Kassadin has a number of pros and cons.

Pros:
Ability to blink away with the use of ulti, Riftwalk

Cons:
Noobs suck at using Kassadin.
All other abilities, Null Sphere, Nether Blade and Force Pulse are absolutely useless.
Kassadin excels at getting owned by pros.

For runes on Kassadin, we take cooldown marks, cooldown glyphs, cooldown seals and cooldown quints. This is essential as we want to ensure that Riftwalk comes up every 0 seconds. The importance of Riftwalk will be described in the next section.

The ability to use Riftwalk is absolutely essential, as it allows for repeated use of Riftwalk to close gaps, deal damage and kill-steal from your teammates. Also, Riftwalk allows for quick escape if a sudden gank appears, or luring the other team into a teamfight, which your team would lose but you would still survive.

We would want to take Vision Ward, as you need to know when the baddies come. Ward the whole map! It prevents you from dying.

Also, after taking Vision Ward, we take Elixir of Agility, enabling faster attack speed in the face of evil forces. It's cool.

Take Promote, because Kassadin is one of the lousiest pushers ever. EVER. So Promote is absolutely important. End of discussion. If you don't take Promote, you're a moron and obviously have 0 ELO.



Take Clairvoyance, because a good solo-mid Kassadin is always prone to ganks. Clairvoyance every single bush. It will allow you to Riftwalk away if you see any baddies coming around.
