Introduction

Hello. This is my guide to Shyvana, the Half-Dragon!
To me, Shyvana seems like my favourite champion, Renekton, in the way that she has no cost abilities, scales off both AD and AP, can offtank and DPS very well and has a transformation as an ult. Also, both characters are great for Solo top/Jungling/Tank/Carry. This makes Shyvana a very versatile champion!

In this guide, im going to give Three builds;

1) Full DPS

2) Off-Tank

3) Jungling

My favourite way to play Shyvana is off-tank on solo top, where, in my opinion, she belongs!

Please don't forget to comment and rate! as the only way to improves is constructive criticism and collective thinking!

Runes

1) Full DPS

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
These are to give you that little boost in minion killing during the laning phase. helps you farm and push back your opponent.

Greater Seal of Attack Speed
Gives you moe attack speed that is relevant throughout the game. this help let your passive's do more damage!

Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction
To be a DPS Shyvana, you need to be activating your abilities a lot more, these help a lot early game fore harassment!

Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
More attack speed, more passive bonuses!

2) Off-Tank

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
These are to give you that little boost in minion killing during the laning phase. helps you farm and push back your opponent.

Greater Seal of Armor
Allows you to take more damage from auto attacks and physical abilities! just what a tank does!

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Allows you to resist against magic abilites, and not get melted against LeBlanc, Annie and alike! again, what a tank does!

Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
More attack speed! More Passive bonuses!

3) Jungling

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
These are to give you that little boost in minion killing during the laning phase. helps you farm and push back your opponent.

Greater Seal of Attack Speed

Masteries

Im not sure i feel the need to explain the masteries. most matery builds are simple and straight forward!
You want DPS, you go for Offensive Tree, Tank - Defensive, Magic - Utility.
making sure you always pick up the extra EXP bonus in Utility (ive tried playing without it on a few champs, they deal more damage/take less, but its not worth it as you soon get out leveled, and its hard to make a comeback then!)

For DPS, its a pretty standard set up, but putting one point into extra spell damage as Shyvana deals Magic Damage mostly, except from her Q, even though her W scales of AD.

For Off Tank, a standard route again is taken through the Defensive tree, and then into the utility tree for extra EXP.

For Jungling, i put one point into smite for extra gold, which adds up! exp boost in utility, and defensive tree for early jungling and survivorability.

Items

Core Items for Shyvana are;

more attack speed for your passive bonuses!

You're Q applies on hit effects. This includes Madred's Bloodrazor, which means with your Q dealing two auto attacks, Madred's passive deals 8% of the targets health in damage instantly!

More attack speed plus the reduced magic resist on your opponent and increased magic resist on you makes this item a must! The amount of damage Shyvana does that is calculated via Magic Damage is probably about 80% of her total output of damage. added to that is +42 damage (magic damage) on every auto attack, making up for a lot of damage. This item is also mega cheap for what you get!

This item gives you both AD and AP, and you scale of both 50/50. not only that, but it gives you a good amount of life steal for your auto attacks, and a good amount of spell vamp. this means that your entire damage output is given back to you in health. the item also have a nice active!

This item often goes to waste on some champion because at being so expensive, you need to take full advantage over every aspect. luckily for Shyvana, nothing goes to waste! (besides mana, but that's insignificant to the rest of the benefits)
The slow is nice.
the sheen passive make your Twin Bitehit twice as hard!
More AP
More AD
More Health
More attack speed
More Crit Chance
More movespeed
And! more attack speed!

Yes, that is five items i consider a must build on Shyvana. however, that does leave on item slot left for situational building and/or building towards what role you are playing on the team.

Skill Sequence

Fury of the Dragonborn (Passive)

Twin Bite (Q)

Burnout (W)

Flame Breath (e)

Dragon's Descent (R - Ultimate)

The skill sequence is pretty straight forward

You want to harass with E a lot, but if you dont like skill shots use your Q.
Eat the minnions with W.
Tank/Seige minions need focusing with Q.

When jungling, use all of your abilites when ready. it really is button mash to victory! just make sure to focus one minion at a time, usually the big/main/boss/buff minion first!
though, do not use your ultimate unless fighting Champions!

For taking out champions, make sure to harass a lot and weaken them. pick your moments and Shyvana has little escape mechanics if things go wrong.

use; W > E > Q > E > Q then rinse and repeat until the enemy runs, then ulti dash towards them! luckily, the dash is more of a knock up, than a knock back, so don't be afraid to ulti towards their base, unlike Alistar's head-but. then, once in Dragon form, use the same skill sequence untill they are dead!

Summoner Spells

Summoner spell are pretty simple.

Viable options depending on what role you are fulfilling are;

The summoner spells are pretty self explanatory on when you want to use them.
and often down to preference.

if you take any other summoner spell. just... no.. pick another champ!

With the upcoming Summoner Spell changes, Flash may become completely pointless. However, i am looking forward to the new Rally spell, especially for hybrids and alike!
