Introduction

Welcome to my Riven build, where you will see and learn how i find Riven most effectively.

Lets look at what we've found about Riven. If you build full AD, you'll realize that your squishiness will be an easy target to the enemy team. However, if you build Too tanky, your damage will be minimal, and your disruption as a Tanky DPS isn't as strong.
This build here is a mix of damage and Tanky DPS, that deals damage and gives as much disruption as it can to help your enemy team.

Take at look at each section. Look at the Items Section for an understanding.

Skills and Abilities

Let's start with Riven's passive.

Runic Blade.

Upon using an ability, you get one stack on Runic Blade, which on your next autoattack, can be spent do deal additional damage. You will see that this ability works very well when the enemy team is not focusing you. Being able to use this effectively can produce a lot more damage than expected. Also, you can do maximum damage with Allowing you to easily autoattack between each attack.

Broken Wings.

Broken Wings is unique to Riven, as it allows you to move in very different ways/directions.

You have an extreme amount of increased mobility.
It allows you to get in range for your Ultimate.
It is a way of scaring enemies if used continuously.
With CC, able to easily use Runic Blade Passive to your advantage.

Ki Burst

Great AOE Stun
Some Nice Burst If build well.
Great for letting teammates catch up for a kill.
Allows the usage of Runic Blades with the stun allowing the combo begin to roll.

Valor

Gives a shield scaled off AD.
Increases Mobility greatly for positioning of Broken Wings.
Allows you to dodge many Skill Shots.
Allows you to get in range for your ultimate.

Blade of the Exile

Huge Cone nuke on low hp enemies.
Increased AD FOR 15 SECONDS! (Great for starting a 1v1)
Longer range on attacks. (See

Item Build

I find that the way you build Riven separates the good from bad. What can we look for in Riven? Sustain to make up for what she's missing, quick Burst damage and lots of chasing/escape ability.

CORE BUILD

X 2

Always start with Dorans Blade as your first item. The HP and AD is all you need in the begging. HOWEVER: Choose whether you need 2 Doran's Blade. You often need 2 Doran's Blade to have enough sustain in lane early.

Immediately afterwards, (of after Level 1 boots), quickly pick up your Brutalizer. DO NOT BUILD IT INTO A YOUMUU'S IMMEDIATELY.

Afterwards, pick up Ionian Boots. CDR is one of beauties of Riven, allowing her to use her combos more frequently.

Now, BEFORE YOU BUILD ANY FULL CORE ITEMS (Excluding Boots), Pick up your Giant's Belt. Getting the extra health will be help in taking down enemies with more sustain.

NOW, You build your Brutalizer into your Youmuu's Ghostblade. What's great bout Youmuu's Ghostblade.
- You get CDR and Armor Pen.
-Upon Activation gives you a MOVEMENT and attack speed buff.

Now with your new Frozen Mallet, you have plenty of health, and with your slow, will give a MUCH EASIER time to autoattack between each attack,

With Trinity Force, you get an all around stat boost, although Mana and AP is unnecessary. You also get the amazing Sheen proc which works really well with Riven. Of significance is the MOVEMENT BOOST.
FINAL ITEMS

OR
This is an interesting way of branching off.

In' Atma's, you will end up build Trinity Fratma's. Which Does Work well, letting Riven get some really good AD and Nice Armor.

On the other hand, you can get Bloodthirster's.

Bloodthirster's with be very useful with your lifesteal, not to mention the large AD boost. Build Bloodthirster's if you thirst extra damage.

FINALLY, Build Magic Resist by buidling Force of Nature. Magic Resist, Health Regen and MOVEMENT SPEED all are a part of this asset.

So, if you have noticed, if you were to finish this build, not only would you have good some nice amount AD and tankiness, BUT you have a lot of movement from Youmuu's active, Trinity and FoN. Not to mention the fact that Frozen Mallet will slow. This over movement boost puts Riven's mobility in a whole new level, and will allow you to position yourself easily.

Runes

Mark of Desolation

Simple A PEN to add to your burst.

Seal of Resilience

Because you get FoN almost last, the extra MR would be nice during the entire game.

Glyphs of Celerity

The CDR bonus is nice just for the spammability late/mid game.

Quintessences of Desolation

More A PEN.

Masteries

My Masteries are ran by the most used 21/6/3.

Taking all the offensive damage dealing and CDR Offensive Masteries, along with Exhausr

Taking the first level resistances in the Defence Tree

And finally taking the time spent ead reduced.

It is possible to get more in defense, perhaps 16/14/0, however because your late game is a little weaker, all the AD boosts you can get is worth it.

Summoner Spells

RECOMMENDED

Exhaust is always a wonderful spell of Riven. One: It allows you to easily get off your ult as they run. Two: After the enemy commits to the fight, pop Exhaust, followed by your ult, and let the damage begin to roll in.

You can't always rely on your mobility to save your butt. Use flash defensively, OR offensively to get in range for your ultimate. OR with ganks (Flash --> Valor --> Ki Burst)

ALTERNATIVES

Same as flash. Offensive or Defensive, your call.
Teleport really works on ANY champion in this game.
Good for finishing off enemies, although, that's what your ult is for.
Sure if you hate CC.
If you REALLY need it...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Oh cmon, you should know not to take this.
I HOPE YOU UNINSTALL IF YOU THINK THIS IS VIABLE.
Not your Job.
Not your Job.
Nope Nope Nope.

Conclusion

I will add more, but in conclusion:

Riven's early game is extremely strong, especially against overaggressive enemies. Does not have to be babysitted, but it doesn't hurt.

She's an average Solo Top, however going against anyone with strong sustain is no good.
Her abilities let you have many different types of combos in unison with your teammates. Her Gameplay is truly different from many other champions, and is a lot of fun to play, especially when you get fed early for being underestimated.

In all, this build is a Tanky AD build that will make your damage viable late game, along with tankiness, not to mention the MOVEMENT SPEED boosts you get from your items allowing your positioning in abilities to be far easier.

Hope this build is useful. Thanks.
