Kudos. Mobafire kids living in the past with Trinity Force Irelia. The meta has changed, deal with it!

I think we have different opinions on the role of Irelia, imo mallet is better for CC tank, not a damage dealer. Trinity provides addition 150ish damage with proc and unreliable CC and makes you squishy. IMO trinity is not core. Try the build out.

Irelia is lane as a nature is not a high harass champion, so you make the most of when you do decide to go it. Also 25 armor pen isnt going to make a significant difference end game, which is why i recommend if you wanna do damage take last whisper. A lot of pro have moved away from armor pen in favor of flat AD, atk speed scales well on Irelia.

I never said triforce wasn't viable, just not Ideal. with malllet you can stick for days on targets. The damage with this build is significant without triforce. Try it out before more people downvote. Triforce is a very expensive item and you have to look carefully at it before you build it. Especially if you are losing a lane you waste 4k gold on being useless since you'll be blown up. Atmallet/wits end allows you to be tanky for cheap while doing damage. The combination of wits/phage is Superior to triforce for 1k less. and allows a negatron/chainvest/giants belt.

although Irelia does true damage with Hiten Style, that only covers 1/3 of the damage she deals out. The remaining 2/3 of her damage will be blocked by armour so having armour penetration runes like greater mark of desolation actually helps. Furthermore you only do true damage for 6 seconds out of the 21 seconds of the skill. THere is like a 15 sec cooldown on Hiten Style once the active has been used. So saying no need for armour penetration rune is a bit dubious.

Trinity Force is a core on Irelia for several reasons. You get attack speed, attack damage, ability power, some hp, some mp, some movement speed and critical chance. The slow from phae isn't that unreliable... it's roughly 1 in 4 hits a slow that lasts for 2 seconds. In that 2 second u be puting out about 3 attacks.... Sheen can be proc by a lot of Irelia's skills. Her Bladesurge, Hiten Style, Equilibrium Strike and each time you shoot out one of her transcendant blades. Why then is it not viable on Irelia? Other heroes have similar amount of spells if not less than Irelia to trigger it.

To improve on your guide you should explain where she should be laning, how to play her in laning phase, team fights etc.
