Spells

Basic for junglers. Also to secure Baron/Dragon. Must get.

90% of games you will need this to position your ult better or escape. Take it. Don't hesistate.

Take exhasut over flash if any of your teammates need a gank pre-6. Flash will still be better for chasing, scaping, and ulting mid/late game.

Take ghost over flash only if you master this spell more than flash, and you believe in the power of Forest Gump.

Masteries

  • 21/9/0 is basic with wukong. With no CC besides your ultimate you should build straight damage to have a strong pressence when ganking.
  • I take Fury over Sorcery because attack speed gives you more DPS without the need of spending mana in the jungle, and I reach the CDR cap with my normal build. When a laner is gone I usually take their tower with Q and autoattacks and do the same with all towers, as such I take a point in Destruction .
  • Because of his sustain problems in the jungle I also go with Tough Skin and Bladed Armor

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush
  • Greater Mark of Attack Damage are better in the jungle. If you think you won't have problems in the jungle, then go with greater mark of armor penetration to have stronger ganks and enjoy dealing true damage late-game. I don't use Attack Speed marks because this build is focused more in an "assassin" playstyle rather than DPS, due to the high amount of damage your ult does when you stack Armor Penetration. AD marks are fine for jungle. *see "must know facts" in Teamfights
  • Greater Seal of Armor and Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist are basic for most bruisers like Wukong.
  • Greater Quintessence of Life Steal for sustain in the jungle since wukong has no sustain early game.

Abilities

Ability Sequence

  • Get Nimbus Strike at level 1 and max it first for the AoE damage and the maximum damage overall with the attack speed buff in the jungle.
  • Get Warrior Trickster at level 2. Wukong doesn't have any sustain and will start taking considerable damage in the jungle. Therefore, at all levels, the Warrior Trickster can be used effectively to block attacks from the jungle monsters while you continue attacking them, as they attack the Warrior Trickster instead of you, similar to shacos boxes. Max it last.
  • Get Crushing Blow at level 3 and max it second for the stronger ganks and the increase in damage.
Crushing Blow is weak overall in the jungle because it only affects a single monster and ArPen is usefull primarly against champions,so don't use it in the jungle unless you have blue buff or you will run out of mana.

Got red buff? Then get this and you will have double red buff. Cyclone will apply 8 times its passive as it stacks and because its AoE it doesn't count as periodic damage. Lol. Also, The sustain helps a lot early game and gives you faster jungle clears. Extremely cost efficient and its one of the main reasons of this guide. First buy item.

Buy boots, then upgrade later to Mercury's Treads or Ninja Tabi depending on the enemy team.

Good purchase early/mid game, and help you a lot if you're behind. I always get at least 1 during mid game.

Ultimate applies 8 ticks of damage, which means it removes 25% armor to the whole team and deals Tons of damage. OP item.

Want to deal true damage? Get this. With the 30% armor reduction of your Crushing Blow and 25% from Black Cleaver , with this item you will deal true damage. Because the base damage of his abilities are already very high, stacking armor penetration increase Wukong's damage exponentialy. A solid choice when going glass cannon.

More sustain can help you stay in the jungle longer and always be with your team when they need you. Its active increases the damage of your ult when used at the same time. Best sustain item for wukong.

Very strong item against AD carries and synergizes very well with wukong. Use its active after the ult knockup to mantain them inside your ult range, or to chase/escape.

If the enemy team has strong AP champions, this will help you a lot, and the health it provides is nice too. The shield will help you initiate with your ult, and the hp regen will keep you alive if your get focused.

Another solid MR choice if you're looking for damage instead of health.

With the extra armor and Magic resist from your passive you can be extremely tanky when building this item, so buy it when you're sure you want to tank for your team and the enemy isn't going to build items like BOTRK or Liandry's Torment.

Get Aegis of the Legion if enemy team has a lot of aoe magic damage, and Trinity Force if you want to split push like a champ and took teleport as a summoner spell. Good options overall.

I just found this video, where a pro player pretty much resumes my guide: 0:23-0:26, 0:32-0:40, and 1:08-1:15:

Stages of the game and Teamfights

Must Know Fact:
  • Red buff and SotEL both apply a strong DoT every time the enemy takes damage, so wukong's Cyclone stack 8 times these passive DoT's to all enemies in range, which is the reason of this guide.
  • End game ult damage = 800 + 4.8 AD (~1344) = 2144 + 320 (SotEL) = ~2500 damage over the course of 4 seconds to the entire team.

Early game:

  • Being an offensive jungler helps you to snowball and mantain a lead, or do average and while still providing utility to your team. With no CC besides your ult, you need to build straight damage to have a strong pressence while ganking, and because you're jungler (and there is no enemy champion constantly attacking you), i don't recommend building defences until late game. You can tank most damage with your decoy in the jungle.
To gank, get inside a bush. When about to leave the bush press W to stealth, and right after go with Q-E-R or E-Q-R combo, and continue with basic attacks. These ganks are very strong and are garanteed kills most of the time. Avoid ganks pre-6 unless you think you can help secure with i.e. exhaust.

Mid game:

  • Continue ganking and taking buffs whenever possible. Only counter jungle if you got an early Phage and the enemy jungle is vulnerable to counter jungling, such as Amumu, the happy mummy.
Coordinate ganks with your team:

Late game:
  • A welltimed ultimate will won you teamfights. His ult gives tons of utility to your team, which means he has a strong pressence even when behind. So he is also one of the best initiators. Its damage its extremely high, and by stacking armor penetration you have literally a fiddlesticks ultimate with hard CC.
I Initiate with W/stealth ---> flash if necesary ---> then E-Q their carry ---> R ---> Randuin's Omen active after knockup ---> Proceed to Win teamfight.
Unless you have a Frozen Mallet for peeling, focusing their ADC and APC is more important.
