Threats to Trundle with this build
|Dr. Mundo||Very easy to kill. With how much he's played in this meta you should enjoy murdering him.|
|Malphite||Also very op but countered by Trundle. Be aggressive while he doesn't have his shield. At 6 all in if he isn't dead or cowering in fear.|
|Tryndamere||Tryndamere needs those early minion hits to gather rage for the extra crit. If you can go ham on him level 1 so he can't then he'll lose lots of hp and eventually give FB. After this make sure you don't dive him because he'll just ult. You may want to get Bilgewater Cutlass and then go straight into Frozen Heart because it counters him so hard.|
Pros / Cons
- Very good early game.
- Strong Split Push.
- Good Roamer.
- Not too great at tanking.
- Not good against groups.
- Mediocre at teamfighting.
Blade of the Ruined King
BOTRK should almost always be your first item and it just synergizes with Trundle in every way.
Guinsoo's I build whenever I can because it's essential for splitpushing. That said if they ahvee a carry I usually build a defensive item first.
Frozen Heart is good for when they have attack-speed champs or when their adc gets out of control.
Deadman's Plate is usually my go to armor Item because it adds tankiness while still giving Trundle some damage. Plus usually hp is better for Trundle.
Spirit Visage is the best Magic Resist item because the extra lifesteal it gives with it's passive is just amazing on Trundle.
Kings Tribute is very good for trundle to play passive with
Whenever an enemy dies near Trundle, he heals for 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6% of their max. health.
It lets you play safe when you get wrecked which is very crucial to making trundle a blind pick. Lets say you Xin Zhao top. That's hard to deal with the all-in's so you poke skirmish lose hp then regen. While he still doesn't have that HP you can reengage and win. A lot of times you're going to want to recall early because you're low but if you can hold out for 1 wave that's at minimum 12% early game. If you include that with the lifesteal from your dorans then you're going to be a lot on health.
CHOMP NOM NOM NOM
Chomp is what makes Trundle.... Trundle.
ACTIVE: Trundle's next basic attack deals additional physical damage and Slow icon slows his target by 75% for 0.1 seconds. After biting his target, Trundle gains bonus attack damage for 8 seconds and reduces his target's attack damage by half that amount for the same duration.
Chomp resets Trundle's autoattack timer.
- Use chomp for an easy FB whenever you can.
- Use the slow so you can fit in an extra AA on the enemy.
- Use it to help you farm because it's super cheap on mana.
- Use AA, Q, AA to get the best combo and abuse the aa timer.
Frozen Domain is for Turret Murdering and Killing
ACTIVE: Trundle coats the target area in ice for 8 seconds. While inside, he gains bonus attack speed, movement speed, and 20% increased healing and health regeneration from all sources.
- Do not use it to poke
- Use it on turrets in order to MURDER THEM
- Use to run away.
Pillar I will describe further below but here's a quick overview
ACTIVE: Trundle projects a pillar of ice at the target location for 6 seconds, Airborne icon knocking back everyone directly over it on cast, acting as impassable terrain for the duration and Slow icon slowing enemies around it.
- Use to KILL, if you're not finishing them don't use it
- Use to escape
- Use to make picks
His ult is what lets him be a tank murderer
ACTIVE: Trundle drains the life force out of the target enemy champion, instantly dealing them magic damage, healing for the damage done and stealing 20% of their armor and magic resistance. He then applies the same effects to the target again over the next 4 seconds.
- Use on carries late game... sounds like the opposite of what you want but trust me they need to die.
- Use when you all in during the laning phase.
- Use often...the cooldown is surprisingly short and I use it whenever I find a good opportunity.
- This is what lets him destroy tanks. The reduced armor with the percentage health just lets him dump on most tanks.
In teamfights I almost always just seek out the enemy carry and go ham on them. Afterwards either try to save your teammates or go ham on more people.
Pillar In Depth
Trundle's pillar is absolutely crucial to knowing how to play him. Save it for when you need it. Most BAD trundles use it right away. It can save you or a kill very easily. Also you can use it to cancel many ults. MF, VEL, MALZ, and SHEN, all have cancelable if you hit them with your pillar.
I try for first blood in almost every situation. Use your keystone mastery to surprise the enemy on how strong Trundle is level 1. After this focus on zoning and looking for opportunities to kill or roam. After kills go ham on minions and then take turret if they don't have TP or roam.
As mid game Trundle you have to decide whether or not it's best to stay in your lane or teamfight. If you know you have a good chance at taking that 2nd tower or your laner is absolutely fed I'd stick with splitting. If not then teamfight. Trundle has a surprisingly strong mid game.
Late game you somewhat fall of if you don't have kills. Focus their carries always and try to help teamfights. If you think you can get a turret by roaming go for it. With my build you should get atleast 2.35 shots a second which then combined with your Q lets you DEMOLISH turrets. Backdooring is also very strong with Trundle and I've taken many inhibs by doing this.
