Champion Build Guide
Welcome to my second guide. Here is a link to my first guide on Rumble. It's been a few years since I made my last guide (and since Rito assassinated the cocky little yordle). but I have decided to return to the Mobafire scene with a guide on one of my favorite champions to play right now, Elise. My summoner name is GandhiKing. Feel free to check out my profile, I use this build on a regular and I hope you enjoy your time here on my guide. This guide is extremely in-depth. Please do not just copy the runes and masteries without reading the entire guide, otherwise you won't understand how to use the majority of the build effectively. Unless if you're Diamond or something than I'm sure it's pretty easy to see. Here are links to my YouTube and Twitch accounts. I will be making a youtube video that will directly correlate to this guide and I hope that it will enlighten those of you who do not completely understand my build.
I hope this guide will allow you to realize the true potential of Elise. Though she is extremely weak early game following this guide, the percent damage on her Neurotoxin and Venomous Bite can turn any game into an easy win if used effectively.
First things first. YOU NEED AN OPEN MIND TO EVEN CONSIDER THIS BUILD. I want you to remove all of the walls you have built in your mind declaring champions to specific roles and builds and refusing the thought of ever changing that. Ever since I began playing League of Legends 4 years ago, I have always looked for a way to spice up my games while still winning and enjoying the game. I have realized that the way to have the most fun and experience a champions full potential is to unlock your mind from the rules you have built around champions and item builds.
"Nothing is true, Everything is permitted".
Elise is just a champion with a specific set of abilities that scale (or don't) in whatever specific way that they do (or don't). There is nothing to her beyond that. She does not come with a tag when purchased that reads "Must build AP". Secondly, I hope you enjoy my guide. Feel free to comment and give me tips on how to improve my guide writing skills as well as what I could do to make my build better. I hope you appreciate the time and effort I put into making this guide.
P.S. most of these runes and masteries are pretty flexible. You could probably switch out Thunderlord's Decree for Fervor of Battle , Stormraider's Surge , or Grasp of the Undying for different styles of Elise gameplay. Regardless of your masteries or runes, this guide is solid for any Elise top that wants to build a bit tanky.
- High percent target current health and target missing health with Neurotoxin and Venomous Bite, respectively
- No mana costs when in Spider Form
- Can build straight tank after a Rod of Ages and a Titanic Hydra and still deal ridiculously high amounts of damage
- One of the few viable AP top laners in this meta
- High mana cost when in Human Form
- Difficult to engage in direct 1v1's, must kite in Human Form before entering Spider Form for the kill (disadvantage of champion more than of this build)
- Using Rappel is useless as a means to escape while in top laneSpoiler: Click to view
- Difficult to hit Cocoon which always comes in clutch in Life or Death situations
Though I have been Gold for 3 seasons now, I have enough experience playing League of Legends to be able to realize when something is viable or not, and this build is definitely viable, though I would recommend that you try this build out in a normal game or two to get the gist of laning phase, as it requires a lot of skill to kite most enemy top laners while still outfarming them.
I will however be focusing on the aspects of Elise that would be best put to use in Bronze/Silver/Gold elos. Attempting this at a higher elo can be unpredictable as I've never tested it, and know of no one that has. Though I would bet it would work just as effectively. I will update this guide as my elo rises and have the required experience and skill to prove that this guide works at even higher elos.
Runes
Now here is where things get interesting. Let's start from the left and work our way to the right
Greater Quintessence of Spell Vamp
My love, my staple, my most wonderful Spell Vamp Quint. Those of you that know me, not only think I'm stupid, but also know that I love me one Spell Vamp Quint. Being able to sustain yourself in lane is EXTREMELY important to this build. Bringing a Spell Vamp Quint allows you to gain health just for using abilities. Early game this is a godsend, especially when mixed with Corrupting Potion. Don't underestimate the Spell Vamp Quint.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
Now I know what you guys are thinking. "What's the point in an attack speed quint on an AP champ?" Well first of all, Elise is simply a champion without a predefined build path (as far as my build is concerned). Secondly, this build adds 0 attack speed to Elise but also demands that you build a Titanic Hydra. This extra attack speed helps proc Titanic Hydra auto attacks late game for increased damage. Especially during Skittering Frenzy.
|
Greater Quintessence of Percent Health
The Greater Quintessence of Percent Health is quite and effective rune. The percent of health you gain from this rune is greater than a Greater Quintessence of Scaling Health's flat amount late game if you follow this build. I will do the mathematical explanation in a spoiler if anyone's interested but otherwise just know that in high health builds, Percent Health Quints are better than Scaling Health Quints.

Greater Seal of Scaling Health
Greater Seal of Scaling Health is a great seal to bring on any health-dependent build. Since this build demands a Titanic Hydra in order to function correctly, the more health you can have, the better. Obviously if you're going against a heavy attack damage dependent enemy team, feel free to bring armor instead. But in most situations Scaling Health is the way to go.

Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration
Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration |
Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration gives a large amount of Hybrid Penetration which is pretty helpful with this build.
|
Wanderer
Assassin
2% increased damage vs champions when you are alone is very effective in a solo lane.
|
Merciless
Merciless
helps you to assassinate low targets. This goes great with the increased damage on Venomous Bite vs low champions.
|
Dangerous Game
This will allow you to continue laning after securing a kill, or even better, getting many kills. Survivability during teamfights will be improved greatly if you get kills.
|
Precision
Thunderlord's Decree
Thunderlord's is extremely effective for poking your enemy into submission. Make sure to auto attack as necessary after hitting Neurotoxin and/or a Volatile Spiderling.
|
Unyielding
Tough Skin
Tough Skin
decreases all enemy champion and monster basic attacks by 2 damage. This goes extremely well with Ninja Tabi. If enemy is heavy AP or you wish to gank mid lane more, you can switch this out for
Explorer
.
|
Veteran Scars
This increases your health by a solid 45. More health can, very simply, allow you to survive longer and take a little more damage. This also adds more damage to your Titanic Hydra.
|
Perseverance
Perseverance helps you stay in lane even after losing small amounts or the majority of your health. Goes extremely well with
Recovery
but a necessary pick over it's alternative,
Insight
.
