Force of Nature looks like the best substitution I can think of. Kind of pricey, but I never frown at move speed or health regen.

Spirit Visage would cost less and max out the CDR, but the MRes would be only a small gain. Alistar really needs CDR if he doesn't want to be ignored.

Hmmm. I'll think about that. Thornmail might be the right item and the right time to make a substitution.

I see one big problem with the item build you have. There is almost no magic resist at all. It would be great for an AD heavy team, but I think you need more balance or at least options for more magic resist.

I haven't tried this yet because I've never played with Alistar, but this is well-written and sometimes funny. I guess that despite their mythological strength, Minotaurs need strategy, too.

I ran the numbers, and it's not an improvement in stats to do what I just said, but it's a lot more affordable and you'll get two activated abilities that work well with the build. You're free to use runes more defensively than what I said here, too, since AP for the roar or AD for the turrets is nice, but probably not really central. If you're really rich, trade the sash for Guardian Angel at the end.

Thornmail and Randuin's Omen instead of Aegis and Frozen Heart, maybe? And Quicksilver Sash to pick up the lagging MDef, possibly sooner than the other two. Before the Omen if you want a good chance of completing it.

Darkcorpse might be right - maybe swap out the Aegis for something tankier. Randuin's Omen might work better, since it cools down like the ultimate and works with it, and might be a good replacement for Frozen Heart. I'll consider updating later after I think about it more.

IMO this isn't a real tank build. Even with all of his items I could eat him up as a carry. This MIGHT be a viable support build. But there are much better supports I would rather have on my team.

(My first 6 games or so were a parade of Leroy Jenkins affairs, I am sad to say.)

Thanks for the first comment and the +1. I'd love to hear comments about how to modify this, if it can work for competitive games. I'm finding that at the very least, I'm pulling my weight in beginner vs AI games.

Haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to vote this up, since you put a lot of good information in here.
