This is a build for top lane shen. High health and medium dmg from the froz mallet and trinity force. This build works very well when you have a tanky jungler such as rammus,amumu, shyvana, mundo or sejuani ect. This will allow you to build this damage that you would most likely not buy is you were the solo tank for your team. The split push build is for if you want to have fun and ult into team fights and have total global presence. However this build does not have as much health and defense but a good change up.

9/21/0 is the typical masteries for shen. In offence most people take the extra attack speed for more Ki strikes, but the cdr is also good. Then magic pen. The 21 in offence is the typical mr and armour extra health and whatever you feel u will need for the rest.

I tend to run AD quints and marks as oppose to armour or mr as i find i like the early dmg with taunt, faint, and vorpal combo. It also help with last hitting.

Pros

- Unkillable late game when built to last
- Easy to farm with / stall lane with faint to block waves from reaching tower
- Push lanes fast with Sunfire to enable global presence with tele & ult
- No mana
- Ult turns fights and keeps key carrys alive

Cons

- Weak before first and second back (low max health)
- Poses no strong threat of killing in lane
- Almost always banned in ranked
- Very long CD on stand united

The build I use is slightly different to the top rated as they all seem to rather the strait tank and never die while waiting for the dmg to arrive. I like to take more dmg but also never die... yes it is possable. with a quik sunfire followed by phage and trinity you will start to dominate your opposite laner.

I find playing shen is much more effective with communication over a mic. Being able to tell someone to dive is a great tool that pinging can not always deliver.
