefer to use Ignite and Flash. Ignite is a great finisher and with the mastery it give 5 extra ability power. Flash is a great spell for both chasing and running away. I personally do not recommend using Ghost because I find that Lux needs Flash more than a a short speed boost but if you enjoy the speed then go right ahead. Clarity is seen a lot on Lux and for a good reason, she uses TONS of mana and it is not only good early game but even later after or near the end of a team fight you might find yourself low or completely out of mana. I sometimes see people play her with say Teleport and Ignite or something similar but I personally love the escape Flash offers, if you become a major threat you will be focused and Flash will be needed.

Team Work

Like all ranged mages you need to stay towards the back of the fights. With Lux this can be hard since her Light Binding will hit minions so if there are minions you may have to preposition yourself. With cool downs you will be able to spam your spells much faster and do a lot of damage, along with Illumination and Lich Bane this means not only are your spells doing damage but her passive is being applied more often and her Lich Bane procs will come up faster (compared to say a super long cool down spell that cannot be spammed and therefor cannot proc the Lich Bane. Lux's ultimate is on a short cool down, even without any sort of cool down reduction it is only 40 seconds at rank 3 and can be used quite often. If I have cool down reduction I feel perfectly fine with using it for not only clean ups but at the start team fight, using it at the start gives a good amount of damage for your teammates to come into and if the fight lasts long enough you can use it again to clean up the runners.

Farming

Lux is great at farming with her E. at higher ranks and AP you can take out a whole minion wave. There was a large minion wave once, you know the kind where its like a small army, and my friend was like come help me I have no aoe so i ran up and used my E and killed the whole mob. She was like wow that was cool. If you are having a good game what with farm and even kills, go for dragon , I have found that Lux can solo it at 11 if you know what your doing.

Closing

Okay well that is my build for Lux I would love to hear your feedback but please nothing offensive (I.E. cussing or negativity to others) I appreciate your comments and votes. Happy Sniping!
