Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
-Choice given to either max Reckless Swing first or alongside Vicious Strikes. some criticism made me see how this would work.
-basic edits under "Abilities"
-Skill sequence changed to equally max Reckless Swing and Vicious Strikes alongside eachother.
-Strong mid/late game.
-more health, more damage!
-Ultimate that removes ALL DISABLES!
-No ranged damage besides Undertow
-not a threat when out of melee range
-most people pop his ulti just to get out of a fight
-If you're backed up and can't reach minions, you can't use Vicious Strikes to beef yourself up with some extra lifesteal.
I prefer to take greater mark of desolation for the armor penetration which works really well with Ragnarok and AD champions in general. So this is especially good early game where your melee harass will do a great amount of damage early.
I take Greater Seal of Armor for all my AD champions with the exception of my tanks, but i recommend these Seals to all your frail and even your durable champions.
I take Greater Glyph of Magic Resist for early Magic Resist to help my durability even more in lane so that i can take consistent hits from enemy champions.
Quintessenses(Any damn color you want):
I take Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage for some early game dominance in lane. It makes farming a little easier and harassing a little stronger so i can push back a little farther.
If you also take a look at the jungle Olaf build, i take greater quintessence of desolation instead for the extra armor penetration.
i take standard 21-9-0 masteries. I master the offense tree to be able to dish out the most damage possible and the 9 in the defense tree for the extra armor and health to keep me in the tanky-DPS feel.
- Your attack speed is increased by 1% for every 1% health missing. This passive makes Olaf a great 1v1 fighter because you'll be a very deceptive fighter at low life
- Olaf throws an axe into the ground at a target location, dealing damage to units it passes through and slowing their movement speed. If Olaf picks up the axe, the ability's cooldown is reduced by 6 seconds.
Olaf throws an axe to a target location, dealing 50/90/130/170/210 (+) physical damage to units it passes through and slowing them by 24/28/32/36/40% for 2.5 seconds. I take a point early at level 1 for LaneLaf, level 3 for JungleLaf.. Great to catch up to fleeing enemies, but is a hard skillshot to land.
- Olaf's attack damage is increased, based on his health, and he gains massive lifesteal and spell vamp.
For 6 seconds, Olaf's attack damage is increased by 7/14/21/28/35 (+ [1% of maximum Health]) and he gains 9/12/15/18/21% lifesteal and spell vamp. For JungleLaf, i choose to max this first. With Lanelaf, i choose to max this alongside Reckless Swing. this makes you a great jungler and amazing skirmisher because the tankier you build, the more damage you'll end up dealing.
- Olaf attacks with such force that it deals true damage to his target and himself.
Olaf ferociously swings his axes, dealing 100/160/220/280/340 true damage to his target.Amazing early game damage. Max this along side Vicious Strikes. With Lanelaf, it will give you mad up-close damage early game and mad damage with JungleLaf if you land your Undertow while ganking.
- Active: Removes all disables from Olaf and for the next 6 seconds, he is immune to disables and reduces incoming damage by 20/30/40.
Passive: Olaf has 10/20/30 increased armor penetration. Take this whenever possible. This in my opinion is one of the best ultimates in the game because it can turn the tide in a CC heavy 1v1 or even 2v1 and you can still come out on top. Why? extra armor pen. and can't be disabled. period.
As you can see, i choose to take Undertow at level 1 to harass and hit minions from a distance in case i'm getting outranged by that pesky Morgana or getting perma-stunned by that Sion. Then i focus on maxing Vicious Strikes for the most lifesteal and spell vamp and Reckless Swing for the most true damage early in the game to decimate the champions stacking armor.; I take my ultimate at levels 6, 11, and 16.
Alright, here are the summoner spells i use and why i use them.
I know what all of you are probably thinking "What the hell, Why do you need Cleanse on a champion that has his own personal Cleanse?!" Here is my answer. Do you always want to use your ultimate to escape a situation? Didn't think so. Hence i use Cleanse to BUST MY *** OUT OF THERE!
And here's the second part of the infamous "Bust my *** out of there" summoner spell combo. Using Ghost along with Cleanse can get you out of any heavy CC situation, and wait for it, WITHOUT USING YOUR ULTI!
You can take Smite if you take a look at the jungle Olaf build and want to jungle. i will set up a jungle guide close to the end of the guide.
If you've looked at my previous guides, you'll see that items are my favorite things to explain. So here it goes
Team work can make or break anyone. Which is why it can be absolutely vital to someone like Olaf because of the amazing damage he can deal. Since he isn't the tankiest person in the game, he can't take too many hits without dying, so always have your support snag the target with a hard CC and jump onto that target. Since you'll be playing the role of a damage deal (duh), you'll need to target the most important players on the enemy team to save your allies, and to secure a victory for your team.
If you do take a look at the second Olaf build, you'll see that Smite is equipped. Yes, i do have a jungle path for Olaf.
-1) You'll want mid to leash Golem buff for you so that you won't take too much damage from him, giving you a better chance at staying alive during your first jungle route. You'll want to take Vicious Strikes for the lifesteal in the jungle to keep yourself nice and healthy. You'll want to use Smite to make sure that you don't get buff stolen. With Golem buff you can keep Vicious Strikes spammable.
-2) Next, clear the wolves. By this time, you'll be level 2, take 1 point in Reckless Swing for the Lizard buff, but go for Wraiths before Lizard, so that red buff is still fresh for your ganking phase.
-3) Then clear up the small Golem camp, get your boots, and go gank those lanes!
Now here you must ask and answer these questions
1) Is the lane warded? Any halfwit in a solo top, or any lane for that matter, will have a ward, so buy a Vision Ward to counteract their sight ward. Then your ganks will be unexpected.
2)Should i stay in the jungle or gank a lane? This is something that can really get to you. If your solo top can survive and last-hit without taking too much damage, then stay in the jungle and level yourself up. If your lane is in dire need of a gank, then go for it, keep them off your low-life ally and let them recall and cover that lane. It can be as simple as that.
